the import org.springframework.batch.item.excel.poi.PoiItemReader cannot be resolved. i clearly mentioned required dependencies in my pom file.
do i need to add any other dependency?
No, You don't need other dependencies.
The issue is that spring-batch-excel is not present in remote maven repository. So you need to install it manually in your local maven cache.
To do that:
1. Check out the sources of spring batch extenstion
git clone git://github.com/spring-projects/spring-batch-extensions.git
2. Go into the directory of a spring-batch-excel module
cd spring-batch-extensions
cd spring-batch-excel
3. Compile and test, build all jars
mvn clean package
4. Install the modules jars into your local Maven cache
mvn install
Now spring-batch-excel is present in your local maven cache.
Source: https://github.com/spring-projects/spring-batch-extensions
You need the spring batch extention for excel. refer to link
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework.batch.extensions</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-batch-excel</artifactId>
<version>0.1.0</version>
</dependency>
Above dependency is correct for Excel PoiItemReader.

I have an existing project and i need to add Spring Security and Spring Security Test.
I can't figure out how to add it with IntelliJ.
I know how to do this when creating a new project and I have the PlugIn installed.
Please help me find out how to add it to an existing project
When I add the dependencies manually to the POM.xml, I get the following error

UPDATE - 1/18/2022
when I run
mvnw spring-boot:run
from Terminal on Windows, it works. When i click the DEBUG icon in IntelliJ, i get this exception. How do I fix this? Running from Terminal to debug once is fine but the point of using an IDE diminishes if I need to run the project from Terminal.
To add new dependency:
First visit https://mvnrepository.com/ and search the dependency you want to add. Then copy that dependency.
Now go to IntelliJ and open pom.xml and add your copied dependency here.
In my Spring Boot (2.1.6.RELEASE) project I have added following dependencies:
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-boot-starter-integration</artifactId>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-boot-starter-mail</artifactId>
</dependency>
But still the following is missing spring-integration-mail, should it not be included automatically?
Full pom.xml:

The integration starter only pulls in the spring-integration-core jar; otherwise you would have many unnecessary jars on your classpath, slowing your application startup.
The mail starter does not know anything about spring integration; it is for when you want to use mail without spring integration
You need to add other integration modules manually:
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework.integration</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-integration-mail</artifactId>
</dependency>
The version will be managed for you.
I am working on a spring boot application.
The maven version i use is 3.3.9. In settings.xml i have configured the proxy as well.
The maven build is getting SUCCESS in command prompt. But when i try to import the project to eclipse am getting project build error.
Methods i have tried to resolve the error:
used maven->Update maven project (no improvement)
In eclipse i have changed the location of local m2 repository
as windows->preferences->maven->user settings and pointed it to C:\apache-maven-3.3.9\conf\settings.xml (no improvement)
Tried executing mvn eclipse:eclipse command. But it failed.
used the command in cmd mvn clean install -U

The error log is as follows:
Project build error: Non-resolvable parent POM Failure to transfer org.springframework.boot:spring-boot-starter-parent:pom:2.0.0.RELEASE from http://repo.maven.apache.org/maven2/ was cached in the local repository, resolution will not be reattempted until the update interval of artie has elapsed or updates are forced. Check your internet connection and ensure that you are able to access http://repo.maven.apache.org/maven2/ with your browser. If yes, check if you need to configure a proxy server. If no, you should contact your internet provider.
see documentation ,for how to configure a proxy server for Maven:
Also delete the .m2 local Directory and run mvn clean install again
UPDATE : Right click on the project --> Maven --> Update project.
It worked for me after deleting the .m2 local Directory and then run mvn clean install again.
I have noticed that the windows system user did not have privileges to create the folders .m2 or any other folder in c:\users\user folder. So I elevated the privileges of the system user as admin and it all worked fine.
It works good when the application is running from Eclipse. But the problem is starting after i packaging the app to JAR or WAR and running it.
Getting 404 on every pages.
Here what i have done so far:

So to resolve the issue i have changed my elastic beanstalk from Java to Tomcat. And now it works with WAR.
Using the Java i was not able to run the webapp
For jar packaging, the jsp files should be in src/main/resources/META-INF/resources/.
For war packaging src/main/webapp/ is good.
Also, I guess with war packaging, you are probably not implementing SpringBootServletInitializer with it's method configure(...) in your config main class.
A complete example is here
My spring boot application jar is very big size, it is about 58 MB, how to separate library and modified code ? For testing purpose, I send this jar via email to my client, it is very hard for me. Any solution for my problem ?

If you exclude libraries here, your client has somehow to add them again.
What about using dropbox, amazon S3 ...
