How to stop IISExpress to rewrite / redirect - iis-express

I have checked web.config.
I have checked applicationhost.config in many locations:
.vs/
{user}\Documents\IISExpress\config
I have also used appcmd list vdir but IISExpress keeps rewriting / redirecting.
What else could I check?
Thankx

Magento has a redirect loop

My Magento web site home page has a redirect loop error. When I try to open it it goes to my old server url and gives the error:
The webpage resulted in too many redirects. Clearing your cookies for this site or allowing third-party cookies may fix the problem. If not, it is possibly a server configuration issue and not a problem with your computer.
When I try to go into admin it takes to me old server admin url without any error.
I down loaded the fresh data base and connected my store to that it works fine but when i connect it my old data base it give same error.
Please advise me.
This isn't an ideal solution, but I was having issues with Magento 1.9.x.
The setup was: Nginx Proxy & SSL Terminator => Apache Webserver
No matter what I did enabling SSL caused a redirection loop. I narrowed the issue down to Magento rather than the Nginx configurations.
It was like Magento didn't know it was receiving a secure connection from Nginx even though the correct headers were set.
The dirty solution was to add some code to the very bottom of index.php within the magento root directory (ie. /var/www/magento) just before the Mage::run... line, like so:
if( isset($_SERVER['HTTP_X_FORWARDED_PROTO']) ) {
$_SERVER['HTTPS'] = 'on';
$_SERVER['SERVER_PORT'] = 443;
}
Mage::run($mageRunCode, $mageRunType);
Wrong permissions can also cause this to happen. So in addition to truncating the var/cache and var/session folders, go ahead and make sure that you have the proper permissions on the app, skin, and includes directories, sub-directories and files. I believe the suggested permission setting is 644. You can do this with a proper FTP client such as FireZilla.
Go to table core_config_data
Update these value to be your localhost url(or whatever url you are providing while installation):
web/secure/base_url //(new url)
web/unsecure/base_url // (new url)
Empty the var folder.
I got it fixed.
I manually deleted my cache i was unable to login in my amdin and it get fixed
My issue was Cloudflare, put it in Development mode and it worked. It was cache related.
Issue: ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS - redirected you too many times
This issue is related cookie domain name.
For ex: if you already installed Magento 2 in www.example.com, and now you change magento base path to sub domain path like www.subdomain.example.com means, then you need to update your cookie domain entry inside of core_config_data table. You cannot access magento 2 backend so you can use following query to check record exist else use insert query.
SELECT * FROM `core_config_data` WHERE `path` REGEXP 'cookie_domain'
if record exit then update subdomain.example.com to the value column.
else
INSERT INTO `core_config_data` (`scope`, `scope_id`, `path`, `value`) VALUES ('default', 0, 'web/cookie/cookie_domain', 'subdomain.example.com');
Then flush cache using command php bin/magento cache:flush
Refresh magento 2 admin, now you can access admin. try this. thanks.
Note: if you are not using cookie domain, then don't configure this settings, if you configuration wrong then also you can face this error, so to fix that error update value to default configuration.
I had the same issue and after reloading and reloading my page I noticed that the error message responded to www.mydomain.tld and sometimes to mydomain.tld. I'm using Plesk on the server and I remembered that I set the Domain to always be called without www. I just changed that to none in the hosting settings of the domain. Lucky me, that solved that issue. Hope that helps someone else.

Why won't VS 2010 virtual server recognize a path starting with "/"?

