Hello I'm using laravel with rennokki's eloquent-query-cache I could cache queries and it works perfectly but i need my cache gone when user logs out.
I tried model::flushQueryCache(); in the logout controller but it doesn't work.
thank you.
This doesn't work like that. How many models have your application? You should import the trait and write the model::flushQueryCache(); for each model you have on logout event.
If you want it more simple, execute Artisan::call('cache:clear') on logout. This will clear everything, but for everyone.
hmrneves thanks for your answer,
public function logout() {
admins::flushQueryCache();
invitations::flushQueryCache();
customers::flushQueryCache();
rides::flushQueryCache();
users::flushQueryCache();
}
I tried this and imported the trait, it doesn't work. and I need to keep cache for other users

When testing my application and trying to create a new user then on form submission I am getting error 419.
If I use a helper to log in using Auth::loginUsingId(x) for an existing user then dd(auth()->user()) is successful but when I redirect to another page the user is no longer logged in. eg running the following code, you end up getting redirected to /login:
Route::get('/logInAs/{id}', function ($id) {
Auth::loginUsingId((int) $id);
dd(\auth()->user());
return redirect()->route('dashboard');
});
I would share more code but I'm not sure what would be useful at this point?
I've probably spent about seven hours trying to fix this so far. It's driving me up the wall!
The app works fine on other environments, such as staging. I've even gone so far as to re-download it from github as a fresh install (in case I was messing about in vendor directory and changed something), but that hasn't fixed it.
I get the same issue on Chrome, using different signed in users on Chrome, using incognito mode on Chrome, using Firefox, and using valet share and accessing my local version on another device, like a phone, so I don't think it is to do with browser caching.
When other devs working on the project run it locally on their machines I haven't had reports of this issue, so it seems to just me my local environment.
I've variously tried changing CACHE_DRIVER and SESSION_DRIVER in .env to no joy, but I'm beginning to lose the will to live so don't really know if I'm doing the right thing there - please help if you can!!
Edit to add more detail:
Middleware on the dashboard route:
Route::middleware(['auth:sanctum', 'verified'])->group(function(){
Route::get('/dashboard', DashboardController::class)->name('dashboard');
});
If I remove the middleware then I just get an error that user is null on dashboard.blade.php, ie the user is still not staying logged in.
A custom middleware:
class VerifyUserIsMerchant
{
public function handle(Request $request, Closure $next)
{
if ($request->user()->isMerchant()) {
return $next($request);
}
throw new AccessDeniedHttpException('You must be a merchant to access this page');
}
}
If I dd($request->user()) in this middleware it returns null.
The issue got fixed with the help of Laracasts. The full answer is here.
In short, I needed to remove the http:// protocol from SESSION_DOMAIN in .env and set it to match APP_URL.
This was the correct answer for this issue. It was deleted by a moderator. Moderator, before you delete this answer as well please can you explain why?
It provides the full answer to the issue raised in the question. I did not find this answer to this issue anywhere else (hence why it took me several days of debug to fix).
If I can know why it was deleted, I can then understand how to avoid making answers in the future that also would be deleted. Thank you.
I've been using your advice and View::sharing all of my important data to all views. However, there is one issue I have encountered.
This code:
if(!Auth::guest()){
$user=Auth::user()->id;
}
else $user=0;
$temp=DB::select('query');
View::share('cartnumber', count($temp));
View::share('cartitems', $temp);
doesn't work when put in AppServiceProvider. Or better, it always sets $user=0, even if I am logged in. I thought it is because AppServiceProvider's boot function executes before the site checks if someone is logged in.
I then tried to use a BaseController with a construct function but that doesn't work either. The only solution that seems to work correctly is putting the code in every single Controller for every view! That actually works, which kind of confirms my theory.
But is there anywhere I can put this code without having to copy/paste it in every single Controller? Thanks in advance!
You'd likely want to put this code later in the request life cycle to guarantee an auth user because as others have mentioned middleware/session code has not occured during this part of the framework booting up. You could use a service class to call in all your controllers to avoid the copy pasting. Or If you'd like to achieve this using code in your service provider you could use a View Composer instead of a share this allows you to define a callback/or class that will be called right before the view is returned
view()->composer(['/uri-that-needs-data'], function ($view) {
if (Auth::check()) {
$cart = DB::query(...)->get();
$view->with('cartitems', $cart);
}
});
Check out https://laravel.com/docs/5.7/views#view-composers for more details.
