Kendo-grid not paging local data - kendo-ui

I'm trying to figure out how to make paging work with local data. Currently I have a DataSource:
vm.kendoData = new kendo.data.DataSource({
serverPaging: true,
pageSize: 5
});
And when I get the data from server it is assigned to the DS:
vm.kendoData.data = $scope.records;
The following is the grid mark-up:
<kendo-grid data-source="vm.kendoData.data" options="vm.gridOptions"><kendo-grid>
And this is the options definition:
vm.gridOptions = {
columns: [
{
field: "Col1",
title: "Col1",
width: "120px"
}, {
field: "Col2",
title: "Col2",
width: "120px"
}, {
field: "Col3",
title: "Col3",
width: "120px"
}, {
field: "Col4",
title: "Col4",
width: "120px"
}
],
pageSize: 10,
pageable: true,
dataBound: function () {
this.expandRow(this.tbody.find("tr.k-master-row").first());
}
}
What am I missing?

Here's why it doesn't work as you expect:
Since your datasource is local, serverPaging should be set to false (because there's no call to a server)
pageSize is not an option of grid, it's an option of grid.pageable, but the documentation states:
Don't forget to set a pageSize, no matter if paging is performed client-side or server-side. A pageSize can be defined in the pageable settings, or in the dataSource settings. If an already existing datasource instance is passed to the grid, then the pagesize option should be set in the dataSource's settings and not in the pageable settings.
So to sum up:
vm.kendoData = new kendo.data.DataSource({
serverPaging: false,
pageSize: 5,
data: $scope.records
});
vm.gridOptions = {
columns: [
{
field: "Col1",
title: "Col1",
width: "120px"
}, {
field: "Col2",
title: "Col2",
width: "120px"
}, {
field: "Col3",
title: "Col3",
width: "120px"
}, {
field: "Col4",
title: "Col4",
width: "120px"
}
],
pageable: true,
dataBound: function () {
this.expandRow(this.tbody.find("tr.k-master-row").first());
}
}
I've created a fiddle to demonstrate: https://jsfiddle.net/86w9u27h/7/
Note: since you're already fetching data from the server, why don't you create a remote datasource with paging on the server?

Kendo Grid In a Kendo Grid

I am displaying Grid and using detailTemplate to expandRow. But when expand the row, I want to pass the row ID and get datasource and display another grid.
I think detailTemplate won't work in this case. How can I do this ?
Here is my Code
$(document).ready(function () {
var dataSource = new kendo.data.DataSource({
pageSize: 20,
data: [
{ id: "1", name: "Andrew", age: "30" },
{ id: "2", name: "Robert", age: "29" },
{ id: "3", name: "Frank", age: "35" }
],
autoSync: true,
schema: {
model: {
id: "id",
fields: {
id: { editable: false, nullable: true, type: "number" },
name: { editable: false },
age: {
validation: { min: 0, required: true },
editable: true,
nullable: true,
type: "number"
}
}
}
}
});
$("#grid").kendoGrid({
dataSource: dataSource,
pageable: true,
height: 550,
editable: "inline",
columns: [
{ field: "name",title: "Name" },
{ field: "age", title: "Age", width: "180px"},
{ command: ["edit"] }
],
detailTemplate: "<div>Name: #: name #</div><div>Age: #: age #</div>"
});
});
Did you checked this demo from Kendo UI ?
http://demos.telerik.com/kendo-ui/grid/detailtemplate
Similar to your scenario, detail grid is created in detailInit function and data for detail grid is filtered for the current employee using e.data.EmployeeID

