How to change the icon of Terminal default on Mac OS - macos

How can I change the icon on the Terminal app on Mac OS?
I can change the icon on other apps but I can't change it for the Terminal.
I tried to change the icon for the Terminal app without success.
It requires admin authentication, but I'm using an admin account, can I change it?

You can make a copy of the Terminal app, place that copy inside /Applications. Perform the icon change on that copy and rename the copy to something like "MyTerminal" so that you can tell the difference in Spotlight.

Where are OS X Terminal Window Groups saved

I know you can save Window Groups in Terminal using Windows > Save Windows as Group…, as explained in Mac OS X / Open terminal with specified windows.
However, where does Terminal save these states? I switch between an iMac and MacBook and want to sync these settings somehow. I'm thinking I could use a reverse symlink between the settings and Dropbox, but I need to know where they are first.
Window groups are saved in a plist file at ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Terminal.plist. You an edit these using the plist file editor that comes with XCode ('open .apple.Terminal.plist' from a shell is sufficient if you've got XCode installed).
Fortunately you don't have a catch-22 when editing this file from a Terminal window. Terminal doesn't automatically checkpoint the file on exit, so you can edit the file, exit Terminal, then restart your Mac in order to refresh the data from the file.

installer created with install4j for mac os not showing custom icon

I have created an two installer of java application using install4j.
One for Windows system and one for Mac OS X.
Setup.exe file of windows installer have custom icon which I have given but mac os installer don't have icon which is provided by me even when installing application desktop shortcut also don't have the icon.
So, Can you please help me how to use custom icon for mac application installer.
My file is a png file of 32x32.
In window it is working perfectly but for mac it is not showing my icon on desktop shortcut as well as on application icon.
Am I need to give image with any specific size for mac ?
Please help me setting icon for mac.
Thanks.
You should add icons sizes 16x16, 32x32, 64x64 and 128x128 for optimal performance.
The desktop link icon will come from the icon that has been set for the launcher, not for the installer. install4j will generate ICNS icon files from these images. Alternatively, you can specify your own ICNS files in all icon configurations.

Creating feature in mac app to override the users security setting

I'm a newbie at mac osx development. I would like to know if there's any way to override the mac desktop security settings to allow an application - which is not registered in the Mac App Store, to be installed?
The setting should come from the app that I'm trying to install. That means, whenever I install the app to any mac computer, regardless of its security settings as the following,
Allow applications downloaded from:
Mac App Store
Mac App Store and identified developers
Anywhere
The app should set the settings to Anywhere, allowing it to be installed.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Launch System Preferences from the Apple menu.
Choose “Security & Privacy” and then click the “General” tab, followed by clicking the lock icon in the corner to unlock the settings.
Look for “Allow applications downloaded from:” and choose “Anywhere”.
Accept the security warning and allow.
Note that you should be careful and aware that now the job of protecting the system from malicious apps belongs to you instead of the OS.
Right click the (app) icon and click 'open' in contextual menu - no need to disable the OS security.
This is not possible. The existence of that setting is intended to protect users from malicious executables. If there were a way for any arbitrary executable to override that setting, what protection would it offer? Malicious executables would simply change the setting to "Anywhere" like you suggest, bypassing the security features of Mac OS X.
You need to sign your application using a Mac Developer certificate, which you can obtain from Apple. That will mark your app as built by an "identified developer" and it will launch just fine without changing any settings.
Control Click the app icon to override this security feature. This is a one off, you don't have to change your settings, you can do it per-app.
There is one other way...
All you have to do to do it manually is to open up Terminal, cd into the .app application, cd into the Contents folder, then cd into the MacOS folder, then type ./YourAppNameHere and execute by typing Enter.

Do .dmg files need to be signed?

I've packaged my mac application into a .dmg file, but when I mount the file and double click on the app I get this warning "MyApp is an application downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it."
I don't want my app to look suspicious. I know that in Windows you need to sign your installer so the OS doesn't display the scary red stop icon and the "Unverified"/"Unknown" label, is it the same for OS X?
No, you will always get that notification the first time you start anything you downloaded. It's a flag set onto the files extended attributes.

Setting the default directory where screenshots are saved

I am writing a utility that changes the directory where the Mac OS X saves the screenshots taken when pressing the shortcuts listen in the Keyboard preference panel. Where should that value be saved, to be used from the Mac?
In ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.screencapture.plist under the key location. Source: http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20050824073301844
