How to fix an error when seeding a table in laravel? - laravel

I've made the following seed to fill in a table
<?php
use Illuminate\Database\Seeder;
use TCG\Voyager\Models\Menu;
use TCG\Voyager\Models\MenuItem;
class AddChatMenuSeeder extends Seeder
{
/**
* Run the database seeds.
*
* #return void
*/
public function run()
{
$menu = Menu::where('name', 'admin')->firstOrFail();
$client_menu = Menu::where('name', 'menu')->firstOrFail();
// Add a tab of our chat
$user = MenuItem::firstOrNew([
'menu_id' => $client_menu->id,
'title' => __('Chat'),
'url' => '/chat',
'route' => null,
]);
if (!$user->exists) {
$user->fill([
'target' => '_self',
'icon_class' => null,
'color' => '#000000',
'parent_id' => null,
'order' => 1,
])->save();
}
}
}
But an error occured when seeding saying this:
I've tried to run this but it didn't help.
apt install php7.2-cli
How to correct the error?
P.S. I've tried to google this error but I didn't find anything.

The problem solved. I misspelled the first "p" letter in the command.

Why doesn't this seeder class code work in production?

I have this seeder class that works/runs in my development setup:
class OwnerSeeder extends Seeder
{
/**
* Run the database seeds.
*
* #return void
*/
public function run()
{
if(config('owner.owner_first_name')) {
$user = User::firstOrCreate(
['email' => config('owner.owner_email')], [
'first_name' => config('owner.owner_first_name'),
'last_name' => config('owner.owner_last_name'),
'mobile_phone_number' => config('owner.owner_mobile_phone_number'),
'password' => bcrypt(config('owner.owner_password')),
'email_verified_at' => now(),
'identity_verified_at' => now(),
]
);
}
$user->assignRole('owner')
->givePermissionTo(Permission::all());
}
}
But when I run it in production, I get the error 'Undefined variable $user'. What can I do to resolve this?
What I can see there is that your config is different in production and your local: the owner.owner_first_name key doesn't seem to exist in production, which means that the code within the if statement will never be executed and will jump straight to the $user variable, which of course won't be set (that happens only if the if gets executed.
Take a review on your config and start from there.
Good luck!

Laravel Email validation rules fail only on live server. Possible causes?

I run a customer order input through a simple form validation.
<?php
namespace App\Http\Requests;
use Illuminate\Foundation\Http\FormRequest;
class CreateOrderWebstoreRequest extends FormRequest
{
/**
* Determine if the user is authorized to make this request.
*
* #return bool
*/
public function authorize()
{
return true;
}
/**
* Get the validation rules that apply to the request.
*
* #return array
*/
public function rules()
{
// Use additional Address valudation rules if Order is not picked up
// dd('debugging halt',request());
$address_rules = [];
if (! request()->is_pickup) {
$address_rules = [
'street' => 'required|min:3|max:100',
'house_number' => 'required|numeric|max:100000',
'house_number_suffix' => 'nullable|max:10',
'postal_code' => 'required|max:10',
'town' => 'required|min:3|max:50',
'country' => 'required|min:2|max:2',
'region' => 'nullable|min:3|max:50',
'owner' => 'nullable|min:3|max:25',
];
}
return array_merge([
'first_name' => 'required|min:3|max:50',
'middle_name' => 'nullable|min:1|max:15',
'last_name' => 'required|min:3|max:50',
'company_name' => 'nullable|min:3|max:50',
'email_address' => 'required|email:rfc,dns|max:50',
'telephone_number' => 'nullable|min:10|max:25',
'description' => 'nullable|min:5|max:250',
], $address_rules);
}
public function messages()
{
return [
];
}
}
The weird thing this has been working without customer having errors for months. But in de last week or so we suddenly got multiple customers complaining that the validation of their email failed (the first 'rule' that triggers the 'email' response from validation.php
The problem is that testing this on a local host we can't reproduce this, only on the live server.
The host is a shared host, dedicated for Laravel apps, currently running Laravel 6.18.15 and PHP 7.4.16. Local is running running Laravel 6.18.10 and PHP 7.4.2 We had some problems before where the host failed to update PHP, but that doesn't seem to be the case here (if even possible)
The problem is that I don't really know how to fix this or even circumvent it. Changing the email validation to
'email' => 'required|regex:/(.+)#(.+)\.(.+)/i'
is giving me an 'IDN Conversion Failed' error.

