Title says it all. I open a test file. Type $package.. Nothing comes up. It's not a delay issue. It's not an empty package. How do I get intellisense to turn on?

I'm not sure as to the whys and the wherefores, but the solution was to reinstall all of the Go tools in VSCode. Look for "Go: Install/Update Tools". I selected them all. Once they installed,restart VScode. At this point autocomplete turned on.
I didn't remember a VSCode update before things broke. If you run into this issue, try reinstalling the tools within VScode.
Be sure your opened go file, the one you try to edit, is part of the open project folder in vs-code, otherwise the auto-completion will not work properly. If you want to edit file from other module it's better to open the module folder in other instance of vs-code and edit it from there.
If the intellisense was already working and suddenly stops, you may try any of the below or both to resolve this.

Delete the .VS folder from your project.

I'm looking a way to keep breakpoint settings between two computers with Xcode under github.
Addin that file:
server:myproject.xcodeproj alex$ ls xcuserdata/alex.xcuserdatad/xcdebugger/
Breakpoints.xcbkptlist
has no success.
Where i'm wrong?
UPDATE - it's working now, but i need to restart Xcode to see updated breakpoints. any chances to avoid it?
If you're trying to share through git, you probably have *.xcuserdatad ignored (if not, you should). If you don't mind everyone seeing the breakpoint, you can share it from within Xcode:
Right-click the breakpoint in the breakpoint navigator and select "Share":
You should now be able to add the file via git. It'll be in a location like this:
Test/Test.xcodeproj/xcshareddata/xcdebugger/Breakpoints.xcbkptlist
Anybody else working on the project should now be able to use that breakpoint.
Issue : I setup Zend Studio before I installed Zend server and start a important project. Now the PROJECT_LOC for this one project is in C:\Users\Username\Zend\workspaces\proejctname\projectname.
So it's not the end of the world, BUT it is slowing down progress when I have to move the files to the htdocs to test.
I searched online with no luck no how to change it.
If I right click on the project and go to proprieties, then click Resources/linked Resources, I can see it. But if I highlight it the edit button is not clickable. I search for a config file, but was unable to locate the value for PROJECT_LOC.
I have searched all the config files and the internet to no avail. Can I setup another project and import these files thus doing what I need without finding out how to change PROJECT_LOC.

I've had the same problem with Zend, several times in fact. I could never figure out how to fix it so I wood have to completely delete the project and re-add it. This would sometimes fix the issue and sometimes not so I just assumed it was an error in the install or on my computer.
I am opening files from a server ASP.net and the VB codebehind files, and my visual studio is not working correctly, Intellisense is dead and if i right click the "Go to defenition" option is disabled. These files are not part of a solution.
This is strange though because it was working properly yesterday. If I create a new project the intellisense works great, yet opening this single file it fails.
I have tried to re enable intellisense by resetting visual studio, I tried editing the text editor settings so that Auto list members and Parameter information are both checked. I even tried installing ReSharper and nothing worked. I have rebooted twice and even tried copying the file to a local drive to work on yet nothing.
Does anyone know why this is happening and what I could do to solve the problem? Im working on a rather complex problem and intellisense would make it a lot easier.
I managed to fix this problem which manifested itself after my ReSharper trial expired.
Steps to fix are:
Tools/Import and Export Settings
Reset all settings
Back up your config
Select your environment settings and finish
Intellisense started working again straight away.
For me simply hitting Ctrl+Alt+Space to re-enable Autocompletion fixed it.
I had the same problem. It only affected one of my solutions. Others seemed fine.
To correct it I deleted the solution's user options file (.suo).
When I opened the solution again, intellisense was working.
For the benefit of searchers, Nicks suggestion is good, but if you don't want to reset all your settings, you could follow the recommendation in this post.
It states - "go to "Tools | Options | Text Editor | C# | General and check the "Auto list members" and "Parameter information" checkboxes"
I should first note that upgrading my RAM from 4 to 16GB seems to have made this issue go away.
Here's the steps I go through:
If only one file/window appears to be affected, close/reopen that file. If that doesn't work, try below.
In Visual Studio:
Click Tools->Options->Text Editor->All Languages->General
Uncheck "Auto list members"
Uncheck "Parameter information"
Check "Auto list members" (yes, the one you just unchecked)
Check "Parameter information" (again, the one you just unchecked)
Click OK
If this doesn't work, here's a few more steps to try:
Close all VS documents and reopen
If still not working, close/reopen solution
If still not working, restart VS.
For C++ projects:
MSDN has a few things to try: MSDN suggestions
The corrupt .ncb file seems a likely culprit.
From MSDN:
Close the solution.
Delete the .ncb file.
Reopen the solution. (This creates a new .ncb file.)
Sometimes, it could be because of different extension style that you are using for the files.
In my case Intellisense is working in all the files except for a file in a different project of the same solution.
When I have changed the extension of the file to cxx from cpp,it started working.
The includes and other files in the solution are of extension .cxx or .txx.

