error while unloading dynamically created labels in vb6 - vb6

I have generated some labels dynamically based on data in grid. when user read the data i show those labels again, But when user tries to edit the data i'm unloading all the labels and loading again depend on new data.But the Problem is when i tried to unload already loaded label the error says "UNABLE TO UNLOAD WITHIN THIS CONTEXT". only 0th index label is added on design time. with adding the label the properties of frame on which they are placed are also changes
For j = 0 To LbYarnName.UBound
If j > 0 Then
Unload LbYarnName(j)
Unload LbMeter(j)
Unload Lbissue(j)
Unload LbBal(j)
Else
LbYarnName(0).Caption = "-"
LbMeter(0).Caption = "-"
Lbissue(0).Caption = "-"
LbBal(0).Caption = "-"
End If
Next

There are many places where an Unload method can't be used, specifically within several types of events. The ones that have bitten me in the past are the .Resize and .Paint events of a form, but there are others, too. Note that the prohibition on the Unload method extends to controls on the form, not just the form itself.
Microsoft lists several other places this error can be raised: Unable to unload within this context (Error 365)

Blocking code in custom message box in VB6

In my vb6 project, I created my own msgbox using a form, due to difficulties in changing
the font/language of in-built msgbox. A search with google gave the idea of own msg-
box rather than trying msgbox of VB. Now the problem is : - when the user exits the
program, 3 options are given: to close, to restart and to cancel exit. The user need not
again go through the process of giving password etc in restart option. If I give cancel =
true in the QueryUnload event, then 2nd option does not work, 3rd option works. If
cancel = true is not given, 2nd option works, but 3rd option does not. It appears that
the main form does not get unloaded if cancel = true. Unless & until the main form
unloads, the program will not work with the fresh data to be given by the user in the
initial Form. Since the code after "msgbox.show" depends on options, it is not possible
to write that code in the same sub, not even in the same form code. Is there any way
to stop the subsequent code after "msgbox.show" and continue the same after getting
option? (like in the in-built msgbox of VB.) I am not an expert in VB, so please correct
if I made some mistake; also help with advice/suggestions.
EDIT:- [Extended explanation]
The 3 forms in my project:
Initial form for password, data etc. This is input Form for user.
Main Form. This Form shows the results after process of input.
frmMsgBox. This is a custom msgbox created using a form.
Main Form code portion. Code for closing the program:
Private Sub Form_QueryUnload(Cancel as.......)
cancel = True
frmMsgBox.Label1.caption = Do you wish to 1.Exit 2.Restart
3.Cancel the exit?
frmMsgBox.Show
End sub
(The above msgbox is almost like an in-built msgbox in VB with
vbYesNoCancel buttons) The message is in regional language,
which was the main reason forced me to use my own msgbox.
After MsgBox appears, the user selects one of the above options
using 3 commandButtons placed in that Form. The code after
clicking these buttons is written in the code portion of frmMsgBox:
Command1_Click 'This is for Exit from the Program.
All Forms.unload, All forms set to nothing, end.
Command2_click 'This is for restarting the Program.
Unload Main Form, set to nothing
Load Initial Form
Initial Fom.show
frmMsgBox.Hide
Command3_Click 'This is for cancelling the exit request.
Main Form.Show
frmMsgBox.Hide
With the above code, I have no problem with options 1 & 3,
i.e; to exit from the program or to start. The frmMsgBox hides,
the initial form shows - these are OK, but the main form does
not unload nor it is removed from memory. Because of this,
whatever new data is given by the user in the initial form now
is not being processed, the main form is struck with the old results.
If cancel = true is removed from the code above, Options 1 & 2
are OK, but option 3 does not work. Then the Main Form loses
all its results (all labels, texts etc in that Form turn blank.)

VB6 runtime error of MSFlexgrid

Whenever i run my project, it highlights the "Private Sub HighlightGridRow(grd As MSFlexGrid, iRow As Long)" row and pops up a box with the error message "User-defined type not defined". What can i do to make it work?
Private Sub HighlightGridRow(grd As MSFlexGrid, iRow As Long)
With grd
If .Rows > 1 Then
.Row = iRow
.Col = 1
.ColSel = .Cols - 1
.RowSel = iRow
End If
End With
End Sub
VB6 is not knowing what the type MSFlexGrid is, so it's assuming that it's a user-defined type that you haven't defined. More likely, you're trying to use a component that isn't referenced. You need to go to Components in the Project menu and add the Flex Grid component that you're trying to use.
This isn't quite an exact duplicate of this question since it's a different component missing, but you may be able to find more useful information there as well.
Seems likely that MSFlexGrid is not a defined type, probably because you didn't add the OCX to the ToolBox. Maybe the program uses MSHFlexGrid instead and you have copy/pasted code that doesn't fit?
Shouldn't have anything to do with the OCX not being registered. That would more likely fail on an object creation exception instead.
As Peter Cooper Jr said, you probably don't have MSFlexGrid referenced in your project. To do that, go to Project -> Components, then check the box next to "Microsoft FlexGrid Control 6.0" if it's on the list. If not, you will have to click browse and manually add it.
If you can't find the ocx, just download it:

