Install wget on mac - macos

I downloaded wget-1.19.tar.gz from this site http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/wget/ and then i exctract the tar file and run
./configure

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables GNUTLS_CFLAGS

See the pkg-config man page for more details.
I found different guides on the web, but none solve my problem.
I try to install different package with brew, for example
brew install gnutls
but nothing works.
In fact if I do brew install gnutls, seems to be correct, but if i digit
make
the error is that:

I want to install wget on my Mac because I have to download folders in this page http://www.tlc.dii.univpm.it/fb4fd/ and using curl I can't download them in recursive way.

there are instructions to install wget here. It involves loading wget using Ruby and then running brew install wget.
From terminal run the following commands:
ruby -e "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install)" < /dev/null 2> /dev/null
then run:
brew install wget

OpenSuse Support Forum recommended that I report a bug on bugzilla:
'Looks like although dependencies are satisfied, there is an upstream compilation error likely due to a change in supported methods. Code identified the error, then tried to resolve on its own (apparently there is some error checking and fixes already in the code, maybe errors like this has happened before). That kind of error isn't likely going to be solved by an end user.'
But this did not solve the problem, please take a look.
Any ideas? Help would be very helpful.

Not sure about Leap, but under Tumbleweed I solved exactly the same problem by removing postgresql10-devel and installing both postgresql12-devel and postgresql12-server-devel.

install mpfr: get into multiple errors

I want to install mpfr package as a non root user. I built it using this:
./configure --with-gmp-lib=/data/home/parisa/gmp-6.1.2/lib
, but after make I got the following error
WARNING: 'makeinfo' is missing on your system.
You should only need it if you modified a '.texi' file, or
any other file indirectly affecting the aspect of the manual.
You might want to install the Texinfo package:
<http://www.gnu.org/software/texinfo/>
The spurious makeinfo call might also be the consequence of
using a buggy 'make' (AIX, DU, IRIX), in which case you might
want to install GNU make:
<http://www.gnu.org/software/make/>
make[1]: *** [mpfr.info] Error 127
make[1]: Leaving directory `/data/home/parisa/mpfr-3.1.5/doc'
make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
I searched this error in Internet, but I couldn't find something useful and easy to understand. So, I tried to install texinfo, but after configuring this warning message appears:
WARNING: 'aclocal-1.15' is missing on your system.
You should only need it if you modified 'acinclude.m4' or
'configure.ac' or m4 files included by 'configure.ac'.
The 'aclocal' program is part of the GNU Automake package:
<http://www.gnu.org/software/automake>
It also requires GNU Autoconf, GNU m4 and Perl in order to run:
<http://www.gnu.org/software/autoconf>
<http://www.gnu.org/software/m4/>
<http://www.perl.org/>
make: *** [aclocal.m4] Error 127
I also tried autoreconf -f -i before configuring, but with no success. I tried to use automake installed on our cluster by using LD_LIBRARY_PATH but again nothing changed.

Binutils build fails on Mac OS X 10.10.5 Yosemite

After downloading the package of GNU Binutils 2.25
I followed the instructions on "Installing Binutils":
./cnofigure
make
errors happened after build:
../../binutils-gdb/binutils/nm.c:1733:28: error: 'sbrk' is deprecated [-Werror,-Wdeprecated-declarations]

make[3]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1

make[1]: *** [all-binutils] Error 2
make: *** [all] Error 2
I did some research on net and they said using this command
./configure --prefix=/usr --disable-werror
and I get
/Library/Developer/CommandLineTools/usr/bin/make all-recursive
make[8]: Nothing to be done for 'all-am'.
make[1]: Nothing to be done for 'all-target'.
(what does that mean "nothing to be done for all-am and all-target")
I don't know what to do anymore.
Is it a bug or it's me doing something wrong?
Please help.
You really would make life easier for yourself if you used homebrew as a package manager on OSX.
Goto the homebrew website and copy and paste the one-line install script into your Terminal.
Then you can install binutils simply by typing
brew install binutils
If, down the line, you want to find GNU sed, or ImageMagick, you can just do
brew search sed
or
brew search imagemagick
then
brew install sed
If you have any problems, just run
brew doctor
If you want to update all your packages, just run
brew update
brew upgrade --all
More cool ideas and suggestions here.
After build failure , you should clean previously generated object files
So,
make clean
./configure --prefix=/usr --disable-werror
make

compiling gcc - cannot find output from flex; giving up

I am trying to compile gcc-4.9RC or gcc-4.8.2 on Debian (6 or 7).
There is flex 2.5.35 installed and I even compiled my own flex 2.5.39.
I confirmed it generates a yy.c output from a simple .l file.
Also I learned at gcc documentation, that flex shouldn't be necessary when compiling from a release (which the gcc-4.8.2 is).
Nevertheless I always get this in some internal configure after running make:
checking for bison... bison -y
checking for flex... flex
checking lex output file root... configure: error: cannot find output from flex; giving up
make[2]: *** [configure-stage1-gmp] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `***/gcc-bin-8'
make[1]: *** [stage1-bubble] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `***/gcc-bin-8'
make: *** [all] Error 2
It is configured with:
../gcc-4.8.2/configure --enable-languages=c,c++,fortran --with-cloog --prefix=/home/***/gcc-4.8.2
I have no idea what should I try more.
This error is generated whilst building gmp (a pre-requisite of gcc). It's a known bug in gmp present in 4.8.3 Ref :gmp bug. If you ran contrib/download_prerequisites, you would get gmp 4.8.3 by default. Workaround is to edit gmp-4.8.3/configure.in & gmp-4.8.3/configure and change
M4=m4-not-required
for
M4=m4

Homebrew and Permission denied issue

I try to compile and install libapreq2 via Homebrew package manager.
brew create http://www.apache.si//httpd/libapreq/libapreq2-2.13.tar.gz
The content of the libapreq2.rb formula is as follows.
require 'formula'
class Libapreq2 < Formula
url 'http://www.apache.si//httpd/libapreq/libapreq2-2.13.tar.gz'

# depends_on 'cmake'
def install
system "./configure", "--disable-debug", "--disable-dependency-tracking",
"--prefix=#{prefix}"
# system "cmake . #{std_cmake_parameters}"
system "make install"
end
end
I proceed with
brew install -vd libapreq2
but unfortunately the compilation ended with errors.

Brew try to install some files outside the /usr/local/Cellar/libapreq2/ directory. I wonder how to manage these "permission denied" issues. I tried as root user (i.e., sudo brew install libapreq2), but if I later want to remove the library, only the files in /usr/local/Cellar/libapreq2/ are removed.
Thanks for any pointers.
Try this:
sudo chown -R $(whoami) /usr/local/Cellar/libapreq2/
It works for me!
Your package really shouldn't install anything in the system includes in /usr/include. The place for homebrew packaged includes is /usr/local/include (as symlinks into Cellar). You'll just have to adjust your ./configure invocation to use #{prefix}/include for the includes (probably --incdir or something very similar).
