If I manually call:
tabla.search('Advanced:' + search).draw();
where "tabla" is a datatable, the "search" input field is updated with the search text.
The fact is that I am implementing an advanced search feature using the same field.
If user enters something in search field (the simple search), grid will refreshes automatically with the search. This is OK.
However, I have an advanced search form. When this kind of search is performed, I need the search parameter that is posted to the server to include all search fields with the word "Advanced:" prefixed. That way, in server side, I can know if the search is simple or advanced.
The problem is that when using the "search" method, the input field is updated with the search content. If advanced search is performed, this text appears in the field, for example:
Advanced:Campo_1=936969&Campo_2=&Campo_4=&Campo_7=&Campo_3=&Campo_5=&Campo_6=&Campo_8=
Is there way to avoid the search field to be updated?
Thanks
Jaime
Finally, I have created a custom search field and remove the default one.
To accomplish it, I used this dom definition:
dom: "<'row'<'col-sm-12 col-md-4'<\"gridToolbar\">><'col-sm-12 col-md-4'l><'col-sm-12 col-md-4'<\"customSearch\">>>" +
"<'row'<'col-sm-12'tr>>" +
"<'row'<'col-sm-12 col-md-5'i><'col-sm-12 col-md-7'p>>"
Then, in draw.dt event, I added:
$("div.customSearch").html('<div id="facturas_filter" class="dataTables_filter"><label>Buscar:<input type="search" class="form-control form-control-sm" placeholder="" aria-controls="facturas"></label></div>');
$('#facturas_filter input').on('keyup', function () {
tabla.search($('#facturas_filter input').val()).draw();
});
Cheers

Actually this is probably pretty simple, but somehow I am unable to make it work.
I have a grid that loads data from a url. Everything works fine, except one small detail -- I have put a column picker on the table but if they have already shown the search form once, then when they change the visible columns the search form does not reflect the changes no matter how many times they close and open it.
The documentation seems to suggest that recreateForm was the solution, but it does not seem to work.
"when set to true the form is recreated every time the search dialog is activated with the new options from colModel (if they are changed)"
I launch the advanced search from a button outside the grid, if that matters.
function openSearch(grid)
{
var searchParams = {
multipleSearch:true,
overlay:false,
closeOnEscape:true,
Find:"Search",
closeAfterSearch:true,
caption:"Advanced Search",
searchOnEnter:true,
recreateForm:true
};
grid.jqGrid('searchGrid', searchParams);
}
I am wanting to customise the edit form in jqGrid so that instead of using the table structured layout provided I would like to use my own custom css structured layout for the form elements. How should I go about modifying the edit form to allow me to use my own custom look?
You can definitely achieve this by jquery ui dialog. However I can not put full code for you but helps you in the steps you have to do.
1 design your custom form whatever CSS and style you want to apply.
Suppose this is youe custome form
<div id="dialog-div">
<input type="text">
</div>
2 on jquery dialog open the dialog on your jqgrid editbutton click
$("#edit").click(function(){
var rowdata = $("#coolGrid").jqGrid('getGridParam','selrow');
if(rowdata){
$("#dialog-div").dialog('open');
var data = $("#coolGrid").jqGrid('getRowData',rowdata);
alert(data);
}
});
by default it will close as-
$("#dialog-div").dialog({
autoOpen: false,
});
Now as you get data in variable you can put in your edit form and of jquery dialog button save it according to your logic.
Hope this helps you.
I would recommend you first of all to read (or at least look thorough) the code of form editing module which implement the part which you want to replace. You will see that it consist from more as 2000 lines of code. If you write "I would like to ..." you should understand the amount of work for implementing what you ask. If you are able to understand the code and if you are able to write your modification of the code even using libraries like jQuery UI then you can decide whether it's worth to invest your time to do the work. The main advantage of using existing solutions is saving of the time. What you get in the way is not perfect, but using existing products you could create your own solutions quickly and with acceptable quality. The way to study existing products which you can use for free seems me more effective as large investments in reinventing the wheel.

Using templates in form editing
As of version 4.8 we support templates in the form editing. This allow to customize the edit form in a way the developer want. To use a template it is needed to set the parameter template in the edit add/or add options of navigator. This can be done in navigator or in the editing method editGridRow :
$("#grid").jqGrid("navGrid",
{add:true, edit:true,...},
{template: "template string for edit",...}
{template: "template string for add",...},
...
);
and in editGridRow method:
$("#grid").jqGrid("editGridRow",
rowid,
{template: "template string",...}
);
To place the CustomerID field in the template the following code string should be inserted in the template string
{CustomerID}
With other words this is the name from colModel put in { }
The usual problem with table layouts is when you have columns with different widths, especially with those very wide.
I solved my problem adding the attr colspan to wide columns in the beforeShowForm event.
for example
"beforeShowForm":function() {
$('#tr_fieldnameasinColModel > td.DataTD').attr('colspan',5);
}
It's not fancy but it worked for me. Perhaps there is a more elegant way to do the same.
I could arrange the fields in several columns without having to make the form extrawide.
When user click on edit button the page navigate to another page, based on Id get the details of a row and you can display the values..
Previous answer of Creating a link in JQGrid solves your problem.
I've been working on a custom field, which contains a list.
I have to be able to edit the selected item on the list in a richtext editor. (this is the only missing part).
I've read the topic on opening from c# code Opening Rich Text Editor in custom field of Sitecore Content Editor .
This works nice for the "add" button, since i have to open the RTE empty(with default text...), but not for the Edit button.