When I design my web-application, I like to use "/" to designate the access to the root directory. Now, this works perfectly on my production site run on IIS 7.5.
However, when I try to run the site on VS 2010's virtual server, I keep getting 404 errors for any path that starts with "/".
Now, when I get a 404 error, the address in the addressbar is the correct address. For example, I have a link to /index.aspx' - and on the iis7.5 webserver, the path becomeshttp://my.site.com/index.aspxand it navigates perfectly. However on the VS virtual server, the path becomeshttp://localhost:61679/index.aspx` and I get a 404 error.
However, if I don't use the "/" in the path - that is, I either use a full path or leave it off, then the virtual server navigates to http://localhost:61679/index.aspx like is supposed to.
So the address is the same whether the "/" is the first character or not.
None of these links are using runat="server", so I don't need to worry about using ~.
Is there a setting somewhere to enable this?
[update]
I have a few more clues:
- When I navigate to http://localhost:61679/index.aspx it gets a 404.
- If I navigate to http://localhost:61679/mysite/index.aspx it loads fine.
- Links that start with "/" lead to http://localhost:61679/ NOT http://localhost:61679/mysite.
- This means that the "/" tells the VS server to navigate to the root of the server, not to the root of the site. However, it doesn't work this way in IIS.
If I tell VS to use IIS Express, everything works just fine.
That means there must be a setting somewhere to make "/" refer to the root of the site for Visual Studio's built-in server (I have referred to it as "virtual server").

moving modx to new server - clear cache

I moved website to new server, domain stay the same, files structure stay the same, but path to public_html has beed changed. Database has been also moved.
I tried to clean cache, but i dont think I made it. This is error i get:
Could not find action file at: /home/account_name/domains/domain.co.uk/public_html/manager/controllers/default/welcome.php
account_name is different now.
I havent access to the old server, so I cant login and clear cache. I tried to do it using php script I found, but it didnt help.
Moving to new server documentation - there is welcome.php error and how to fix it, but since I haven't access to website from old server, I can't do it.
Also I can't login and clear cache in admin panel, because this message in when i wan get access to it.
I also change in db, in modx_workspaces->path from {core_path} to home/account_name/domains/domain.co.uk/publis_html/core, but didn't help.
How can i clear cache or if it's not the case, what should I do to make it work?
Update
I have change location in settings:
config.core.php
connectors/config.core.php
core/config/config.inc.php
manager/config.core.php
In .htaccess I couldn't find path to website, I didn't change anything.
I remove all content from core/cache/, except one file (.gitignore), and if I go to domain.co.uk/manager/ it's blank page, no content at all. And still can't log in.
Clear the cache on the new server manually VIA FTP or from a shell.
Change that modx_workspaces thing back
did you change all your settings in core/config/config.inc.php ?? if not do so, that is where you will set most of your paths & database credentials.
you have a backup? good!
Now upgrade to the same version of modx, that should fix all your path issues. [make sure you are not logged into the manager while trying to upgrade]
When moving the site to the new server rather watch two things:
the right paths into this files
/config.core.php
/core/config/config.inc.php
/connectors/config.core.php
/manager/config.core.php
the folder /core/cache/ is empty. They can be cleaned simply by removing the contents via ftp.
and correct the value in the database back to {core_path}

Why am I getting error 500.0 in when using IIS Express (significant debug info included)

