So l’m kind new to SCCM’s OSD and I’ve been assigned to do an upgrade for Windows 7 workstation to Windows 10 v1703.
I read online that the maximum ADK supported by SCCM 1606 is v1607, lucky I also read some posts online saying that it worked fine with Windows 10 v1706 although Microsoft does not support it.
Now, my questions is our environment has an older ADK version that I don’t wish to remove if that possible. Can I just install the new ADK + upload new images to console + use new USMT Package for user data migration? Or must I upgrade the whole winPE to the new ADK environment? And if so, is there is any easier way then using scripts to update image and adk level ? ( older SCCM versions don’t have the option of reloading boot images)
If anyone can guide me please, I’m supposed to start the upgrade as soon as possible as windows 7 is going to be out of support in 2020.
The old ADK has to be removed then we could install the latest ADK. Otherwise, we would see the following error message.
Manually updating the boot image in the SCCM, we need to copy the latest wim file to the location used in the SCCM and run a script to update it. Refer to the following link to get the detailed steps.

I'm trying to run the planet scale cli and the docs said to install mysql,
After I installed mysql shell 8 and tried to run it, it throws:
api-ms-win-core-path-l1-1-0.dll missing
where does api-ms-win-core-path-l1-1-0.dll come from?
and how do I add it?
Windows 7 64bit, powershell 2.0 , windows .net framework 4
I filed a mySQL bug report and this is what they said:
Thank you for your bug report.
However, this is not our bug.
This is a missing Windows system library. You can read more about that
here:
https://wiki-drivers.com/du-101/?m=src_evp_adwords_du_dll_e&build=ppc&content=ppcdudll&build=ppc&kw=api-ms-win-core-path-l1-1-0.dll&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIl6LTgbjJ-wIVmeFRCh1KvwH_EAAYASAAEgJWwvD_BwE
alternative solution would be to try upgrade to PowerShell 5 and install via scoop or something of that nature
I've yet to try this solution due to my windows 7 laptop's screen messing up causing me to upgrade my laptop.
Thought it would be helpful to follow up with my findings
I am new to db2 10.1, i have used an older version of it before so, i am unfamiliar with the installation.
I searched online how to install it and followed this site http://programmingzen.com/files/db2onmac.pdf
but when i try to run 'db2setup' inside expc i get these errors.(i uploaded it to google drive so it would be easier to download and view externally)
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxdZNdArow5yRkhlMzlIdTFsemc/view?usp=sharing
I noticed that all these errors are from Xcode; i have Xcode installed and updated to the latest version , and yes i have also tried to use 'db2_install', it gave me the same errors but after them it installed normally in '/opt/IBM/db2/V10.1', i also used sudo before each one of them, so when i gave up i searched the internet, but i couldn't find an answer, then i tried to delete it using 'db2_deinstall' but it didn't work at all, so i don't know how to reinstall.
Right now i have 'IBM' folder, but i don't even know how to start it to see if it works or not, and i don't know how to open 'db2 first steps' or where is it.
Thank you in advance.
Edit: i am trying to install db2 express-c and the only version available for mac is 10.1 .
If you are trying DB2-Express-C V10.1 on a Mac, then why not try instead
the "DB2 Developer Community Edition" which is supported on "Mac OS: 10.12 (Sierra) +", a free download. It contains DB2 V11.1.2.2 at today's date.
If you need V10.1 for some reason, check out the IBM express-c forum which also has some troubleshooting questions regarding Mac support.
I have had a Windows 8 build associated with my app, say with version 1.0.4. I also have an active 1.3.4 version which targets Windows 10. I wanted to make the 1.0.4 build unavailable so I removed it. But it still appears in the Windows Store on Windows 8 devices. Then I read that I need to submit an update and change the pricing & availability. But I don't see a way to do that without also removing the 1.3.4 version from the Windows Store. Any ideas?
EDIT: I added an image of the dashboard which shows which packages are installed. The Windows 8 package is still available even though it is not visible in the dashboard.
Based on your description, can I understand that your app has two packages, one version is 1.0.4 that targets Windows 8, another version is 1.3.4 that targets Windows 10, and you just want to make the package version 1.0.4 unavailable, am I right?
I suggest you to remove package version 1.0.4 from the submission and you don’t need to change the pricing & availability, after the update is published(new submission submitted in the store), no new customer on Windows 8 will be able to acquire the app(though customer who already have is can continue to use it). The app will still available for new customer on Windows 10.
More detailed info, please refer to guidance for app package management
In addition, there are just Windows Phone store and Windows Store now, please note it.
I'm attempting to install Java 8 JRE on Window 10, and it's failing. The purpose of this is so that I can install SQLWorkbenchJ on my Windows machine. This is my personal machine, and I have complete access privileges. Please let me know if I can provide any additional information to answer this question (e.g., logs).
I've downloaded Java 8 from Oracle, specifically the offline 64 bit version for windows. When I download it, it places the following icon on my desktop:
When I double click on this icon, the following image pops up:
After I click "Yes" and the popup box disappears, nothing happens. Windows continues operating as if nothing happened. The only trace of activity is in the task manager, which shows the following:
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? I'm at a loss for how to push the installation process forward.
Update: I was able to solve this issue by installing the x86 version (32 bit) instead. I'm not sure why the x64 version doesn't work on Windows 10, but I'd seen this solution subtly referred to elsewhere on the internet as a solution. Would be interesting if someone could figure out why the x64 version itself doesn't work.
We have two concerns here - 1. JRE 8u101 (64-bit) fails to install without an error message and 2. JRE 8u101 (64-bit) fails to install on Windows 10.
The first one seems similar to http://bugs.java.com/view_bug.do?bug_id=8148167 which is a known issue.
However, it would be appropriate to take a look at jusched and JavaDeploy log files to confirm the same.
The second concerns with 64-bit JRE installation in Windows
Microsoft Edge on Windows 10 is not supported a supported browser.
For Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 10, see:
Related bug ID: http://bugs.java.com/view_bug.do?bug_id=8162523
For a solution related to 64-bit installation, suggest you to follow the instructions from the comment in the above bug report.
Hope this helps.
This is known issue https://bugs.openjdk.java.net/browse/JDK-8148167 , this has already fixed in 8u111/8u112, early access builds are available here - https://jdk8.java.net/download.html, you can download and try to install the same. Do let us know your feedback?
I was having this issue as well and the 8u112 worked from this page
Thank you
One of the components in my application is failing on Windows because Windows K/KN systems don't have Media Feature Pack installed. To prevent this I was thinking of adding a check during install time to see if Media Feature Pack is installed on the current system. However, I haven't found enough information about MFP to do so.
For most versions of Windows it's already installed but some Windows 8 and 8.1 installations don't have it. I need a programmatic way to do this.
I would need any one of the info to achieve this:
Regkey based
What are the regkeys that can be used to determine if Media Feature Pack is installed? Does Media Feature Pack (like .NET framework / VC redistribution) set some regkey which can be used to determine this?
Is there any API that can be used to detect Media Feature Pack?
Are there any DLLs that can be used to for detection?
I know mf.dll and mfplat.dll are installed in sys32 folder, but can I rely on these two files for MFP detection?
Found the answer and posting here if helps someone
There is a registry key at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\WindowsFeatures\WindowsMediaVersion

This will help you detect the actual windows flavor:

Got to Control Panel > Programs > Turn Windows Feature On/Off
in my case it's installed. You can also install by marking on it. then hit OK