Save your solution. Closing the VS2010 instance for this solution and re-oprning worked for me.
Here I assume that Intellisense was working OK but stopped for some unknown reason without changing any default settings.

After uninstalling ReSharper, the squigglies that show up underneath a syntax error stopped showing up in the code editor.
This blog post helped me fix the issue.
Try this:
Close any open instances of visual studio, delete the folder 10.0 inside `C:\Users[username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\VisualStudio\' and restart the visual studio. Issue will be fixed.
In my case, none of the above worked (although I discovered that sometimes the *.suo file is the trouble maker - in those cases deleting it helps).
I fixed it successfully the following way: Let's assume your solution has the name MySolution. Do the following:
Reset the settings (as described here). Close Visual Studio 2012.
Locate the file MySolution.sln.DotSettings (it is in the same folder as your MySolution.sln file)
Rename or delete it (for example rename it to XMySolution.sln.DotSettingsX so VS won't read it)
Open your solution by double-clicking on the MySolution.sln file
And afterwards Intellisense was working again just fine. I assume the file MySolution.sln.DotSettings got corrupted.
Note: The file MySolution.sln.DotSettings was created and checked in to TFS by a team colleague who had installed ReSharper. The issue occurred on a different PC without ReSharper where the same project was opened.

The fix for the error in the above thread also resulted in the intellisense starting to work again.
I fixed this problem by removing Sybase Power Designer VS extension.
You can try to disable other extensions.
Exactly the same issue, though would appear only on certain projects (even within a single solution).
Removing the *.*proj.user file (e.g. *.csproj.user) for the projects in question properly reset the missing features ("Go To Definition", "Organize Usings", Intellisense on certain types, etc).
In our case, I suspect this happens sometimes when we switch branches with an SCM that uses a single working directory (like git). If setup properly, it wouldn't track *.user* files but that means that if there are incompatible changes in it across different branches, you need to regenerate it.
So of course the "sometimes" would depend on the current branch and the next branch.
Unfortunately I don't see a very good solution if that's the case. Sometimes you really want to keep the user settings across branches if they're compatible, sometimes you want to regenerate them unconditionally. Ideally, you might even want to only change parts of them when switching, while keeping other parts.
If you never need to keep them and are fine with regenerating them every time, then you can configure your SCM to always remove these files while switching branches (e.g. using hooks for git). This is a pretty naive solution however, doing it more universally correctly would require a smarter system (aware of the semantics behind the .user files and capable of capturing/prompting user intent when needed).
save, close and reopen the source file you are working on. This works every time for me.
Try to add the statement:

...at beginning of your page. The above example is applied for page Default.aspx written in VB.NET.
This is the problem related to Microsoft MSDN , your MSDN might be getting some problem. The solutions to this is uninstall MSDN and then re-install . before going for this make sure that you system is free from virus attack.

This project was working fine, then I restarted my computer to install a new GPU, and now it is producing the following error when I try to run it:
Error while trying to run project: Unable to start program:
"E:\Workspace\...\....exe"
Cannot find the file specified.
I have confirmed that the file mentioned does exist at the path specified by the error message.
I have tried to "Clean Solution" and "Rebuild Solution".
Navigating to the executable file manually and running it works. The error above is produced when I press the "Run" button in VS2010.
Does anyone know why this might be happening?
I had this issue on VS2008: I removed the .suo; .ncb; and user project file, then restarted the solution and it fixed the problem for me.
Using the repair tool in the VS Management fixed everything.
(I.e. right click Visual Studio 2010 and select Change/Remove from the Uninstall Programs tool in the Windows Control Panel, and click Repair in the Visual Studio Management window when it loads.)
The only way that I was able to get over this (reinstall wasn't an option) was to set the project properties->web->start action->"don't open a page. wait for a request from an external application."
BTW, I think that at some point this started because of a mod that I made to machine.config. :) And no, I don't remember what it was. It does seem to be this very apocalyptic bug where once you get it never goes away.
So if you found this page from Google, you should know that you are doomed. :)
For me it was the virus scanner not liking the fact I have in my exe filename multiple periods.
i.e
project.class.console.exe <- won't run
console.exe <- will run