Find a button on a web page looking for part of its InnerText string in Visual Studio

I am writing automated tests for a website. On the website there is a button that will have the inner text "All Open" + four random digits. For example: "All Open2957". Is there a way to find the button using only the "All Open" part of the string?
This does not work since the string is missing the four last digits:
HtmlSpan uIAllOpenPane = new HtmlSpan();
uIAllOpenPane.SearchProperties[HtmlDiv.PropertyNames.InnerText] = "All Open";
The simple answer is to use the PropertyExpressionOperator.Contains rather than PropertyExpressionOperator.EqualTo comparator and search for just the required text.
For recorded tests, find the control in the UI Map editor and view its properties panel. Click the "Search properties" field and then click the ellipsis. The window that appears allows the comparator and the required text to be altered.
For hand coded tests use code of the form:
uIAllOpenPane.SearchProperties.Add(HtmlDiv.PropertyNames.InnerText,
"All Open",
PropertyExpressionOperator.Contains);
According to this Microsoft blog the array index style (ie with [ and ]) as used in the question internally calls the SearchProperties.Add(...) but that style has no variation to specify ...Contains, so call the ...Add(...) explicitly.
Check this out
Button allOpenButton = (Button)BrowserWindow.ExecuteScript("allOpenButton = function(){var found; $('input[type=\"button\"]').each(function(){ if($(this).val().indexOf('All Open') > -1){ found = $(this);};}); return found;}; return allOpenButton();");
When trying to locate the controller I only got the FailedToPerformActionOnHiddenC‌ontrolException. Eventually I was able to locate the DIV container that contained the controller I was trying to locate instead of focusing on finding the controller directly. After finding the container I could locate the controller using
HtmlSpan uIAllOpenPane = new HtmlSpan(container);
uIAllOpenPane.SearchProperties.Add(HtmlDiv.PropertyNames.InnerText, "All Open",
PropertyExpressionOperator.Contains);
The code from #AdrianHHH helped with the problem when part of the string is randomized each time you encounter the controller.

MvvmCross : databinding programmatically

I think I need to bind data programmatically to solve my problem.
I use a TabHost which hosts 2 Tabs.
I need to load the MvxBindableListView in the second tab when TabHost appears and keep the first tab as default tab.
What I'm doing is starting the second tab activity without problem because I check the process using this code:
protected override void OnViewModelSet()
{
SetContentView(Resource.Layout.Page_ActivityView);
System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine("activityView started");
MvxBindableListView mvxBindableListView = FindViewById<MvxBindableListView>(Resource.Id.mvxBindableListView);
mvxBindableListView.ChildViewAdded += new System.EventHandler<Android.Views.ViewGroup.ChildViewAddedEventArgs>(mvxBindableListView_ChildViewAdded);
}
"activityView started" is displayed in output debugger, but MvxBindableListView.ChildViewAdded event isn't raised, only when I click the second tab.
So I suppose that MvxBindableListView is not databound.
Thanks in advance to help me loading my second tab programmatically.
I think ChildViewAdded is an event that occurs when the ListView is rendered - at that time when it needs to 'draw list items', then it will ask its adapter for child Views for the screen. As you scroll down the list, it will then ask for more child views - but it will also reuse views - so for a simple list you should only ever (hopefully) get N+1 calls on ChildViewAdded for a list which shows N items at one time.
So it's perfectly possible for a list to be databound but never to call ChildViewAdded - that won't get called until the list is 'drawn'
Sadly the Xamarin docs aren't helpful here - http://docs.mono-android.net/monodoc.ashx?link=E%3AAndroid.Views.ViewGroup.ChildViewAdded
Note: if you do actually want to bind programatically, then you can do this to - using Bind() methods and extension methods. However, I haven't expanded on that here - as it doesn't sound like that's actually what you need!

Access controls of parent dialog in VB6

I have a dialog in vb6 which changes the values being displayed in its parent dialog.
The x1 is displayed in txt_c1 text in parent dialog and it has a txt_1validate function too for the text box. Now i want to change the value of txt_c1 txtbox from child dialog and then call its validate function. But the problem is that txt_c1 is not available in child dialog.
Please note that i am working in vb6 in the MS VB 6.0 IDE
Forms are just classes and can therefore be instantiated explictly (and you will probably find your life easier if you do rather than using the automatic instantiation in VB6) and references to forms can be assigned.
You can solve your problem by creating a public property on your child dialog (Form1.frm) of type Form that you set to the instance of the parent dialog thus giving you access to the controls andd methods on the parent from the child.
My VB6 is somewhat rusty (and I don't have an installed instance available) so this isn't going to be actual, correct code - but something along the lines of the following should work
In the code that calls the child:
Form childDialog = new Form1
childDialog.Parent = this
childDialog.ShowModal
Then in the child dialog:
Parent.txt_c1 = newValue
if not Parent.Validate then
...
end if
