Xcode 9 support on macOS Mojave - xcode

With new macOS Mojave coming out tomorrow (24 September 2018), is it going to support Xcode 9?
We could not switch one of our projects to Xcode 10 because of some outdated dependencies.

Yes.
You can use Xcode 9 (last release is Xcode 9.4.1) on macOS Mojave.
If you are upgrading from macOS High Sierra, you can choose to not update your copy of Xcode installed from the Mac App Store.
If you have already upgrade your App Store installed copy of Xcode to Xcode 10, you can download Xcode 9.4.1 DMG from Apple Developer Downloads.
Once downloaded, double click to mount the DMG, copy Xcode.app from the disk image to Desktop, rename it to Xcode 9.app and move it to /Applications directory. You can also add drag the Xcode 9.app file to Dock to add a shortcut.
Note: I’m not sure about expect version number compatibility, thus recommended to install the last release of Xcode 9, i.e. Xcode 9.4.1.
As mentioned in your comment, you currently have Xcode 9 installed from the Mac App Store and a GM build of Xcode 10 downloaded from Apple Developer. You can now take either one of the below mentioned approaches. However, before proceeding, consider deleting the Xcode_10.app from /Applications as it is a GM build and the public release for the same is now available:
Leave Xcode.app (Xcode 9) as is in the /Applications directory. Mac App Store will show that an update is available. Do not install the update from the Mac App Store. However, make sure that the version of Xcode 9 is the last released version, i.e. Xcode 9.4.1. Download Xcode 10 public build from Apple Developer Download using this link. Copy the Xcode.app from the downloaded DMG to ~/Desktop, rename it to Xcode 10.app and move it to /Applications directory.
Second alternative would be to update the Mac App Store installed copy to Xcode 10 and download Xcode 9.4.1 instead from Apple Developer Downloads. Similarly, rename the downloaded file to Xcode 9 and move it to /Applications directory.

Can't Open .xip Xcode File

I'm trying to install XCode 10.2 (most recent) through the developer.apple.com download. After downloading the .xip file, I try to open it like many other people have suggested, but it just creates a XCode_10.2.xip.cpgz file. I click on that and it creates an XCode_10. 2 2.xip and the cycle continues.
Because of billing issues, I can't use the app store to download XCode.
You can install upgrades from the terminal without going to app store. If your running Mojave then Xcode 10.2 will run on your machine. If not, then Xcode 10.1 is latest version.
Go to the terminal and type sudo softwareupdate -i -a and press Enter. This will download all application upgrades for your computer; not just Xcode.
Again, don't attempt to upgrade XCode unless you are running Mojave 10.14

upgraded Xcode to 4.5.2 from 4.3.2 and install Simulator 5.0 or 5.1

I upgraded Xcode to 4.5.2 from 4.3.2 and install Simulator 5.0 or 5.1 but it tips
"Failed to mount file://localhost/Users/admin/Library/Caches/com.apple.dt.Xcode/Downloads/Xcode.SDK.iPhoneSimulator.5.1-5.1.dmg at file://localhost/var/folders/sw/qht9m6ln7353v5mbfyvhtmf00000gn/T/attached-image-6fdc393a2528f4e65d994f841bfb0d76b998b7e3/: not recognized", how can I do,thanks.
I found a work around for this. I am currently using Xcode 4.5 so I am sure it works for 4.5.2 as well.
I found the URL's for downloads in the .dvtdownloadabelindex file located in
Users/<user>/Library/Caches/com.apple.dt.Xcode/Downloads/
I copied the file to my Desktop and renamed it to .plist. Looking through some of the I found two URLs to download the simulators (Root/downloadables/Item 9/ for iPhoneSimulator 5.0 and Root/downloadables/Item 17/ for iPhoneSimulator 5.1). Not sure if I am allowed to post the direct URLs due to Apple TOS and whatnot.
I downloaded the two simulators, installed what was in the .dmg. It made a folder in the root of my drive called Platforms. I then copied
/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator5.0.sdk
to
/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator5.0.sdk
Restart Xcode (or in my case, MonoTouch), go into Xcode preferences and to the tab you would normally download them from, click install and this will get rid of the "iOS Simulator could not find the SDK. The SDK may need to be reinstalled." error that you would normally get.
You now have access to the iPhone/iPad iOS 5.0 Simulators. I have only done this for the 5.0 simulator not 5.1, but I am sure it will work the same.
This works for me:
Delete *.dvtdownloadableindex file
Restart Xcode
Install simulators

iOS 4 and iOS 5 SDK's in xCode 4.5.1 on Mountain Lion

I have migrated to Mountain Lion OS version 10.8.2. Since mountain lion, installed xCode 4.5.1. Now I only get the development target iOS 6. However, I have to deploy both version sdk's (iOS 5 & iOS 4) in xCode 4.5.1.
How can I have both iOS 5 and iOS 4 SDK's (simulators) in xCode4.5.1?
Please help.
Thanks,

Here is what you need to do..
Download XCode 4.3.* dmg from developer.apple.com and install the application
Double click on the dmg file
Right-click on the XCode icon and choose 'Show Package Contents'
Navigate to directory /Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs
Drag the directory iPhoneSimulator5.1.sdk to your desktop
Open terminal session and execute following commands
cd /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs
sudo mv $HOME/Desktop/iPhoneSimulator5.1.sdk .
sudo chmod -R root:wheel iPhoneSimulator5.1.sdk
Restart XCode
Now if you launch the Simulator, you should be able to switch to see the option for iOS 5.1 under Hardware
If you also want to test on iOS5, copy the relevant SDKs from the iPhoneOS.platform directory

How to install Simulator SDK 4.3 to Xcode 4.4 on Mountain Lion
I just upgraded to OSX 10.8 and Xcode 4.4, then I found 4.3 simulator was gone away and likely Apple didn't offer link to install it. Is there any hack to get 4.3 simulator back? Thanks.
Update: This solution doesn't work anymore on Mountain Lion. If you have to support 4.x I suggest you don't upgrade to ML and stick to Lion and Xcode 4.3.3. But, I'm guessing it's too late now since you're already here and reading this.
Xcode 4.3.3 doesn't work in Mountain Lion.
If you want the 4.x simulator back into Xcode 4.4 here's what you have to do:
Download Xcode 3.2.6 and iOS SDK 4.3 from https://developer.apple.com/downloads/ (you must be an Apple Developer to have access to that area)
Mount the .dmg file
Inside the disk there should be an invisible "Packages" folder. To open it use shift + cmd + G (Go To Folder) and type "/Volumes/Xcode and iOS SDK/Packages/"
Install iPhoneSimulatorSDK4_x.pkg in a temporary folder
Once installed go to your temp folder and you'll find a iPhoneSimulator4.x.sdk file
Open a new Finder window and navigate to "/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform" (you can do this with the same command as above, shift + cmd + G)
Drag the iPhoneSimulator4.x.sdk from your temp folder to the SDKs folder of the Xcode package.
Restart Xcode and delete your temp folder
Xcode 4.4 drops simulator 4.3 by policy. It is no longer in downloads. It DOES offer debug of iOS 3.0-3.2.2 and iOS 4.0-4.1