Kendo Grid Hierarchy (child) grid on click event

I want to add Hierarchy (child) grid on button click event. By default on grid load, there is a child grid. I want it to bind on button click.
var people = new kendo.data.DataSource({
data: {!Output},
batch: true,
schema: {
model: {
fields: {
carId: { type: "string" },
vehicleId: { type: "string", editable:false },
Percentage: { type: "number", editable:false },
Price: { type: "string", editable:false},
CarType: { type: "string", editable:false},
CarSize: { type: "string", editable:false},
CarPerCase: { type: "number", editable:false },
Family: { type: "string", editable:false},
ModelType: { type: "string", editable:false},
EPId: { type: "string" },
Tax: { type: "string" }
}
}
},
pageSize: 20,
sort: { field: "vehicleId", dir: "asc" }
});
var element = $("#grid").kendoGrid({
dataSource: people,
navigatable: true,
pageable: true,
toolbar: [
"save",
"cancel",
{
name: "Add",
text: "Show Car Price",
click: function(e) {
return false;
}
},
{
name: "Delete",
text: "Hide Car Price",
click: function(e) {
return false;
}
}
],
columns:[
{
field: "carId",
title: "Car ID",
width: 150,
hidden:true
},
{
field: "vehicleId",
title: "Vehicle ID",
width: 100
},
{
field: "Percentage",
title: "Percentage",
width: 70
},
{
field: "Price",
title: "Price",
width: 250
},
{
field: "CarType",
title: "Car Type"
},
{
field: "CarSize",
title: "Car Size"
},
{
field: "CarPerCase",
title: "Car Per Case"
},
{
field: "Family",
title: "Family"
},
{
field: "ModelType",
title: "Model Type",
width: 100
},
{
field: "EPId",
title: "EP Id",
hidden: false
},
{
field: "Tax",
title: "Tax",
format: "{0:c}",
width: 100
}
],
editable:true,
groupable: true,
filterable: true,
sortable: true,
reorderable: true,
resizable: true,
columnMenu: true,
pageable: {
refresh: true,
pageSizes: [10, 20, 50],
buttonCount: 5
},
editable: "incell",
detailInit: detailInit
});
// hierarchy grid
function detailInit(e) {
var detailRow = e.detailRow;
codeDetailData = e.data;
$("<div/>").appendTo(e.detailCell).kendoGrid({
dataSource: e.data.ItemPrices.toJSON(),
editable:true,
navigatable: true,
scrollable: false,
sortable: true,
pageable: true,
columns: [
{
field: "Engine",
width: "200px",
editor: serviceItemAutoCompleteEditor
},
{
field: "TN",
title:"TN",
width: "110px"
},
{
field: "TaxApplied",
title:"Tax Applied"
},
{
field: "TaxChange",
title: "Tax Change",
width: "300px"
},
{
field: "StartDate",
title: "Start Date",
format:"{0:dd-MM-yyyy}",
editor: dateTimeEditor
},
{
field: "EndDate",
title: "End Date",
format:"{0:dd-MM-yyyy}",
editor: dateTimeEditor
}
]
});
}
Now the detailInit: detailInit configuration is set on load. I want that load without detailInit (responsible for child grid), and bind this setting on button click. Is it possible?
You will have to add a detail template to tell the grid there is going to be a detailinit grid
var element = $("#grid").kendoGrid({
dataSource: people,
navigatable: true,
toolbar: [
"save",
"cancel", {
name: "Add",
text: "Show Car Price",
click: function (e) {
return false;
}
}, {
name: "Delete",
text: "Hide Car Price",
click: function (e) {
return false;
}
}],
columns: [{
field: "carId",
title: "Car ID",
width: 150,
hidden: true
}, {
field: "vehicleId",
title: "Vehicle ID",
width: 100
}, {
field: "Percentage",
title: "Percentage",
width: 70
}, {
field: "Price",
title: "Price",
width: 100
}, {
field: "CarType",
title: "Car Type"
}, {
field: "CarSize",
title: "Car Size"
}, {
field: "CarPerCase",
title: "Car Per Case"
}, {
field: "Family",
title: "Family"
}, {
field: "ModelType",
title: "Model Type",
width: 100
}, {
field: "EPId",
title: "EP Id",
hidden: false
}, {
field: "Tax",
title: "Tax",
format: "{0:c}",
width: 100
}],
groupable: true,
filterable: true,
sortable: true,
reorderable: true,
resizable: true,
columnMenu: true,
pageable: {
refresh: true,
pageSizes: [10, 20, 50],
buttonCount: 5
},
editable: "incell",
detailTemplate: 'Item Prices: <div class="grid"></div>',
dataBound:function(e){
$(".k-hierarchy-cell").hide();
$(".k-hierarchy-col").hide();
}
});
then bind the detail event to the grid using a click button
$("#testbtn").click(function (e) {
$(".k-hierarchy-cell").show();
$(".k-hierarchy-col").show();
var grid = $("#grid").data("kendoGrid");
grid.unbind("detailInit");
grid.bind("detailInit", grid_detailInit);
grid.refresh();
});
Here is a Jsfiddle Example http://jsfiddle.net/ecotz69h/7/

