Are these usr/bin warnings in msys a problem? - windows

Following the suggestion of #liberforce, I am running Mingw-w64 64bit shell.
I got less warnings than with msys2 shell.
Here are the warnings I got.
warning: could not get file information for clang32/
warning: could not get file information for clang32/bin/
warning: could not get file information for clang32/etc/
warning: could not get file information for clang32/etc/config.site

warning: terminate MSYS2 without returning to shell and check for updates again
warning: for example close your terminal window instead of calling exit
Normally when I follow the last instruction, when I run the shell again, it just opens the terminal window, quickly shows an error, I can't read quick enough, and quickly closes.
So, I reinstall, and don't use pacman -Syu, to update, but install each module with pacman -S.
However, at this point, I want to know, will the above warnings prove problematic going forward?

Golang oci8: error adding symbols: File in wrong format

I am trying to connect to an Oracle database in Go using this package. I have both server and instantclient installed for both Oracle 11.2 and 12.1, and I'm following the instructions regarding the oci8.pc file. My operating system is Windows.
However, when I run "go get github.com/mattn/go-oci8" (or attempt to install a program that uses the package after having gotten the package's source code directly) I get this error:
# github.com/mattn/go-oci8
C:/oraclexe/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/server/oci/lib/MSVC/oci.lib: error adding symbols: File in wrong format
collect2.exe: error: ld returned 1 exit status
Does anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it?
Looks to be the same issue I had trying to install oci8. Are you using TDM_GCC? The problem for me was that TDM_GCC has a compiler / linker bug that prevents from compiling certain files. I used ming64 instead and it worked. You can see my detailed posts regarding that here:

Strange errors building the data-default package

I'm getting a number of strange error messages while trying to cabal install data-default. The same basic phenomenon happens for that package even in a fresh sandbox. I can install other packages with no problem.
The error messages are of the following form, but occur for each of the 4 data-default-instances- packages:

Using the strategy at https://github.com/haskell/cabal/issues/2502 it is possible to fix this problem, which ultimately has to do with the Windows limit on overall path length.
Using stack is another solution, probably one to try first, because it internally uses a folder that is likely to be close enough to the root for the path to work.

FreeBSD make error File 5.19 supports only version 12 magic files. /usr/share/misc/magic.mgc is version 8

I'm having trouble reinstalling ProFTPD on a FreeBSD 10.1 setup. The server is newly upgraded from 10.0 to 10.1. When I start the make install clean process, these warnings first shows on screen.
===> proftpd-1.3.5_4 depends on shared library: libpcre.so
/usr/share/misc/magic, 93: Warning: Printf format `l' is not valid for type `lelong' in description `, %ld pages'

file: File 5.19 supports only version 12 magic files. `/usr/share/misc/magic.mgc' is version 8
[: =: unexpected operator

And after i while, the make process stops with this error:

You may wish to ``make deinstall'' and install this port again
by ``make reinstall'' to upgrade it properly.
If you really wish to overwrite the old port of pcre
without deleting it first, set the variable "FORCE_PKG_REGISTER"
in your environment or the "make install" command line.

Seems that the file /usr/share/misc/magic.mgc is of a wrong version?
This might happens when I was upgrading from 10.0-RELEASE-p12 to 10.1-RELESE-p1?
If i run make install clean of the ProFTP port, and disable support for pcre, the process and install is successful.
But I believe that something is still broken?
My programming skills are limited, and also this level of error.
Please let me know if you have any ideas,
Thanks,
First of all, proftpd 1.3.5 is available as a binary package, it's much simpler to install it that way (pkg install proftpd).
Second - at first it looked like a port bug; as Etan said, there is a shell syntax error (something like '[ x == y ]' instead of '[ x = y ]'); those are common, and ports contain patches to fix those. However, there is a binary package, and packages are built from ports ("make package"), so port obviously does work on package build machines. So it's probably something specific to your environment.
If you really want to build from ports, try this: first, reinstall pcre. For some reason it had to be rebuilt, but failed to install, because it's already installed. So, "cd /usr/ports/*/pcre && make clean all deinstall reinstall". That should get rid of the second error. Then go back to "../*/proftpd" and see how far it goes.
But really, I'd try packages first. They have nothing in common with old pkg_add system, and are really nice.
freebsd-update diff for FreeBSD-SA-14:28.file seems wrong, and it breaks file(1).
Therefore simply pkg install file will be a workaround.

install x11 in mac 10.10.1

I am trying to run a program in this system.
There is a makefile in the package. And I also need X11 to run it, so I have installed xQuarts, and add all the (potentially) useful path to the PATH.
when I type "$PATH" in the terminal,
it shows:
-bash:
/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/3.4/bin:/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/3.4/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/opt/X11/bin: No such file or directory
I used "make all" in my source code package, it result in the following error:
./Xlibext.c:2:10: fatal error: 'X11/Xlib.h' file not found
#include "X11/Xlib.h"
^
1 error generated.
I have reviewed some other posts, but I couldn't find a solution yet. Can anyone help?

Trying to build dia on Windows with MinGW

I'm trying to build dia on my windows system with the MinGW toolkit.
What I did:
Downloaded GTK all-in-one package and unpackged it to C:\gtk and did the setup described in the readme.
Downloaded intltool-0.50.2 and unpacked it into the C:\gtk dir
Added gtk's bin directory to PATH environment variable
Checked out dia into C:\dia\
Opened a command line with admin privileges
Opened a bash in /c/dia/ and typed autogen.sh
The Script is running until it tries to execute the macro IT_PROG_INTLTOOL(...)
./configure: line 15572: syntax error near unexpected token `0.35.0'
./configure: line 15572: `IT_PROG_INTLTOOL(0.35.0)'
When I go to configure.ac and comment the line (I know I shouldn't do so, just for test purposes) IT_PROG_INTLTOOL([0.35.0]) the next macro error comes up regarding PKG_CHECK_MODULES.
./configure: line 15577: syntax error near unexpected token `GMODULE,'
./configure: line 15577: `PKG_CHECK_MODULES(GMODULE, gmodule-2.0 gobject-2.0)'
As far as I can see, all these required libs (intltool, gmodule, pango, freetype, pkg-config, ...) are installed and can be found. But why do these macros not work?
It looks like the configure script was regenerated and there were some errors while it was generated.
You could try touch(1)'ing (however this is done on Windows...) files to avoid that the buildsystem tries to regenerate configure
Make sure your autotools are all installed and that autoreconf does not spit out any warnings
There are binary packages for dia on Windows available http://dia-installer.de/index.html.en
