Is there an easy way to process the body of a POST HTTP request as an InputStream when using PostMapping in a Spring Boot RestController?
It is quite simple to accept file uploads from Multipart HTTP POST requests as MultipartFile instances, but I would like to be able to simply post binary content to an HTTP endpoint and process this as an InputStream.
Is this possible with Spring Boot?
For example with the following Postman POST:

I know two possible ways
Take HttpEntity
#PostMapping

Take whole Request

If you just have an InputStream parameter on your method then you get the request body.

This is with Spring Boot 2.4.1.

How to do java unit test with protobuf for controller?

I have a spring boot rest controller with requestBody & responseBody both protobuf. like below :

Now I want to do a unit test using mockMvc to test the controller, but it failed every time. I believe it is the code below which is wrong to fire an HTTP request with protobuf, any idea how to resolve it?

I assume the ProtobufHttpMessageConverter is missing here. Spring MVC can't read/write any messages without this specific converter.
You can create it as the following:

Next, make sure to add the HTTP Method to your method, as I assume (from reading your test) you want this to be a HTTP POST handler. You can also add the consumes attribute to state that this endpoint also consumes Protobuf.

In addition to this, there is an article on the Spring blog available that covers your usecase and explains how to use Protobuf with Spring MVC.
You need to add Protobuf converter to MockMvc builder

Resolving POST /** request URL to full request URL using micrometer

With the micro-service architecture I have written a generic POST request handler which is consumed by all the micro-services. The post mapping in spring look like this:

Now while I am consuming the metrics for this endpoint using micrometer I am only getting /v1/ as the endpoint in the metrics while I am sending the full URL like /v1/demo/foo from the calling service. I tried lot of the combination but it is not working. I have also added the WebMvcTagsProvider where I am listing to request and resolving the POST api calls.

Still it is resolving to /v1/ URL in the metrics. I tried googling alot but didn't find any solution. Thanks in advance.
The build in Spring Boot RequestMapping based metrics match on the annotations and add those as tags.
This is to avoid a tag explosion. Imagine a #RequestMapping for a path like user/{userId}, you would want to group all those calls together (user/1, user/2, user/3).
You'll want to create your own Timer in your post method that set that url tags, etc there.
If you decide to reuse the same metric name as the built in Spring Boot metric, you'll want to disable that one as well, so you don't double count those requests.

Spring Framework WebFlux Reactive Programming

I am trying to send an object to the endpoint but I do not understand why I can't do it with .get(), why .post() has to be used? What if the endpoint method takes an object and does something with it and returns an object? I may want to send an object to the endpoint which takes the object as an argument. Is there a way to do it? How to pass a customer object to getCustomer() endpoint.

In GET methods, the data is sent in the URL. just like:
http://www.test.com/users/1
In POST methods, The data is stored in the request body of the
HTTP request.
Therefore we should not expect .get() method to have .bodyValue().
Now if you wanna send data using GET method, you should send them in the URL, like below snippet

In Spring Boot - Can you make request mapping that receives the whole message body without any parsing/intervention?

I need to have a method that does not regard/parse the content of request message, just ... pass it along as input parameter to the #PostMapping method.
Is it possible? Because defining parameters like:
#RequestBody byte[] data
or
#RequestBody String text
tell the framework that it suppose to get some xml/json. and I want it to receive plain text + utf-8 encoding.
Some code to clarify:

I think you should inject HttpServletRequest as controller method attribute, then you will have acces to request payload.

If i understand your question correctly you need to load text file directly as input param in spring boot rest call.
You need to modify your code and curl request , please use fllowing code as referance .

One more issue i can see in your curl request your mapping is abc and you are calling
localhost:8080/abc/def/

Short answer: This is not a job for a full blown framework like spring boot. Better use something like spark that can do this with one liner and without any configurations. At least this is the best answer for my humble causes.
Long answer: I could not make spring boot to receive clean body text from a client, not even after many (failed) attempts to tweak the headers / media / consume flag / ... Guess this just (might) not be possible.

How to enable Spring Reactive Web MVC to handle Multipart-file?

I'm trying to use the new reactive web-mvc implementation in a spring boot 2.0 application. I'm trying to define a method which consume multipart file but do not succeed at making it working :( - I always get a 415 error.
On one hand I have a controller containing the following request mapping :

On the other hand I had to add a server on the top of the basic dependencies as it seems netty do not handle multipart files. I so added the spring-boot-starter-tomcatdependency which enabled the MultipartAutoConfiguration to be matched and satisfied on application auto configuration.
When posting something using a curl call :

while debug logs are activated (logging.level.org.springframework.web=DEBUG) I got this exception :
org.springframework.web.server.UnsupportedMediaTypeStatusException: Request failure [status: 415, reason: "Content type 'multipart/form-data;boundary=------------------------58fa43b8f1a26de4' not supported"]
This error is thrown by the RequestBodyArgumentResolver which has the the following supported media types : [*/*, text/xml, application/*+json;charset=UTF-8, application/xml, text/plain;charset=UTF-8, application/x-www-form-urlencoded, application/json;charset=UTF-8] provided by 9 DecoderHttpMessageReader.
Before posting I also took a look at :
Spring MultiPart MediaType Unsupported which seems to not be relevant here as my autoconf report contains the following entry : MultipartAutoConfiguration#multipartResolver matched
set content-type to utf-8 with angularjs $http Adding a header setting Content-Transfer-Encoding: binary didn't changed anything.
My understanding is that Spring web 5.0 uses a new request decoder system as I don't find these classes on a spring 4 spring boot application, and there is not yet any DecoderHttpMessageReader dealing with multipart file
Did I miss something ? Or should I wait one to be implemented ?
