Spring data jpa : Code gets executed even after an exception is thrown - spring

Question

I am using Spring boot with spring-data-jpa version 2.0.3.RELEASE.
When I want to persist an entity using CRUDRepository, it throws an exception (DataIntegrityViolationException). I noticed a strange behaviour; the code after the persistence line gets executed even when the exception is thrown.
code:
Client result = clientRepository.save(client);
System.out.println("********* after persistence" + result.getId());
output :

org.springframework.dao.DataIntegrityViolationException: could not execute

....
Note:
the new client is not persisted in the database.
This causes a serious issue, because after that line, I am saving the client in elasticsearch. So There will be inconsistency of data between the database and elasticsearch
