In my Login Page I want to show error message when user enter wrong email and password without refreshing page. I am trying to send data from view to controller using ajax. But in the controller, user.Email and user.Password are null when I debug, but the Ajax call works. I want to know what is wrong there?
<div class="login-container">
<div class="row">
<div class=" col-md-12 col-sm-12 col-12 login-form-1">
<h2>Login</h2>
<p>Log into your account</p>
#using (Html.BeginForm("Login", "Account", FormMethod.Post))
{
<div id="alertmessage">
<div class=" alert alert-danger">
<span>
Email or Password is incorrect
</span>
</div>
</div>
#Html.AntiForgeryToken()
<div class="form-group col-md-12 col-sm-12 col-12">
<input id="Email" type="text" class="form-control" placeholder="Your Email *" value="" name="Emaillog" />
</div>
<div class="form-group col-md-12 col-sm-12 col-12 ">
<input id="Password" type="password" class="form-control" placeholder="Your Password *" value="" name="Passwordlog" />
</div>
<div class="form-group col-md-12 col-sm-12 col-12">
<input type="submit" class="btnSubmit" value="Login now" id="logbut" />
</div>
<div class="form-group col-md-6 col-sm-6 col-6">
Forget Password?
</div>
}
</div>
</div>
</div>
$(document).ready(function () {
$("#alertmessage").hide()
$("#logbut").click(function (e) {
e.preventDefault();
// collect the user data
var data = {};
data.Email = $("#Email").val();
data.Password = $("#Password").val();
var token = $('input[name="__RequestVerificationToken"]').val();
$.ajax({
url: "/Account/Login",
type: "POST",
dataType: 'json',
contentType: 'application/x-www-form-urlencoded; charset=UTF-8',
data: {
model: data,
__RequestVerificationToken: token,
returnUrl: "Account/Login" // you can modify the returnUrl value here
},
success: function (result) {
if (result == "Fail") {
$("#alertmessage").show()
}
else {
window.location.href = "/Account/MainAccount";
}
},
})
})
})
Controller
[HttpPost]
[ValidateAntiForgeryToken]
public ActionResult Login(User user)
{
string result = "Fail";
User appUser = _context.Users.FirstOrDefault(u => u.Email == user.Email);
if (appUser != null)
{
if (appUser.Password ==user.Password)
{
Session["ActiveUser"] = appUser;
return RedirectToAction("MainAccount");
}
}
return Json(result, JsonRequestBehavior.AllowGet);
}
How can I solve this problem?
Instead of using User Model in MVC action, use parameters in
Login(string email, string password)
And in Ajax pass
data:
{
email : email,
password : password,
__RequestVerificationToken: token
}
Can you please try this.
Note: you model class property same as inside form control name
Like example
UserName
Password
In you example
you are sending a request using ajax but your button type is submit when you click on button two requests come in server one is ajax and the second one is form.
Please see this example.
<div class="login-container">
<div class="row">
<div class=" col-md-12 col-sm-12 col-12 login-form-1">
<h2>Login </h2>
<p>Log into your account</p>
#using (Html.BeginForm("Login", "Account", FormMethod.Post,new {id="LoginFrom" }))
{
<div id="alertmessage">
<div class=" alert alert-danger">
<span>
Email or Password is incorrect
</span>
</div>
</div>
#Html.AntiForgeryToken()
<div class="form-group col-md-12 col-sm-12 col-12">
<input id="Email" type="text" class="form-control" placeholder="Your Email *" value="" name="Email" />
</div>
<div class="form-group col-md-12 col-sm-12 col-12 ">
<input id="Password" type="password" class="form-control" placeholder="Your Password *" value="" name="Password" />
</div>
<div class="form-group col-md-12 col-sm-12 col-12">
<input type="button" class="btnSubmit" value="Login now" id="logbut" />
</div>
<div class="form-group col-md-6 col-sm-6 col-6">
Forget Password?
</div>
}
</div>
</div>
</div>
Jquery Code
$(document).ready(function () {
$("#alertmessage").hide()
$("#logbut").click(function (e) {
$.ajax({
url: '#Url.Action("Login","Account")',
type: "POST",
data: $("#LoginFrom").serialize(),
success: function (result) {
if (result == "Fail") {
$("#alertmessage").show()
}
else {
window.location.href = "/Account/MainAccount";
}
},
})
})
})

I have been bulding small system using api my api url is: 'https://www.domstol.no/api/episerver/v3/beramming' and my website url is: https://konkurs.app/ and I am using bellow code to get access of data.
My Form:
<form id="mainForm" action="https://www.domstol.no/api/episerver/v3/beramming">
<div class="row align-middle align-items-center">
<div class="col-lg-4 col-md-4 mb-1">

</fieldset>
</div>
<div class="col-lg-4 col-md-4 mb-1">
<fieldset>
<div class="input-group">
<label class="d-block w-100"> Start To