kendo-ui grid filter icon not displaying

Filter icon not displaying in the tab. But when I try to click in the last filter options displayed.
How to show filter icon and what code I need to write..
$("#grid").kendoGrid({
dataSource: dataSource,
dataBound: function(){
updateGridForStage(stage)
riskGridTitle()
},
height: 'auto',
scrollable: true,
sortable: true,
filterable: Object,
pageable: false,
columns: [
{ field: "subject", title: "Subject", width: "40%" },
{ field: "status", title: "Status", width: "30%" },
{ field: "risk", title: "Score", width: "10%" },
{ field: "owner", title: "Owner", width: "25%" },
{ field: "days_open", title: "Days Open", width: "15%" },
{ field: "next_review", title: "Next Review Date", width: "25%" },
{ command}]
});
"I need to display icon near status"
I think you have to do just true instead of object
filterable: true

Open details in row click - kendo grid

I am using Kendo UI web in an ASP.NET MVC4 project.
I am trying to create a master/details grids and a detailsTemplate for each. I have some question regarding this situation:
What's the difference between hierarchy and details?
Is it possible to populate the details grid in a separate div on a master row click instead of that little triangle?
This code was my starting point : http://jsfiddle.net/WKSkC/2/
var element = $("#grid").kendoGrid({
dataSource: {
type: "odata",
transport: {
read: "http://demos.kendoui.com/service/Northwind.svc/Employees"
},
pageSize: 6,
serverPaging: true,
serverSorting: true
},
height: 430,
sortable: true,
pageable: true,
detailInit: detailInit,
dataBound: function () {
this.expandRow(this.tbody.find("tr.k-master-row").first());
},
columns:
[
{field: "FirstName", title: "First Name", width: "110px" },
{ field: "LastName", title: "Last Name", width: "110px" },
{ field: "Country", width: "110px" },
{ field: "City", width: "110px" },
{ field: "Title" }
]});
function detailInit(e) {
$("<div/>").appendTo(e.detailCell).kendoGrid({
dataSource: {
type: "odata",
transport: {
read: "http://demos.kendoui.com/service/Northwind.svc/Orders"
},
serverPaging: true,
serverSorting: true,
serverFiltering: true,
pageSize: 5,
filter: { field: "EmployeeID", operator: "eq", value: e.data.EmployeeID }
},
scrollable: false,
sortable: false,
selectable: true,
pageable: true,
columns:
[
{ field: "OrderID", width: "70px" },
{ field: "ShipCountry", title: "Ship Country", width: "110px" },
{ field: "ShipAddress", title: "Ship Address" },
{ field: "ShipName", title: "Ship Name", width: "200px" }
]
}).data("kendoGrid");
}
Thank you for your help.
You can use the API of the Grid to expand it programatically.
//you can expand it programatically using the expandRow like this
element.on('click','tr',function(){
$(element).data().kendoGrid.expandRow($(this));
})
Here is updated version.
Or you can use make the Grid selectable and use the select event instead of hooking a click event like shown above.

kendo grid server side paging

i am very much new to kendo grid, so please consider my question and help me.
i have a coldfusion page which has an array variable that contains all the user records retrieved from database.
now i have a function, for pagination.
i want to enable server side paging in this, but actually have no idea on how to do this.
please help.
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#data_table3").kendoGrid({
dataSource: {
pageSize: 10
},
pageable: {
refresh: true,
pageSizes: true
},
columns: [ {
field: "UserName",
width: 90,
title: "User Name"
} ,
{
field: "FirstName",
width: 90,
title: "First Name"
}
],
height: 460,
sortable: true
});
$("#data_table").show();
});
Hi try like this ,
$("#appointmentsGrid").kendoGrid({
columns: [
{ field: "MemberFirstName", title: "Member<br/>First Name" },
{ field: "MemberLastName", title: "Member<br/>Last Name" }
],
dataSource: new kendo.data.DataSource({
serverPaging: true,
serverSorting: true,
transport: {
read: {
url: "/Content/GetCustomerNameWithId",
data: additionalData
}
},
pageSize: 10,
schema: { data: "data", total: "total" }
}),
pageable: true,
sortable : true
});