Auth::user() will be empty until the session middleware has run.
The reason you can't access the user inside your service provider is because that code is run during the "bootstrapping" phase of the application lifecycle, when it's doing things like loading filesystem or cache drivers, long before the request is sent through response handlers (including middleware).
Once the application has been bootstrapped and all service providers
have been registered, the Request will be handed off to the router
for dispatching. The router will dispatch the request to a route or
controller, as well as run any route specific middleware.
Source: https://laravel.com/docs/5.7/lifecycle
If you don't want to copy/paste that code everywhere, then one place to put it is in custom route middleware. You can list it after the auth middleware to guarantee a logged-in user.
Edit: View composers are another really good option, as suggested by #surgiie. The reason these can be set up inside a service provider (unlike your example) is because the view composer registers a callback, but doesn't execute it until a much later stage in the application lifecycle.
My project is using three different services and now I never can get sessions values, I've tried the laravel site tutorial and fallowing link question :
Laravel - Session returns null
But none of them worked!
In the first, i used this library:
use Session;
In a controller class :
$result = SocketHelper::sendRequest($req);
Session::put('uuid', $result->uuid);
Session::save();
Session::put('userId', $result->userID);
return Redirect::route('login_step_two');
In an other method :
$uuid = Session::get('uuid');
$userId = Session::get('userId');
But these are null! does I have to use cookie?
I recently upgrade to laravel 5.4
Please help me! It's made me confused!
Thanks.
Try saving Session explicitly like this, give it a try it worked for me, hope same for you.
Session::put('test_session', 'test message');
Session::save();
And retrieve it like this
echo Session::get('test_session');
And forget it like this:
Session::forget('test_session');
Session::save();
I understood the null result was becouse I was posting the value of $request to an other template and it was changed it the way :))) !
so easy to know !
Have you properly upgraded to laravel 5.4?

Symfony Compatibility
Laravel's session handlers no longer implements Symfony's SessionInterface. Implementing this interface required us to implement extraneous features that were not needed by the framework. Instead, a new Illuminate\Contracts\Session\Session interface has been defined and may be used instead. The following code changes should also be applied:
All calls to the ->set() method should be changed to ->put(). Typically, Laravel applications would never call the set method since it has never been documented within the Laravel documentation. However, it is included here out of caution.
All calls to the ->getToken() method should be changed to ->token().
All calls to the $request->setSession() method should be changed to setLaravelSession().
Do you still have the rights to write session files in php session directory ?
Check the path returned by session_save_path() and check if your php user has the rights to write in it, check also if there is files in the directory and what are their creation date.
i have a Laravel 5.4 application where i do all Authentication based logic through PHP and then redirect the user to a catchAll route when they are authenticated, and let VueRouter take it from there...
I'd like to also use Entrust because my app will have several types of users and some elements (like an Edit User button) will only be visible to some user Roles.
I might also want to implement specific permissions, like some Admins can edit user Permissions, while others do not.
The issue is, alright i'm in Javascript territory now, so how do i know what my current Auth user is? Setting a global JS variable for Auth::user doesn't seem like a good idea to me.
Perhaps i would instead pass just an ID, but how exactly without making it globally visible as a window variable?
I think you may create an auth/check API call, like this:
protected function check()
{
if(Auth::guard('api')->check()) {
return Auth::guard('api')->user();
}
return ['success' => false];;
}
And then get current user with this call.
i'm a rookie in laravel.
I have a page in admin profile (/Profile /admin). But if someone put
http:// ... / Profile/admin
. Happen a jump directly to the admin page without login.
I tried putting:
Route::filter ('/Profile/admin',function ()
{
if (Auth::guest ()) return Redirect::guest ('login');
});
but i dosen't work.
Thanks.
You can run filters on your routes to basically check to see if someone is logged in or not. There is probably a bit you need to do to make sure all is secure.
However, suggested reading:
http://laravel.com/docs/routing#route-filters
http://laravel.com/docs/security
Hope it helps.