I created a blank MVC 3 application on VS2010 SP1, and set the app to use IIS Express. When I debug, I get error 500.0 (0x80070585)
I am able to succesfuly run the app using the VS dev server
I have set the app directory to Full Permissions for Everyone, just to eliminate all possibility of security issues. I have further verified that IIS express is able to hit the web.config by confirming it using SysInternals ProcMon. ProcMon does not show the IISExpress process attempting to read from any other files in my application directory.
I have followed the suggestions in the following question, but it does not give me any better information. HTTP 500 Internal Error - IIS websites
No logs are generated in the IISExpress directory in either the Logs or TraceLogs directory, but a log is created in Temp, however it is not very useful.
Successfully registered URL "http://localhost:62017/" for site "MvcApplication1" application "/"
Registration completed for site "MvcApplication1"
Request ended: http://localhost:62017/ with HTTP status 500.0
Request ended: http://localhost:62017/ with HTTP status 500.0
Request ended: http://localhost:62017/ with HTTP status 500.0
There are no messages I am able to find in the Event Viewer
**Updates : **
Disabled firewall, no change
Ran IISExpress via command line, no change
I had the same issue last week, the app running perfect in dev web server from VS Studio. But in IISExpress anytime HTTP Error 500. My solution on this time was:
close VS Studio - solution set with IISExpress
got to: /Document/IISExpress/config/ in your profile
rename or delete applicationhost.config
open your solution in VS Studio
a Dialog will fire up from IISExpress - this will set a fresh config.
try to run your web app
You may have some mime code in the Web.Config file like this:
<mimeMap fileExtension=".svg" mimeType="image/svg+xml" />
if so, you should remove mimeMap before adding like this:
.
..
...
....
</system.web>
<system.webServer>
<staticContent>
<remove fileExtension=".svg" />
<mimeMap fileExtension=".svg" mimeType="image/svg+xml" />
</staticContent>
</system.webServer>
....
...
..
.
This may be related to a conflict between the IIS Express applicationhost.config and your web.config.
A mimeType was added to my local web.config that was already present in the applicationhost.config and IIS Express started serving many 500 errors.
You may also notice this error in your Windows Event Log, "The directory specified for caching compressed content is invalid. Static compression is being disabled."
More info: http://blog.degree.no/2013/04/the-directory-specified-for-caching-compressed-content-is-invalid-static-compression-is-being-disabled/
I removed the mimeTypes from the web.config and the issue was resolved.
applicationhost.config location: C:\Users\[User]\Documents\IISExpress\config
reinstalling iis express appears to have resolved this problem
Are you using any PLINQ(.AsParallel) or Parallel.For or similar methods? I've found that the AggregateExceptions they throw aren't handled well by MVC (In my case, I got a blank 500 page and nothing in Logs/Event logs).
I identified the problem by paying attention to the "First Chance" exceptions which are logged in the Debug output window in VS. Try running the site, waiting for it to error, clearing the Debug window and the reloading the page. Do you see anything useful?
There might be a problem with your config files, specifically web.config and applicationhost.config.
The only way I know how to diagnose this, is to publish a build to regular IIS, and in IIS Manager check the "Error Pages" module of the Site. If it is indeed an issue with those config files, you'll get a popup here with something along the lines: "Cannot add duplicate entry of type …". Google accordingly.
If the "duplicate entry" is of type "error", you can try adding the following element below httpErrors:
<remove statusCode="404"/>
That is, assuming you have an Error element below the HttpErrors with statusCode 404. (I had once.)
In my case the issue was caused by using windows authentication + firefox + wrong domain login with insufficient permissions.
Details:
My dev machine is using windows domain "domA", the application will run in an environment accepting logins from domain "domA" and "domB". While on the webserver both will work, on my dev machine only my account in "domA" has sufficient permissions to access all files of the application. In IE "domA" is used by default while in FF I get a login dialog where I did login with my account from "domB".
Confusing issue I know, but maybe there is someone else having the same situation. At least it will help me the next time I run into it. :)
Just in case catches someone else out, I had similar error but the issue was I had updated my web.config and there was an extra ">" character where it should be.. so malformed web.config file can cause the same behaviour.

why asp.net Url rewriting throw exception when same folder is exists physicaly?

Im redirect like this:
rewrite url="~/aboutus/" to="~/AboutUs/AboutUsView.aspx"
but "AboutUs" folder physically exists. so IIS throw exception:
Directory Listing -- /WebSite/aboutus/
but this rewritin work good:
rewrite url="~/about/" to="~/AboutUs/AboutUsView.aspx"
"About" folder is not exist physically.
im using Intelligencia.UrlRewriter.dll
plz help me!
Sounds like IIS is intercepting the request before it can get to your URL rewriter. Because the physical folder exists it will try to list the directory contents if enabled, or load the default document (default.aspx, default.htm, etc.)
If IIS can't do either of these things, then it'll throw an error and stop processing the request, it won't ever reach your ISAPI rewriter filter.
Can you change the physical folder names to get around this?
