I have a code that works perfectly, copying selected text from any windows application pressing CTRL+B.
However, when I change the modifiers that trigger the SendKeys.SendWait("^c") from MOD_CONTROL to MOD_ALT + MOD_SHIFT, the command SendKeys doesn't copy the text from the active window.
So pressing ALT+SHIFT+B still launch the command SendKeys, but the command doesn't copy the selected text to the clipboard.
Is there some incopatibility between the sendkeys command and the modifiers other then MOD_CONTROL?
I have tried registering different hotkeys, and different modifiers for each hotkey: sendkeys works with every hotkey with MOD_CONTROL modifier but doesn't with every hotkey with any other modifiers combination.

At last I managed it to work adding the line:
System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(300)
just before the command SendKeys.SendWait("^c")
It seems that SendKeys have issue with timing and the pause inserted resolve the issue.

I'm working with a Dell Latitude ST2 tablet. It's running Windows 8 Pro on an Intel Atom processor.
I'm trying to do a simultaneous image capture from both the front and rear facing cameras. I'm messing around with the code from here: http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/18511/Webcam-using-DirectShow-NET
I can only get the rear facing camera, and even then the image capture doesn't work. The stream is just fine. (Less concerned about this than I am the dual streams.)
The two image sensors in the tablet are OV8830 and OV2720.
Also, is there a better API or method rather than using DirectShow for what I'm trying to accomplish?

I created a form that has 2 buttons. One button pops a msgbox and the other runs form frmAPI (code is listed below) listed below. If I open the msgbox and leave it open and then run the frmAPI it will list the msgbox and its text and then close it. THis is what I expect it to do. If I open another application and generate a msgbox in that app with my frmAPI still running it will in fact list the other apps msgbox and the text but it does not close the msgbox from the other app. If Irun the frmAPI from the other app and do the same test the results are reversed. So in short it will only close the dialog from within the same app.
I would like to be able to close a dialog from any app based on it being a dialog and having text that will match my criteria. Any help on what I am doing wrong?

You may be running into User Interface Privilege Isolation. That'll block your messages from going to a higher privilege process. See also ChangeWindowsMessageFilter()
I'd suggest trying to send it a WM_COMMAND instead of a WM_CLOSE; WM_COMMAND is generally treated more gently by the system and may get through. Use BN_CLICKED as the high word of WPARAM and IDOK as the low word (assuming it has an OK button), and the handle to the OK button in LPARAM.. Other button messages are here.
How can I lock an application after period of user inactivity?
I have a fat Windows applocation written in VB6. User must log into the application to use it. I need to log the user out after a period of inactivity. There are over 100 separate forms with one Main form that is always open after the user logs in, so I am looking for an application solution not a form level solution.
I am thinking about monitoring keyboard and mouse usage using WIN API.
Are you looking to measure inactivity in/of the application? Or the entire desktop?
If the latter, I’d suggest looking at GetLastInputInfo which you could call from time to time, either from another app, or from a timer in your main window. You can find a VB6 example of it's use here, though you can call it from just about any language you want as it is a Win32 API.
Here is the solution I decided upon. I wanted to document it properly. As this is the approach I had envisioned, it is not my code. Someone smarter than I did awhile ago.

I'm using GetObject with a workbook path to either create a new or grab an existing Excel instance. If it's grabbing an existing user-created instance, the application window is visible; if the workbook path in question is closed, it will open and hide, but not before it flickers on the screen. Application.ScreenUpdating does not help with this.
I don't think I can use the Win32Api call LockWindowUpdate, because I don't know whether I'm getting or creating before the file is open. Is there some other VBA-friendly way (i.e. WinAPI) to freeze the screen long enough to get the object?
EDIT: Just to clarify, because the first answer suggests using the Application object... These are the steps to reproduce this behavior.
1. Open Excel--make sure you're only running one instance--save and close the default workbook. Excel window now visible but "empty"
2. Open Powerpoint or Word, insert a module, add the following code
