Cannot modify or delete labels from TFS Project in Visual Studio - visual-studio

I have been trying to modify or delete labels from a branch that uses TFVC (Team Foundation Version Control) for source control and is part of a Azure DevOps project.
It seems that it allows me to create, modify or delete labels that were created with my user, but I cannot do that if the creator was another member.
This is error that I'm getting:
I have already set those permissions through TF Command-Line but isn't working. I requested my PM to make member of the Project Administrators group in the ADO Project, but that didn't help either.
There are the permissions that the ADO group currently has:
I should be working but I don't know why it keeps showing me that error.
Any help or guidance woulde be appreciate.
Thank you.
Edit -> 2020-05-19
I checked the individuals permissions from my user as #Levi Lu-MSFT told me, I tried changing it but I can't due to inheritance from another group that I'm member of.
At least, we could finally found the problem but I don't know how to avoid overwriting and proceed.

You can check if your permission settings is overrode for the TFVC repo.
Go the Projecet Settings-->Repositories-->Click the TFVC repo-->Search for your user account-->Check if the permissions are set to Allow

Shared Workspace(TFS) in Visual Studio 2017 with using a Virtual Machine

Im a trainie and learning C# at the moment and have basic knowledge about how TFS and workspaces work.
Im using VS2017 in a VM which has access to TFS.
Problem
when i go in to VS2017 Source code control i can see the shared user workspace name. And when i try to use dev cmd or normal command prompt and type the tf workspaces, it does not show any workspace available and gives me the error "There is no corresponding workspace found on this computer".
Is there anyway to see it in CMD?
Reason
the reason i need to test this function is that, We have a Deploy .bat/.cmd file which calls the TFS for new update, do a Realase version and then put it to a given fix directoy.
Im sorry if i cant provide more details about the problem. Company Policy.
I could try to answer any further questions.
Thanks for the replies.
Unless you provide a filter such as owner, computer or workspace name, Team Foundation only displays information about the workspaces that you have created.
Command to get workspaces on current VM:
tf workspaces /owner:* /computer:* /server:teamserver
Workspace Commands
Note: To use the workspace command you must have the Read permission set to Allow.
Word of caution: Pulling down a release version from a bat file is normally a bad approach and can cause problems. I would recommend taking the opposite approach. Instead of running a bat file to trigger a build/deploy
have TFS trigger the deployment and workspace update by some action or manual action in order for it to control your process. You can always use the bat file for deployment steps just have TFS setup and call it for you.

Team Foundation Server 2013 : Workspace Change from Local to Server

We have got an implementation of TFS 2013 and the Visual Studio is configured to work with TFS 2013. Until recently when the developers are working on separate project everything went on smoothly.
Now when multiple developers are working on a single project, there is a problem of Multiple Check outs for the same file. The fact is Visual Studio is configured to work with Local Workspaces and hence the Multiple Checkouts. I tried to change the workspace from Local to Server by following the instructions from this post.
However, the developers now face an error (TF14098: Access Denied: User username needs PendChange, Lock permission(s) for $/myproject/file.aspx) when trying to checkout.
Itreid searching for this error on the internet but could not resolve this nor could I find any resolution for this.
Help is very much awaited and appreciated on this.
You are having trouble with permissions. Check if any the group you are the member is denied for PendingChange and lock or its directly denied for you. Note in TFS permissions, Deny always takes precedence. You must make sure your users and all the groups your users belong to have the allow permissions of PendingChange and lock in the project.
You can use the command Tf perm to check what are the security permissions for this project . Navigate to the project location and enter it. This will basically tell you list of all users/groups with their permission. Then change the security in web access.

