Cannot load the custom visualizer in Visual Studio 2019 - visual-studio

I've created a custom visualizer in Visual Studio 2019 but I'm having trouble activating it on a specific machine (it works on two other machines, so it's not related to the code).
I've placed the visualizer (called DocumentVisualizer.dll) in the MyDocuments\Visual Studio 2019\Visualizer folder and at debug, when checking the object I see the magnifying glass as expected.
But when I click on it, this is the error I see Unable to load the custom visualizer
It mentions that the issue could be related to Microsoft.VisualStudio.DebuggerVisualizers.dll version but I'm not sure of how to check this. (I've installed only Visual Studio 2019 on this machine)
This appears to be a machine-specific problem as I could load the visualizer on a couple of other machines.
Any clues on how to fix that?
I've tried cleaning the output, restarting the machine and reinstalling Visual Studio with no success.

New installation of Visual Studio 2017 - looking at my project "using statements" show up as being unnecessary

Our IT department had to reinstall my work PC.
After receiving it back, I installed Visual Studio 2017. Added the NuGet Package Sources that I needed as well as installed the EPiServer CMS Extenion for Visual Studio.
I restarted the computer.
However when I launch our EPiServer project in Visual Studio, and look at my code, I see that all the using EPiServer; directives show up as being unused as well as are underlined with a red line.
In my code, any reference to code from these using directives is also red underlined.
Before the reinstallation of the operating system I had a similar setup of Visual Studio where these using statements worked.
It appears all I had to do was build the project once right after setting everything up.
After having built the project, now when I browser the various .cs files, the using statements are showing up correctly as being used where relevant.

VS 2017 "Could not load this custom viewer"

I have a problem using VS 2017 15.3.3
I like to show a wpf window in the buildin debugger visualizer, and get the error above.
Things I tried:
on another machine the visualizer shows up with same project
a newly created wpf project also fails
rebooted several times
followed the advice here: Stackoverflow "Show Visualizers Error", but did not get any information from the attached visual studio (no errors during visualizer start)
The visual studio environment was updated from VS 2015, and I had used the debugger visualizer "mole" from Shifflett/Smith in VS2015/VS2017, but deinstalled them now.
Next step may be reinstall of vs 2017 but I like to hear if there are any other things to check beforehand...

Visual Studio crashes when locking computer or starting another instance

I have the problem that Visual Studio 2013 crashes when I lock the computer or start another instance of Visual Studio.
I use Visual Studio 2013 with latest patches applied. I always start Visual Studio as Admin.
This seems to only happen with a certain big solution. This problem did not occur to me with other solutions.
I tried to delete the solution and make a clean checkout from TFS, but Visual Studio still crashes.
I know this is not much information, but do you have any idea how to fix this or how to what else I could check?
Additional Information: This still happens even with Visual Studio 2015 on a fresh Windows 8.1 installation...
Here's the error:
Use the following steps to solve the issue:
Source: http://resharper-support.jetbrains.com/entries/24765142-Visual-Studio-with-ReSharper-is-freezing-and-or-crashing
I would copy the solution with quotation but as you can see, there is a lot of text to edit.
Start Visual Studio using the /log switch. Then check the created log file for warnings and errors:
%APPDATA%\Microsoft\VisualStudio\11.0\ActivityLog.xml
If you use a Web Browser to view the file, it will be nicely formatted, due to the accompanying xsl-sheet.

.csproj file unsupported in Visual Studio 2013

So I'm trying to do what I think is a very simple thing: generate a Windows Phone app with PhoneGap and open it in Visual Studio. On a totally fresh Windows installation (via Bootcamp), I've:
Downloaded Visual Studio Express 2013 for Windows (the very first download button: http://developer.windowsphone.com/en-us/downloadsdk)
Created a PhoneGap Windows Phone app per the Getting Started guide.
However, every time I try to open the csproj file, I keep getting this error:
Unsupported
This version of Visual Studio is unable to open the following projects. The project types may not be installed or this version of Visual Studio may not support them.

- HelloWorld, "C:\BodBot\BodBot-PG\BodBot\platforms\wp8\HelloWorld.csproj"
No changes required
These projects can be opened in Visual Studio 2013, Visual Studio 2012, and Visual Studio 2010 SP1 without changing them.

No matter what I do. It works totally fine on Visual Studio 2012 for Windows Phone. I've tried it on VS 2013 for Desktop, and that doesn't work either. No clue what is happening here, and don't know even where to start to figure out what's wrong. I've Googled extensively to no avail; basically all instances of this error seem to have to do with previous version of VS. Pointing in any direction would be very much appreciated.
Turns out Update 2 wasn't getting installed correctly. I ended up installing Visual Studio and the Update 2 separately and Update 2 got installed successfully. Everything works now.
To build Multi device hybrid (Cordova tooling) apps with Visual Studio, you need to have Visual Studio 2013 Update 2 - Professional, Ultimate, or Premium.

Visual Studio 2012 detect file changes stopped working

My Visual Studio stopped recognizing external file changes.
I checked the respective options being enabled ('Environment/Documents/Detect when file is changed outside the environment' and 'Environment/Documents/Auto-load changes, if saved).
I restarted Visual Studio as well as my machine.
I tested other software that recognized changes, such as Notepad++, which works just fine.
I tested different Visual Studio projects to check if it has something to do with the project being screwed up somehow - same effect in all projects I tested.
What's going on here?
(There are some SO questions that appear to be related judging by the headline: VS2012 not detecting external changes, Visual Studio 2012 stopped applying changes to solution and Visual Studio 2012 not detecting file change, but all are about different issues.).
Happened to me as well this morning. Exiting VS and relaunching/opening the project seems to have it working again. Super strange!
