I'm using the Ubuntu bash shell provided by Windows 10 and I want to see my hardware clock time by using hwclock but I keep getting Errors.
hwclock
root#DESKTOP:/home/blondinl# hwclock
hwclock: Cannot access the Hardware Clock via any known method.
hwclock: Use the --debug option to see the details of our search for an access method.
When I use the --debug option
root#DESKTOP:/home/blondinl# hwclock -- debug
hwclock from util-linux 2.27.1
hwclock: cannot open /dev/rtc: No such file or directory
No usable clock interface found.
hwclock: Cannot access the Hardware Clock via any known method.
I have tried to use timedatectl
root#DESKTOP:/home/blondinl# timedatectl
Failed to create bus connection: No such file or directory
I have searched an answer on the internet but couldn't found any.
Maybe it's because I'm using the linux bash on Windows I don't know.

It seems to be a wsl bug that may yet to be fixed. I am still facing it today.

I wasn't able to open new iterm window due to the message, the photo above. Even though t definitely looks running too many processes,I think mac wasn't running too many processes. I've checked activity monitor but couldn't find any difference between normal situation.
I solved this with rebooting but wanna know what the exact problem and how to check that. If anybody has any idea, please share it with me.
Use
> ulimit -u
to see max user processes or
> ulimit -a
to see all user limits.

If you are using windows 10, there is now a bash shell built in that can be easily set up. Check out this tutorial to do so.
If you are not on windows 10, I would recommend Cygwin (download) as an alternate program to run bash scripts
I think you will manage to get some familiarity with working with a linux console and some of the commands, however there is certain functionality which doesn't quite work.
What I would suggest though is dual booting Linux next to Windows, to immerse yourself properly and get a clear picture of things from the start.

A friend of mine factory reset her computer on Windows 10, and lost an important document, so I'm wondering if there is a way for her to get it back, any help is useful.
I realize that a factory reset sets the computer back to it's original state of when it was first purchased, but I'm just curious if there are any free or cheap options available, besides going to a recover specialist.
Any advice would be nice - thanks!
Download the free version of Piriform Recuva. It is something I have used before for basic file recovery, and I don't know of a simpler GUI tool for Windows. Simply follow the instructions of this tutorial, or search for a simple video tutorial on YouTube if that is insufficient.
To maximize your chances of recovery reduce the amount of writes to the drive- setting it to read-only for example. Avoiding doing anything else while you attempt to recover the files is critical, newer files may silently destroy whatever is left of the older data. If at all possible you should attempt to boot from a drive or disk that doesn't contain the erased data, but if that is not possible/not something you know how to do then you may still be able to recover the data by booting the computer normally.

I'm attempting to download wget because a provisioner I am using can't retrieve certain information without it (naturally this issue doesn't come up at work but at work, I have a Mac, at home, I have a 64bit windows 10 machine). I have tried the wget.exe files from https://eternallybored.org/misc/wget/ and SourceForge but no luck. Are there any current issues with wget on Windows 10, if not does anyone have any ideas what my issues may be?
eternallybored build will crash when you are downloading a large file.
This can be avoided by disabling LFH (Low Fragmentation Heap) by GlobalFlag registry.
GNU Wget is a free network utility to retrieve files from the World Wide Web using HTTP and FTP, the two most widely used Internet protocols.
It works great for me on win 10

I use it on Windows 10 without issue. Don't know which version it is. The digital signature in the properties says March 19, 2015. I have it in a folder on the c drive called ab and I use:
c:\ab\wget --no-check-certificate https://myURL -O c:\ab\Save_Name.txt
and it saves the file as Save_Name.txt

I was trying to install a virtual machine on my Mac, and I followed the directions in an article from Digital Trends. I have since found additional resources, which have made me concerned about a step in the original instructions that said to type this into the Mac terminal:
curl -s https://raw.github.com/xdissent/ievms/master/ievms.sh | bash
I initially trusted this code because I thought Digital Trends was safe, but is this code safe?
You're running whatever the contents of that URL are as your current user.
For certain definitions of safe, sure, this is fine, as it won't influence other users of your machine. I'd still take a look at the code in the URL to see if it's doing something you'd approve of doing yourself.
In your specific case, it appears to be a boring install of Microsoft binaries, so if you trust Microsoft to not do anything stupid/dangerous to your machine (I don't), you're likely fine.
