adtfdat how to record data with this file format - adtf

I am playing with ADTF 3 assist to learn how to create plugins. I have read all tutorials from digitalwerk and I have now a good background on how to manage cmake, VS2017 C++, configuration editor, services and so on. I have also compiled some of the conan repository applications and plugins. Now I am in need to record an adtfdat file format to gather CAN and Video data and play it in Configuration Editor. How can I do it?
Thanks in advance

You need for gathering CAN and Video Data the additional Device-Toolbox. This toolbox provides the specific stream type.
They also provide additional examples for gathering video samples and handling CAN, CAN FD and FlexRay streams.

is there a way to tag video files independent of any tool

We are in the 21st century and still there is no good way to tag photos and videos? There is always a dependency on some tool... Is there no way to make the file autonomous with respect to its tags?
Video files, for example, are not friendly to tags. some video formats do not allow tagging at all. Some tools keep the meta data in their own external representation and when you copy the original file to some new destination, the meta data of the file in the destination is lost. Also this metadata may only be seen by this proprietary tool and is not seen by other tools (e.g. tagging by Adobe products are not visible/searchable in Windows Explorer)
Is there a universal way to tag any file including video files so that
searching for files having a certain tag is possible in any tool
when a file is copied, the tags are transferred with it
when the file is edited in any tool and re-saved, the tags are not lost...?
There are no universal ways at this point, if there ever will be one.
Probaby the closest we got is file tagging provided by popular OSes based on a certain file systems' feature called 'forking'. By this means Windows and Mac provide an ability to easily add meta data (including keywords) to any file on the file system, without changing the file's content. One serious drawback of this feature is that it does not cross file-system's boundary, i.e. if you simply upload a file to the web, or copy it to a different type filesystem - the metadata will be lost. There are ways to copy such metadata but that requires consideration and use of appropriate tools.

Add and get CHM file version

I need to add version info and retrieve it from the CHM file to make it possible to make an alert message to a user about a new CHM-file version available and downloaded.
It means, that I should compare versions of CHM on different machines (Server and clients).
The other way is date and time checking, but I should remember about time zones, so this is complicated, because also one should remember about different file systems, according to Windows SDK help about SetFileTime function and FILETIME structure.
If someone knows the trick - please share.
.chm files don't have version information. You will need to find some alternative way to mark the file version.
One way that occurs to me is to include a topic in the help file that contains the version. I imagine that this topic would be hidden, that is not linked by any other topic, not in the table of contents, etc.
All that remains is for your application to be able to read that topic from the help file. I'm sure that can be done with a .chm file parser, if you can obtain one. Perhaps more easily you can get the platform browser to read the topic for you. You can use IHTMLDocument2 to read a URI like this:
mk:#MSITStore:C:\somedir\somefile.chm::/html/SomeTopic.html

Is there a common solution to generate msoffice, libreoffice and pdf documents on the fly?

I would like to generate office documents (msoffice, oo) and pdf on the fly from one source document. Currently i think about opendocument as templates files and libreoffice-headless as converter.
Does anybody have experience on this topic and is there a (commercial?) ready to use solution?
A commercial solution is Docmosis which has a downloadable and cloud-service solutions using MSWord/OpenOffice documents as templates and providing template-population features, load balancing, doc/docx/odt/pdf/rtf/html production and quite a few other features. One of it's key features is to generate point-in-time output in multiple formats (from the same template and data) as you mentioned. It has at least one Ruby example to show the population features. Please note I work for the company that created Docmosis.
Another option is the open source JOD Reports.
I hope that helps.

Windows Phone: Targets, Branding

i have an app that will be shipped by different providers. So i need to exchange the backgrounds etc, ss there is probably some kind of unique identifier for each app i also need different projects for that. What's the best practice to do this on windows phone ? Do i have to write own "Wrapper"-Projects ? (In iOS there is a concept called targets where i just link relevant branding files, appname, identifiers etc)
Thanks for your help !
In XAML, you can use Styling and Templating to dynamically change the whole look and feel of your application.
The same principal applies to Windows Phone apps as well. Then all you got to do is, maintain different style xaml files and apply them to create unique builds, or once the application launches.
Update: As willmel suggests below, which I forgot to mention, localization techniques mentioned here are a great way to maintain application strings.
Update 2: You can package your 'themes' into separate ZIP files, as demonstrated here and use post build events and VS commands to create different packages. You can always call msbuild from the command line as well and customize your build process even further. You can use different manifests this way as well.
If you have provider information which is language specified, you can download a sample project here:
http://www.pocketpc.ch/windows-phone-7-entwicklung/158405-textbox-string-integer.html#post1381376
or another here, or in VB
Once, you know the provider, you can select your resource file.
That article from Tim Heuer can show how you can work with less work for different situations like used in XCode iOS. Additional to strings you can use image URL as well.

How to split PowerPoint presentation file into files with one slide in each file

I need to split PowerPoint presentation file (pptx and, if possible, ppt) into a set of original format files (pptx or ppt) – each containing one slide from the original. I need to do this programmatically on Linux Ubuntu server using free tools or external free API. When a file gets uploaded to a directory program will be called from my main program (written in PHP) and do the split.
I am looking for suggestions about language or set of tools to use. I looked at several options listed below. It will take some time to try all of them but if anyone could exclude or add to the list and/or provide code examples it would help.
Thanks!
(1) Apache POI project (POI-XSLF)
(2) OpenOffice unoconv command line utility
(3) C# (with compiler Mono for Linux). This may include indirect option of deleting slides with powerPoint.Slides(x).Delete
(4) JODConverter (Java OpenDocument Converter)
(5) PyODConverter (Python OpenDocument Converter)
(6) Google Documents API
(7) Aspose.Slides for .NET is out because of cost
When I had the same needs I ended up shelling and using "UNOCONV" to convert the files to PDF. And then used "PDFTK" to split the file by pages. Once that is done you should be able to take the extra step and convert the new split PDF files back to PPTX using one more UNOCONV.
While it seems rather complicated, PPTX seems to be "that one ooxml file no one wants to touch". Libraries seem to be few and incomplete mostly.