I personally have this issue in Visual 2012 with x64 applications when I check the option "Managed C++ Compatibility Mode" of Debugging->General options of Tools->Options menu.
=> Unchecking this option fixes the problem.
For me, it was... the AntiVirus! Kaspersky Endpoint security 10. It seems that the frequent compilations and the changing of the exe, caused it to block the file.
I encountered this error when "" was added by mistake to my command line arguments when altering properties for "All Configurations". Removing them from RightClickProject->Properties->Configuration Properties->Debugging->Command Arguments allowed it to run in the debugger again.
I think that VS is no longer able to resolve the path for some reason.
You can try going to the "Project Properties" dialog, select the "Debug" tab, select "Start external program" on the "Start Action" group and type the full path to the executable.
Reset the diagnostics and the static analysis under the, for example, Properties -> FORTRAN -> diagnostics. Particular be careful the 'Level of Static Security Analysis' and set it none. Good luck!
I had the same problem.
The cause for me was that the Command option in Configuration Properties | Debugging had been reset to its default value.
I encountered a similar problem. And I found the solution to be totally unrelated to the error. The trick was renaming the assembly name. Solution: VS 2013 -> Project properties -> Application tab -> AssemblyName property changed to new name < 25 chars

I just re-ran into the same issue: Console App, Visual Studio 2013, 64 bit OS. The project's settings was set to "Any CPU", I created a new configuration for x86 and VS was happy.
In Your Solution Explorer, Right Click your solution (.sln), choose "Configuration Manager"
Active Solution Platform: If it's saying "Any CPU", click the drop down arrow and choose ""
In the "Type or select the new platform", enter "x86"
Now, make sure that the "Active solution platform" is set to x86
Run (F5)
I've tried deleting .suo; .ncb; .sdf; rebuild etc. Nothing helped.
The message was:
Unable to start program
'C:\Users\some user\Downloads\project name\.\Debug\fil_name.exe'
The system cannot find the file specified.
The problem was mismatched file name and wrong path to that file.
1. So went to Project->Properties->Linker->General-> and on the right pane in 'Output file' changed the name from 'fil_name.exe' to 'file_name.exe'
The file_name.exe was in deeper folder like -> \Debug\crv.
2. Also did Project->Properties->Configuration Properties-> and on the right pane in 'Output Directory' edited '.\Debug\' to '.\Debug\crv'

Deleting and restoring the entire solution from the repository resolved the issue for me. I didn't find this solution listed in any of the other answers, so thought it might help someone.
I had a similar problem, but none of the solutions listed here helped. My problem was that my solution has multiple projects and the wrong one was selected as the StartUp Project, once I changed that, it worked.
In case of Windows applications, the error is solved changing the running project properties.
Right click on current running project, select Properties
Debug -> Check Enable unmanaged code debugging and press save button in menu.
This configuration is not saved to [CurrentProject].csproj (or [CurrentProject].vbproj).
It is saved to:
[CurrentProject].csproj.user (or [CurrentProject].vbproj.user)
If you use a code repository, usually this file is not saved undo version control.
I am only posting this because I had a specific issue with the command line arguments I was passing in. Being inexperienced with the command line I was using "<" and ">" in my arguments and it was redirecting the file on me. Hope this helps someone.
I had similar trouble in Visual Studio 2019.
I need rebuilding old project to new framework.
I change framework with 3.5 to 4.7 it very simple, but application not started.
I had try change project and solution settings long time and many position it is not helped me.
Solution will be simle:
Open config file to text edit.
And delete and section <system.web>
Run project.
From the top menu "Build" -> "Rebuild Solution", the .exe file was somehow deleted or corrupted, the "Rebuild Solution will create a new one!
I was able to use linq-to-sql, now suddenly it stopped working. When double clicking dbml file, it says:
"there is not editor for "...my.dbml" , make sure the application for
the file type(.dbml) is installed.
I tried to devenv /resetsettings, it does not help. So I repair/reinstall option for vs.net 2008 setup, it failed again without useful debugging logging?
Anyone has the same experience?
I finally solved the problem like this:
I renamed my folder in C:\Documents and Settings and login again, let the system regenerate every thing for me, that solvde the problem, later I move my files from the renamed folder to the new user profile.
I guess this has something to do with me installation of F#, and IRON Ruby.