TFS expired user

As usual I extensively searched for a solution before asking here, I'm really stuck.
I'm currently working on a customer TFS server and I have no administration rights whatsoever. Me and a colleague were using the same user account, which I know is a bad practice but again I had no choice here.
Today we found out that the account is expired and the customer is saying that it will not be reactivated. Instead they gave us a new account.
The problem is that in our local workspaces we had some uncommited changes. I'm trying to find a way to reassing the local workspace to a different user but every path I tried leads to a dead end.
One thing I tried was to access the current workspace and set it to "Public" so another user can work on it, but I can't access the current workspace as I am offline and the user is expired.
If I change TFS credentials and try to Get Latest Version or anything else I don't see the old workspace but only the workspace(s) of the new user, which has no "Use" access to my local workspace.
I also read that a manual merge of the changes (using KDiff or Winmerge) is discouraged as TFS doesn't see edits done outside VS so it wouldn't know the files have been modified. I personally noted this behaviour when I tried to change some nodes in .csproj files with Notepad++ and TFS didn't give me the file in the pending changes.
Anyone knows the proper way to work with a new user without losing the local changes?
Thanks.
1)Create a branch for the latest change set from the server
2) Check out the files to your workspace
3) Overwrite the files in worspace
4) Now the branch contains your changes
5) Merge the branch which contains your chnages with the latest.
You have three options:
If you are using TFS 2012+ and VS 2012+ you can create a new workspace as the new user and make it a 'local' workspace rather than a server workspace. Then just drop the changes in a VS will detect them.
If you are using an old version of TFS and/or VS you can use the 'go online' option (2010 only)
If you are using a really old version you may need to checkout the entire workspace before dropping the changes back in.
Update: In order to achieve a merge of the changes you could create a branch from the last/latest changeset that you 'got' from the server. Then just overwrite you files... You now have a branch with just your changes and you can then user the merge tool to stitch it back together.
note: Also note that you should check in code frequently (at least daily) to avoid this issue in the first place.

How To Permit more than one developer to Edit the same code file in TFS?

I'm new in TFS 2010 and config a source control. we want to work in a single code file in our solution (ReportViewer.aspx) but unfortunately when one of we check out the source code file other team member's can not be accessed to same source code and is locked.
in addition to that mentioned, All data binding of our reports distinguish in ReportViewer.aspx Handler.
this problem may be cause in other way, that any team member check out the Solution File
(e.g. adding a reference), other team member can't be accessed to locked File.
As Edward mentioned, you will need multiple check-outs enabled so that multiple developers can work on a single file. They will then need to merge their changes during the check-in process.
That should also resolve your issue with the Solution File getting checked out and preventing other users from making their own additions to the solution.

Oracle/TOAD/Team Coding: Can't select a TFS Namespace when attempting to connect to TFS through TOAD

We are currently attempting to evaluate whether or not we want to use TOAD's Team Coding feature as it would seamlessly allow us to use TFS as a repository for our database objects. We currently have the newest version of TOAD (It is a TRIAL VERSION) sitting on a VM somewhere. The Team Coding feature is installed, and I can browse my TFS projects. What I can't do, however, is connect to TFS through the Logon in TOAD because it won't allow me to click 'OK' when I am attempting to select a namespace.
It was my understanding that the trial had been fixed to allow for this to happen. I couldn't find anything on their website, so I was curious if anyone knew the answer as to why I can't do this.
This only applies to Toad for Oracle.
You should be able to Log in to TFS with the Trial Version. If you can browse TFS Projects in Toad, you should be already logged in to TFS correctly.
The most likely reason that the button is disabled, is that you are attempting to logon to a remote workspace. I am assuming you can see your local WorkSpaces (Namespaces ?) in the Logon Window. Does the word (Remote) appear in parentheses next to the workspace name. If this is the case, then you are selecting a remote workspace. This workspace was set up for a different machine.
You will need to select or set up a workspace that was created for this machine. The quickest way to test this is to select 'New' from the workspace selection and create a new workspace mapped to a local folder (you can always delete later). Then you should be able to log in to TFS.
Hope this helps

We do not typically monitor postings on StackOverflow, so if you might want hop on over to the Toad Yahoo Groups with any follow up questions
