I am developing with unity is dynamically generated the ui part of my application.
This ui is created by pulling information from the server.
The ui device I created is being recorded.
Whenever there is a change, I pull ui from the server, but if there is no change, I want it to run directly from the device. I need information on this subject.
Welcome to Stackoverflow Alper. In order to achieve this, you need to store the data and see if there are any changes from the previous launch. The easiest way to do this is by using PlayerPrefs which is pretty straightforward.
PlayerPrefs.SetInt("someName", varName);
and similar if you want to save string:
PlayerPrefs.SetString("someAnotherName", stringVarName);
Then if you want to access it you can use:
PlayerPrefs.GetInt("someName");
PlayerPrefs.GetString("someAnotherName");
Have in mind that PlayerPrefs is not secure and can be accessed very easy outside of your application. If the information you are going to store have something private I suggest you to use SQLite.

Id imagine there are many use cases where customizing a global element is worthwhile, especially since custom applications may need to be built.
I understand I can use the Resources to create a SPA such as angular which is running so long as the URL stays at the SPA url. But for our use case, we are looking to allow end users to be able to navigate the CRM using the custom controls. but when something happens in a another subsystem, we need end users who are logged into the CRM to instantly view data that is important to them.
Is this technically possible?
Unfortunately this is not feasible. There are some concepts to show learning path like that. It won’t satisfy your need.
I understand what you need, like a news feed or ad rotator for rolling content but context specific flyout area which is always pinned. There is no OOB option or customization/configuration available for achieving this. You can initiate this concept in Dynamics Ideas.
Like you said there can be a HTML web resource developed & embedded in a dashboard, this is very limited for your requirement.

In CRM V9, they have introduced a new API call for 'Panel'. This panel loads to the side of the screen, and can display content regardless of where the user moves throughout the entire application. I've played around with it a bit for my own person reasons at work, but it looks to be exactly what you're looking for.

I'm trying to build a web application that allows users to drag and drop a file from their desktop (like justbeamit.com) to an "icon" that represents another user, and so that the different user could receive it on the other side. I see that this is possible using the dropzone.js feature, but I want to know is how it's possible to link this with the receiving function so that the other user could download it simply after receiving a notification. I know it sounds complicated, but wish you guys could do good on me by providing knowledge on how to link the drag and drop functionality with a function that allows the other user to receive and download the file. Thanks!

I would like to build a chrome extension (CE) that pulls data from a ruby db for a specific user. So, in a basic example, if an user submits their favorite color as 'red' and sport as 'tennis' into the db from the core website, when they click the CE, 'red' and 'tennis' will show up no matter where they are on the internet.
Any guidance on how to build something like this? Seems quite simple but am not sure how the CE files fit in with the ruby folder framework.
Also, is it possible to write to a ruby database from a popped out CE? i.e. - submitting 'red' and 'tennis' from the CE to the ruby database to go along with the previous example. Any guidance?

This is a very general question so it sounds like you will need to learn a lot. Which can be a good thing :)
Here are the general steps you need:
Look into building an API for your ruby application. This will allow you to get data from your database. For example, you can
make an app where you go to http://yoursite.com/api/favorites and that will return a list of all favorites as JSON. Then in your Chrome Extension you can parse the JSON and display the results to the user. You will probably want to do this using an ajax call (see jquery.ajax for an easy way to use ajax).
Assuming you want user accounts, your user will need to be logged in. Then you can use your user's cookies to verify that they are logged in and show them custom info. i.e. going to http://yoursite.com/api/favorites will just show the favorites for that user, not for everyone.
Finally, submitting things to the database...you can have another route where users can send stuff. For example, if you go to http://yoursite.com/api/favorites/add?color=red then it will add the color red to that user's favorites. You will need to write all the logic for adding stuff to the database...again, it might help you to go through a rails tutorial and then look at building an API.
Related to #3, look into RESTful APIs. A good convention is that if you issue a GET request, you're asking for data, but if you issue a POST request, you are adding data (in your case, creating a new favorite).
Finally, for terminology: it's not a "ruby" database, it's just a database. You can access a database using almost any language, and it sounds like you are accessing it using ruby right now :)
If you only need to store data for one machine browsing anywhere online, chrome has a storage api that would work great.
If you do need a ruby server, I would recommend looking at sinatra.
I have hosted a Tomcat application on CloudBees which allows users to edit some XML and saves them. I need to download and save these files locally for my personal usage. However I could not find a way to do this. I tried the 'download source' option but it downloads the original files that I had uploaded and not the edited versions. However my application is able to access the edited versions (and so clearly everything is being saved all right). Getting these files back is extremely critical and necessary for me and is, in fact, the whole motive of this app. Kindly tell if there is some way to get back the files in CloudBees or any other free Java hosting site which would allow me to do it.
It's not very clear from your question how your app is currently dealing with these files, but I'll take a swing at providing some general info.
To support editing and downloading of files, your app design would need to address the following issues:
How do users edit/upload the changed XML?
Where does your app store the changed XML?
How does your app retrieve the edited XML and make it available for download?
For #1, you will need to provide an edit or upload interface in your app for manipulating the XML files. I'm assuming this is something your app has already solved using a form of some kind.
For #2, you need to pick an approach for storing the files that is appropriate for app's needs and the runtime environment where your app will be deployed. For instance, on CloudBees (or most other CLoud platforms), it's important to understand that the local filesystem of the app can be used for temporary storage, but it is not clustered and it will be wiped away each time the app is updated or restarted. If these XML files need to be available forever, you will need to store them in a persistent location that is external to the application's runtime instance. Most developers use databases (such as the CloudBees MySQL service) to store persistent data in this way. In general, your app can store these files anywhere, but your app needs to manage how to store them, and how to retrieve them later.
For #3, to allow a user to download the changed files, you will need to implement your own mechanism for retrieving the file from its persistent location, and then send it back to the user's browser. If you want something like right-click "Save As" to work, then your app will just need to support a URL that can display the edited XML file directly in the browser. If your app then provides a link to that URL, users can download it using RightClick+SaveAs. If you want the user to be able to click on a button/link and trigger a Save As dialog automatically, then you'd need to write a URL handler (Servlet) that serves the XML content up using a Content-Disposition header (see this StackOverflow article). This header will tell the browser that the file is supposed to be saved to disk, and allows you to provide a default file name.
I am a newbie to Addon-SDK. I am making an Addon in which I log some information meant for manually viewing later on. I came across the
Simple-Storage API but as far as I could figure out, it saves the information internally in some format which can only be accessed via function calls i.e. "ss.storage.variable_name".
I was wondering if this information is accessible somehow from windows directory structure i.e. maybe from some file in the profile directory.
And secondly, is there any way to access the SQlite Database, or any third
party API?
(I don't know why but the cfx test for this API gives me errors, so not able
to use this).
