I am having this weird problem, in a certain Laravel project where some files are just deleted or renamed weirdly. I am the only user on the machine, I have other projects too but I haven't seen anything like this happen to any of these other projects.
I've also noticed that the files being deleted or renamed are the same, I have been using git to control revert back to the stable state but now this is becoming nuisance and thus have decided to seek help around here. Any help will be appreciated.

I am building an openwrt firmware for an old mt7620 board for commercial purpose (captive portal)
I am encountering a strange behaviour when I try to save updated config files. I am trying to figure out the reason.
This is an example of what happens :
1 – FIRST TRIAL :
I compiled an old Chaos Calmer 15.01 openwrt version. From the console, I go to the /overlay/upper/etc/config:
Before reboot
I modify or delete the existing files in the [..]/etc/config/ folder
I create a new file for example "test" in [..]/etc/config/
I create a folder "new_folder" with a file inside
After reboot:
changes are not kept or deleted files are back in [..]/etc/config/ folder
the new file for example "test" is still there
the "new_folder" with its file inside are still there
Finally :
if I delete the new files "test" and "new_folder", after the reboot they are effectively deleted
So to sum-up : only pre-existing files in [..]/etc/config/ folder are reverted back at each reboot.
2 – SECOND TRIAL :
I compiled a firmware of the same version without UCI, when I modify the files in /etc/config/, changes made manually are kept after reboot, except 'wireless' which revert to its initial state.
It seems like some process involving UCI at startup use the original files and not the edited ones.
I took a look to the .sh scripts in /etc/init.d, /etc/rc.d, lib/config, lib/functions, lib/preinit... to see what is going on but its still not clear when and where config files are processed (even after looking at topics on the subject)
3 – THIRD TRIAL :
I managed to compile another firmware based on LEDE 17.01 to see if there are benefits. Unfortunately, I still have the same problem concerning the files in the /etc/config which always revert to their default value.
4 - FINALLY TO SUM-UP :
Is there a way to turn this behaviour off, or is it a kind of 'file protection' towards something that could be seen as 'currupted' by the system ?
Note :
I know that theses versions are very old and some people may recommend to upgrade it.
But, In regards to my constraints, I tried to update to openwrt versions >= 18.06. Each time I have kernel panics even by compiling with the custom changes I made that work with the previous versions (DTS file).
So, I am stuck with it for instance, I prefer having one problem at a time.
Sorry for the long post.
Thanks a lot, by advance, If someone have an idea or have already seen such a situation.
Best Regards.

I was working on a static website and decided to change my account as I recently changed my Github username. When I say account, I mean the icon in the bottom left corner of VS Code. In doing so, 10k files were added, and all my extensions disappeared.
The staged files include App Data files that I can't clear.
My Discord is affected. I can't open it as when I do, a message comes up and says:
'update.exe' has been moved or changed. Would you like to delete the shortcut?
Although it's an issue, I essentially have to reinstall it, but the same issue may still arise, which it has as I've tried reinstalling it.
My concern is I feel I may affect other programs by trying to come up with a solution.
I'm posting this question to get help on removing the 10k files that are staged and do not affect program files/app data. When I try to commit these files, I get an error saying,
Git Fatal :pathsepc C\Users.....\getconfig did not match any files
I would think all I need to do is add these files to a gitignore file, but I would need steps if so.
I hope I've explained my problem clearly to get a solution.
Please help.

I have a problem with Gitlens extension. Firstly, Gitlens or Git History extension is working fine on any other project except the this Laravel project. My problem is, can`t see the file history or line history in this project.
On the other hand, there is no problem in the git log (Git History Extension) as seen in screenshot;
But I can't compare any files with their any version (every commit seems like in the ss). I have no idea what the problem is about.
Lastly, I don't think the problem is about extension settings because other projects do not have this problem. Is there a any chance to fix this issue without resetting git history?
I am answering after 3 months, maybe it works for someone. As I mentioned in the title, surely there is no problem about extension settings for this specific project. The problem is just about git files. Maybe, I damaged some git files while moving the project on my desktop :)
So, there is no chance to fix this issue without resetting git history or starting fresh with git, if you`re having the same problem.
Do not play with git files, it`s no joke!
I've got a similar issue. My problem is in using symbolic links for folders.
I have this folder symlink for my repos.
C:\>dir
Directory of C:\
27.09.2018 21:07 <JUNCTION> repos [C:\Users\Qwerty\repos]
(GitLens v11)
The top editor is opened via C:\repos
The bottom editor via C:\Users\Qwerty\repos
You can see that some git features still work (yellow), but others don't.
However, this is very strange, because in my other repos, I have never observed such issues.
Also notice below that it is still possible to invoke the same action via a git lens popup and then it is possible to use the Prev Next Revision buttons.
Anyway, after more testing, I actually observe the same thing in my other repos. I assume that something must have changed between versions as I only observe these issues for last maybe 2-3 months. I even submitted a ticket that GitLens stopped working in v12.0.0 and later versions https://github.com/gitkraken/vscode-gitlens/issues/1979
The buttons completely disappeared and even the commit information
v11
v12
And Now actually, after having reopened my repo via original path and after updating GitLens back to v12.0.6 I see that it is working properly!
Bottom editor is opened via C:\repos symlink.
I'm programming in xcode (actually Phone Gap in conjunction with xcode) with git. I'm having a strange issue. When I create two identical branches and try to check out back and fourth between them with out making any changes git is telling me that I need to commit because a change has been made (this same thing is also resulting in merge conflicts). It says the changed file is:
platforms/ios/Butterfli.xcodeproj/project.xcworkspace/xcuserdata/benpearce.xcuserdatad/UserInterfaceState.xcuserstate
Can anyone explain what's going on and how to deal with it.
Yes, .xcworkspaces are simply files that Xcode uses to describe the workspace or projects.
IMHO, There's no need to check these files in at all, unless you share settings with other folks in your projects (and in your case, I suppose other machines that have a user named "benpearce").
In fact, you can safely add them to your .gitignore file.

A couple of people have asked a similar question, the last one a year ago, with no solution (Here and here), so I thought I'd try it again.
I've created snapshots in Xcode 5.1 on a few occasions before making significant code changes. When I go to restore them, I've seen a couple of different behaviors:
There's one file that changed. Xcode shows me the before and after diffs, and I say OK, and click on Restore. The result, nothing's changed.
Same as one, except in this case there are multiple files that have changed. It shows me one, and it looks good. So I click Restore. It doesn't show me any of the other files diffs that have changed, and it doesn't prompt me to be sure I don't want to look at them. After the fact, I've surmised that I need to click on each changed files in order to accept the changes. But still, there's only one Restore button, which dismissed the window. In any case, none of the files have been restored to their former state. If I try to restore from that same snapshot again (naively thinking I could try to retrieve the other changed files), it tells me that the current state and the snapshot are the same.
If I export the changes to another directory, then I do get the reverted files. It's when I do a File->Restore Snapshot where I get no results.
I've taken to manually creating zip archives of the source so I can recover the files manually.
I don't have any Source Control in use in Xcode so far. It seems I should do that if only to do periodic commits on my own.
Do other people use snapshots successfully? Has anyone else experienced this behavior in Xcode 5?
Thanks much for your help. I've yet to get any response on the Apple Developers Forum on the topic :(