My aproaches are:
Somehow in the Edit button's message field list:edit(id=$Target) pass the selected index (like list:edit(id=$Target,index=$SelectedIndex), but i don't know how to populate $SelectedIndex
Somehow in the overridden HandleMessage method get the list's selected index. I'm able to get the selected value Sitecore.Context.ClientPage.ClientRequest.Form[ID of list], but thats alone not much of a help, since i won't be able to decide which one to edit if two listitem equals.
Do the richtext editor opening and handling fully in javascript. As i saw at some script in content editor, i tried to do that, but i can't understand it clearly:
richtext editor url:
var page = "/sitecore/shell/Controls/Rich Text Editor/EditorPage.aspx";
some params :
var params = "?da=core&id&ed=" + id + "&vs=1&la=en&fld=" + id + "&so&di=0&hdl=H14074466&us=sitecore%5cadmin&mo";
and the part where i'm not sure:
var result = scForm.browser.showModalDialog(page + params, new Array(window), "dialogHeight:650px; dialogWidth:900px;");
This way the RTE opens as expected (i guess i could get the selected index from javascript and pass it as a parameter later). However when i click ok, i get exception from EditorPage.js saveRichText function: Cannot read property 'ownerDocument' of null. Am i missing some parameter?
Either of the three aproaches is fine for me(also i'm open for new better ones) as soon as i'm able to do it.
Thanks in advance!
Tamas
I was able to enter some javascript into the message:
list:Edit(id=$Target,index='+document.getElementById(ID of the select using $Target ).selectedIndex+')
this way i got the index in HandleMessage.
I'm waiting for better solutions now.
I managed to get jquery datatables plugin to work with asp.net mvc 3 so it posts back json, and with a search function.
Problem now I that I need to move the search box and add a "language" filter outside it's "normal" position next to a custom made menu.
Is there a way that I can integrate:
Language: <select name="languageid">
<option value="SV">Swedish</option>
<option value="EN">English</option>
</select>
Keywords: <input type="text" name="keywords">
To refresh datatables when languageid or keywords change? and still have sorting, paging working?
My brain is only firing at half power today, but the short answer is that this can be done; it's just my suggestions that are kind of vague...sorry!
There are a whole set of language options in oLanguage; it was a bit "Too Long, Didn't Read" for me to sort through, but perhaps something there will help you identify where to set up a language switcher
You can remove the search box from the main table and set up your own, using the fnFilter method to trigger the search
Depending on how your other options are configured (server-side, for example), there are methods to trigger a refresh of the table. You would bind a listener for the languageid or keyword change action (.on('change', '#languageid', function(e) { /* ... */ })) which would fire the appropriate refresh action (in my instance which uses server-side, I use fnDraw())
I'm sorry about the directionless advice, but I wanted you to know at least that this is possible. Posting the question on the datatables.net forums directly might get you the best possible answer.
Using watir-webdriver, I am trying to set the value for a text field.
browser.text_field(:id, "phoneNumbers_value_input").set("5555551234")
When I run that command, I can see that watir found the field because the cursor is set on that field however no text is entered. I have also tried the send_keys and append commands but nothing seemed to work. No exception is thrown from these methods.
The only difference I could find between this field and the other fields on the page(which all work fine) is that it has this JQuery mask on it.
$(selector).mask("(999) 999-9999");
Any ideas on how to set the text field?
Edit:
Some more of the Javascript:
selector = '#' + id(field.id) + '_input';
if (field.format == 'phone') {
$(selector).mask("(999) 999-9999");
}
HTML of the field:
<div id="phoneNumbers_value_form_item" class="form_item validated no_focus">
<label for="phoneNumbers_value" class="form_label">phone</label>
<input type="text" value="" name="phoneNumbers[][value]" id="phoneNumbers_value_input" class="text">
<div class="tip"> </div>
<div class="tip_validating">
</div>
<div class="tip_error">
</div>
</div>
I don't see any element in the HTML you provided that would match the text input field being addressed in the ruby code at the top of your posting. e.g. there is nothing there with an ID of 'phone'
Based on the HTML in your question, I would expect the following to work
browser.text_field(:id, "phoneNumbers_value_input").set("5555551234")
Looking at the sample page you linked in the comments, when I use google chrome and the "Inspect Element" function on the input field with the ID of 'phone' I see that there are a number of event listeners associated with the field (blur, focus, input, keydown, keypress, unmask)
The 'focus' one gets my attention in particular, and seeing it there on that field makes me think that you might then need to first fire an event against the same element, such as the onfocus event, in order to activate the field, then try to set the value.
You'll notice that when you manipulate things manually, the field starts out blank, but as soon as it gets focus it displays the format for the input mask to the user, it may well be that this needs to happen first, before it see's any kind of input.
EDIT: In this case, based on feedback from the questioner, the answer turned out to be that they needed to first fire the 'unmask' event against the text field, and THEN .set the value they wanted, in order for things to work correctly when automating the testing. This doesn't exercise the field masking functionality, but then again I doubt the test mandate in this instance is to extensively test a 3rd party (JQuery) addin, and they are more concerned with the business logic etc in the back end, thus simply being able to set the value without the masking code getting in the way is what is needed.
The problem has to do with focusing on the text field. Even with a .click() somehow webdriver ends up with the cursor at the end if the input field (see issue 2377). Pressing the HOME key moves the cursor to the beginning and allows you to type in the input field, and still have the mask functionality.
In Java:
WebElement txtPhone = getDriver().findElement(By.id("phoneNumbers_value_input"));
txtPhone.sendKeys(org.openqa.selenium.Keys.HOME);
txtPhone.sendKeys(phoneNumber);