</fieldset>
</div>
</div>
</form>
And my ajax function is here:
$("#mainForm").submit(function( event ) {
event.preventDefault();
event.preventDefault(); // avoid to execute the actual submit of the form.
var form = $(this);
var url = form.attr('action');
var From = $("input[name='From']",this).val();
var To = $("input[name='To']",this).val();
var Court = $("input[name='Court']",this).val();
var CaseNumber = $("input[name='CaseNumber']",this).val();
var CaseAbout = $("input[name='CaseAbout']",this).val();
$.ajax({
type: 'POST',
url: url,
contentType: "application/json;charset=utf-8",
dataType:"json",
beforeSend: setHeader,
data: JSON.stringify({
"To":"2022-10-03",
"From":"2022-10-03",
"Court":"",
"CaseAbout":"konkurs",
"CaseNumber":""
}),
success: data => {
console.log(data)
},
error: (xhr, textStatus, error) => {
console.log(error)
},
});
function setHeader(xhr) {
xhr.setRequestHeader("Access-Control-Allow-Origin", "*");
xhr.setRequestHeader("Access-Control-Allow-Methods", "GET,POST");
xhr.setRequestHeader("Access-Control-Allow-Headers", "Content-type, X-Auth-Token, Origin, Authorization");
}
});
Bye the way i am using laravel 8, and yes dont ask me to install cors middleware i have already tried with it. If i try with postman i got result but from my application i got: "No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource in my application"
I'm using Fortify to manage users authentication and I have a modal form for the login. My problem is every time I submit the form I can't see any errors because the page refreshes and closes the modal with the login form.
I would like to know if this validation is possible in the frontend without refreshing the page so the modal won't close. I've tried with Ajax but I can't find the right way to manage this or even in which controller I'm supposed to handle the if statement for the response.
I'll be really thankful if anyone could help me.
Here's my modal:
<!-- LOGIN Modal -->
<form action="{{ route('login') }}" method="post">
#csrf
<div class="modal fade" id="login" tabindex="-1" aria-labelledby="exampleModalLabel" aria-hidden="true">
<div class="modal-dialog modal-dialog-centered" >
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="modal-header">
<h5>Login</h5>
<button type="button" class="btn-close" data-bs-dismiss="modal" aria-label="Close"></button>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
<div class="alert alert-danger print-error-msg" style="display:none">
<ul></ul>
</div>
<div class="mb-3 row">
<div class="col-sm"><br>
<input type="text" class="form-control" name="email" value="Email">
</div>
</div>
<div class="mb-3 row">
<div class="col-sm">
<input type="password" class="form-control" id="inputPassword" name="password" value="Password">
</div>
</div>
<div class="d-grid gap-2">
<button type="submit" id="btn-login" class="btn btn-login">Continuar</button>
</div>
</div>
<div class="modal-footer">
<label><u>Recuperar password</u></label>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</form>
And here's the Ajax:
$(document).ready(function() {
$("#btn-login").click(function(e) {
e.preventDefault();
var _token = $("input[name='_token']").val();
var email = $("input[name='email']").val();
var password = $("input[name='password']").val();
$.ajax({
url: config.routes.zone,
type: 'POST',
data: { _token: _token, email: email, password:password },
success: function(data) {
if ($.isEmptyObject(data.error)) {
window.location.href = {{ route('login') }};
} else {
printErrorMsg(data.error);
}
}
});
});
function printErrorMsg(msg) {
$(".print-error-msg").find("ul").html('');
$(".print-error-msg").css('display', 'block');
$.each(msg, function(key, value) {
$(".print-error-msg").find("ul").append('<li>' + value + '</li>');
});
}
});
I use the same form to view details of a record that is in the database and make form submission. But an error occurs when I view a log and then register other data. In this case the new registration is registered three times in the database. And the reason this happens is that the form data is cached when I view or register a record. All the solutions I searched on the internet didn't work for me.
This is my form
<div id="form" style="display: none;" class="col-md-12">
<div class="row">

</form>
</div>
This is the function to view the details of a record on the form
$(document).on('click', '.edit', function(){
var id_scr = $(this).attr('id_scr');
$('#div_table').hide();
$.ajax({
url:"/scr/"+id_scr+"/edit",
cache: false,
dataType:"json",
success:function(html){
$('#action_button').text("Edit Data");
$('#assunto').val(html.data.assunto);
$('#prov').val(html.data.prov);
$('#corre').val(html.data.corre);
$('#status').val(html.data.descricao);
$('#cod_cadastro').val(html.data.cod_cadastro);
$('#hidden_id').val(html.data.id);
$('#hidden_id_docs').val(html.data.id_docs);
$('#id_docs').val(html.data.id_docs);
$('.title').text("Details...");
$('.span_doc').text("Alter Doc");
$('#action').val("Edit");
$('#form').show();
}
})
});
To clear the form data after viewing a record, I created thisTo clear the form data after viewing a record, I created this function:
$(document).on('click', '#close_form', function(){
$('#sample_form')[0].reset();
$('#form').hide();
$('#div_table').show();
});
And finally, this is the function for registering a new record
$('#sample_form').on('submit', function(event){
event.preventDefault();
$('.progress').show();
if($('#action').val() == 'Add')
{
$.ajax({
url:"{{ route('scr.store') }}",
method:"POST",
data: new FormData(this),
contentType: false,
cache:false,
processData: false,
dataType:"json",
success:function(data)
{
alert('SUCCESSFULLY SAVED');
$('#sample_form')[0].reset();
$('#formModal').modal('hide');
location.reload(); //**This is the only way I found to clear the form after submitting the data**
}
})
}
})
You could try this method :
function submitForm() {
// Get the first form with the name
// Usually the form name is not repeated
// but duplicate names are possible in HTML
// Therefore to work around the issue, enforce the correct index
var frm = document.getElementsByName('contact-form')[0];
frm.submit(); // Submit the form
frm.reset(); // Reset all form data
return false; // Prevent page refresh
}
Or you could just call this method in your submit method
**Hi I have Login and Register Page in one view.Login controller does not have view. i want to show error message when user enter wrong email and password. but it return blank page with {"Fail"} with url Account/Login

