I was trying to install PyCrypto using PIP command
pip install pycrypto
I encountered error as,
error: command 'C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Microsoft Visual Studio\\2017\\BuildTools\\VC\\Tools\\MSVC\\14.15.26726\\bin\\HostX86\\x64\\cl.exe' failed with exit status 2
Please help me if anyone knows how to resolve this issue.

Choose one
use conda instead of pip
downgrade your python to 3.6 or lower
download an already compiled pycrypto and install it manually

I need to install the python future module to compile a code using ./waf command, and I'm doing this using the Cygwin 64 terminal. However, due to incompatibility issues I keep getting future module not found though it is already installed. I'm trying to re-install the module using pip2 install command, and the following error occurred:

$ pip2 install future
-bash: pip2: command not found
However, I can install the future module using pip3 install , but this is still not compatible with the ./waf command. Why is pip2 install not working?

so I just uninstalled a wrong version of python 3.8 and downloaded python 3.7.4
Now I'm trying to install packages using the command pip install X and get the following error.
C:\Users\User>pip install cv2
Fatal error in launcher: Unable to create process using '"c:\users\user\appdata\local\programs\python\python38-32\python.exe" "C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Programs\Python\Python38-32\Scripts\pip.exe" install cv2': The system cannot find the file specified.
clearly it is still trying to use the old version of python 3.8 even though I have uninstalled it and reinstalled pip several times.
Any idea on why its trying to look for this old path? and how can I change the default path it is using?
(btw this is just a matter of convenience because as of the moment if I use the command python -m pip install X it does seem to work)

I've installed pygraphviz using
conda install -c alubbock pygraphviz
But there was a problem since neato was missing, so I uninstalled the above and did the following.
From the suggestions given here I downloaded graphviz msi and installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\Graphviz2.38 and also installed.
Could someone suggest how to proceed from here?

I'm not sure how to install pygraphviz now.
I am trying to install pygobject for python 2.7 in pycharm for the purpose of using gstreamer. However I am having problems installing it. While in the virtual environment, if I use
pip install pygobject
Then the build fails and gives me this error

I know for a fact that glib exists on my system from searching for it with
find /usr -name glib-object.h
but for some reason the install can't find it. Do I have to link it in somehow/how do I go about doing this?
Also I know I can more successfully use this library with python3 but that caused some weird system errors that can apparently be resolved by using 2.7 so I am just exploring that at the moment.
With virtual environments it's recommended installing PyGObject with pipenv instead of pip.
Install pipenv with either MacPorts, HomeBrew or pipsi:

Once you've got pipenv installed then you should be able to add the package to your virtual environment:
pipenv install pygobject

According to the pip website (https://pip.pypa.io/en/stable/installing), I should already have pip installed with my Python version 2.9.7, but I assumed that I don't because of the error message.
I then attempted to install pip by downloading get-pip.py. It was successful but I got the messages:
Found existing installation: pip 1.3.1
Uninstalling pip-1.3.1:
Successfully uninstalled pip-1.3.1
Successfully installed pip-8.1.1 wheel-0.29.0
So it seems I did have a version of pip, so I'm not sure why I was getting the error message described in my original post.
But when I tried to then pip install jupyter, I just get:
-bash: pip: command not found
again. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong please?
I need to install iPython Notebook. I already have Python (version 2.7.9) installed on my Macbook, running OS X (version 10.7.5).
After some initial investigation, I saw somebody say that I could just run:
pip install "ipython[notebook]"
When I did this however, I got:
-bash: pip: command not found
So do I have to install pip first? And then use pip to install the Notebook? I'm out of my depth and a little confused!
Okay so my problem was that pip was installed, but in a location that was not included in my $PATH variable.