Your ajax call is not being called because your submit button is submitting the form and doing a redirect.
Add a event.preventDefault() button click event so that it won't do a normal synchronous POST.
// add e parameter, this is for the event
$("#logbut").on("click",function (e) {
// this is to avoid the form being submitted, and proceed with your script call
e.preventDefault();
// ...
})
I want to insert some data into database using Bootstrap Modal. But the problem is Save button doesn't work properly on Bootstrap Modal as I couldn't insert the data into database through form. If anyone could help me to find it please!?
Here is the form part in blade:
<div id="myAlert" class="modal hide">
<div class="modal-header">
<button data-dismiss="modal" class="close" type="button">×</button>
<h3>Create User</h3>
</div>
<div class="modal-body">
<div class="row-fluid">
<div class="span12">
<div class="widget-box">
<div class="widget-content nopadding">
<form action="#" method="get" id="userForm" class="form-horizontal">
<div class="control-group">
<label class="control-label">Name :</label>
<div class="controls">
<input class="span11" placeholder="Name" type="text">
</div>
</div>
<div class="control-group">
<label class="control-label">Email :</label>
<div class="controls">
<input class="span11" placeholder="Email" type="email">
</div>
</div>
<div class="control-group">
<label class="control-label">Password</label>
<div class="controls">
<input class="span11" placeholder="Enter Password" type="password">
</div>
</div>
<div class="control-group">
<label class="control-label">Confirm Password</label>
<div class="controls">
<input class="span11" placeholder="Confirm Password" type="password">
</div>
</div>
</form>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div class="modal-footer"><a data-dismiss="modal" class="btn btn-primary" href="#">Confirm</a> <a
data-dismiss="modal" class="btn" href="#">Cancel</a>
</div>
</div>
Here is the Ajax Part :
$('#userForm').on('success.form.fv', function(e) {
e.preventDefault();
$.ajax({
method: 'POST',
action:"{{ url('/register') }}",
data: $form.serialize()
});
});
You need the submit button. Try to put this code inside your form.
<button type="submit" class="btn btn-primary">Register</button>
Problem with your current Confirm button is: 1) he don't have type=submit; 2) he is outside the form.
first of all add type="submit" to your button
secondly check your network tab in the dev tools in your browser and check the request does it go to /register or not ?
if the request is hitting /register what's the parameters ?
Change form method get to post
I answer here for ajax call
Laravel ajax internal servor 500 (internal server-error)
Your input type elements are missing name attribute
<input class="span11" placeholder="Name" name="name" type="text">
<input class="span11" placeholder="Email" name="email" type="email">
<input class="span11" placeholder="Enter Password" name="password" type="password">
<input class="span11" placeholder="Confirm Password" name ="confirm_password" type="password">
You then retrieve the content using Request or Input by passing the value of the name attribute
At first change your form method from get to post. Then add save button with id btnSave.
Ajax :
$("#btnSave").click(function(e){
e.preventDefault()
var $form = $("#userForm");
$.ajax({
type: $form.attr('method'),
url: $form.attr('action'),
data: $form.serialize(),
success: function (data, status) {
if(data.error){
return;
}
alert(data.success); // THis is success message
$('#myModal').modal('hide'); // Your modal Id
},
error: function (result) {
}
});
});
In controller :
public function store(Request $request)
{ try {
$inputs = $request->all();
ModelName::create($inputs);
$data = ['success' =>'Data saved successfully'];
} catch (\Exception $e) {
$data = ['error' =>$e->getMessage()];
}
return Response::json($data);
}
Form part in blade:
<div class="modal-footer"><a data-dismiss="modal" class="btn btn-primary" id="btnAdd">Confirm</a></div>
Ajax Part
$('#btnAdd').click(function () {
$.ajax({
url: '{{url('/register')}}',
type: 'POST',
data: $('#userForm').serialize(),
success: function (object) {
},
error: function (result) {
}
});
});