Class 'Seeder' not found

I've created migrations and migrated them to the database. Now ready to create seeders, but php artisan db:seed gives this error Class 'Seeder' not found.
How do I create a seeder class and where is it stored?
I'm following this tutorial https://scotch.io/tutorials/a-guide-to-using-eloquent-orm-in-laravel and am at the point where we 'Seeding a Database with Relationships'.
Here is my DatabaseSeeder.php
// app/database/seeds/DatabaseSeeder.php
<?php
use App\Bear;
use App\Tree;
use App\Fish;
use App\Picnic;
use Illuminate\Database\Seeder;
class DatabaseSeeder extends Seeder
{
/**
* Run the database seeds.
*
* #return void
*/
public function run()
{
Eloquent::unguard();
// call our class and run our seeds
$this->call('BearAppSeeder');
$this->command->info('Bear app seeds finished.'); // show information in the command line after everything is run
}
}
// our own seeder class
// usually this would be its own file
class BearAppSeeder extends Seeder
{
public function run()
{
// clear our database ------------------------------------------
DB::table('bears')->delete();
DB::table('fish')->delete();
DB::table('picnics')->delete();
DB::table('trees')->delete();
DB::table('bears_picnics')->delete();
// seed our bears table -----------------------
// we'll create three different bears
// bear 1 is named Lawly. She is extremely dangerous. Especially when hungry.
$bearLawly = Bear::create(array(
'name' => 'Lawly',
'type' => 'Grizzly',
'danger_level' => 8
));
// bear 2 is named Cerms. He has a loud growl but is pretty much harmless.
$bearCerms = Bear::create(array(
'name' => 'Cerms',
'type' => 'Black',
'danger_level' => 4
));
// bear 3 is named Adobot. He is a polar bear. He drinks vodka.
$bearAdobot = Bear::create(array(
'name' => 'Adobot',
'type' => 'Polar',
'danger_level' => 3
));
$this->command->info('The bears are alive!');
// seed our fish table ------------------------
// our fish wont have names... because theyre going to be eaten
// we will use the variables we used to create the bears to get their id
Fish::create(array(
'weight' => 5,
'bear_id' => $bearLawly->id
));
Fish::create(array(
'weight' => 12,
'bear_id' => $bearCerms->id
));
Fish::create(array(
'weight' => 4,
'bear_id' => $bearAdobot->id
));
$this->command->info('They are eating fish!');
// seed our trees table ---------------------
Tree::create(array(
'type' => 'Redwood',
'age' => 500,
'bear_id' => $bearLawly->id
));
Tree::create(array(
'type' => 'Oak',
'age' => 400,
'bear_id' => $bearLawly->id
));
$this->command->info('Climb bears! Be free!');
// seed our picnics table ---------------------
// we will create one picnic and apply all bears to this one picnic
$picnicYellowstone = Picnic::create(array(
'name' => 'Yellowstone',
'taste_level' => 6
));
$picnicGrandCanyon = Picnic::create(array(
'name' => 'Grand Canyon',
'taste_level' => 5
));
// link our bears to picnics ---------------------
// for our purposes we'll just add all bears to both picnics for our many to many relationship
$bearLawly->picnics()->attach($picnicYellowstone->id);
$bearLawly->picnics()->attach($picnicGrandCanyon->id);
$bearCerms->picnics()->attach($picnicYellowstone->id);
$bearCerms->picnics()->attach($picnicGrandCanyon->id);
$bearAdobot->picnics()->attach($picnicYellowstone->id);
$bearAdobot->picnics()->attach($picnicGrandCanyon->id);
$this->command->info('They are terrorizing picnics!');
}
}
After I got the error I tried to add a model called Seeder.php and added the following:
// app/models/seeder.php
<?php
class Seeder extends Seeder
{
protected $fillable = [];
protected $table = 'bear';
}
I've tried all the answers found on here, also composer dump-autoload but no joy.
You need to make sure to import the Illuminate Seeder class which your class extends
use App\Bear;
use App\Tree;
use App\Fish;
use App\Picnic;
use Illuminate\Database\Seeder;
class DatabaseSeeder extends Seeder
{
// Rest of code
At the top of your class

Laravel Error: Object of class Torann\GeoIP\Location could not be converted to string

I am getting error on send Location Data To Database Using Laravel GeoIP::getLocation('2405:204:970a:d9b3:10a3:5280:9064:3f31'),

public function userLogout()

Auth Route :
//User Auth Route Function
Auth::routes();
This is happending because GeoIP::getLocation('2405:204:970a:d9b3:10a3:5280:9064:3f31') returns an instance of Torann\GeoIP\Location and you are trying to save it as a String.
Checking the documentation of this object it has this shape:
\Torann\GeoIP\Location {
#attributes:array [
'ip' => '232.223.11.11',
'iso_code' => 'US',
'country' => 'United States',
'city' => 'New Haven',
'state' => 'CT',
'state_name' => 'Connecticut',
'postal_code' => '06510',
'lat' => 41.28,
'lon' => -72.88,
'timezone' => 'America/New_York',
'continent' => 'NA',
'currency' => 'USD',
'default' => false,
]
}
You have to choose a way to represent this location as a String, a possible way can be to save the latitude and the longitude separately.
If you need to use only one column at the DB, you can check some GeoHashing implementations skthon/geogash.
You Might be trying to use getLocation method from wrong instance.
1.) Try as below way :
"use Torann\GeoIP\GeoIPFacade as GeoIP"
$location = GeoIP::getLocation();
2.) Or try as Geoip package documentation suggest here (http://lyften.com/projects/laravel-geoip/doc/methods.html)
from this instance \Torann\GeoIP\GeoIP and then use geoip()->getLocation('27.974.399.65');
This seems to be an issue in the current_location field and how it is typed in your database. From what I read, I guess your field is defined a string, and when trying to save your record to the database, it fails since the data you're trying to save is an Location object.
I would recommend changing your current_location column in your database to make it a json type.
Then you'd be able to insert your data as:
$user->update([
'last_signin' => Carbon::now()->toDateTimeString(),
'ip_address' => $request->getClientIp(),
'browser_login' => $agent->browser(),
'browser_version' => $agent->version($browser),
'device_login' => $agent->platform(),
'device_version' => $agent->version($platform),
'current_location' => json_encode(GeoIP::getLocation('2405:204:970a:d9b3:10a3:5280:9064:3f31')->toArray()),
'language' => $agent->languages(),
'root' => $agent->robot(),
'https' => $request->server('HTTP_USER_AGENT'),
]);

Laravel Validation unique/exists with different database connection

In the documentation, I saw you could set a connection for the unique rule which is great. However, the exists doesn't seem to follow the same logic. Take this for example:
$rules = [
'username' => 'required|max:40|unique:user',
'name' => 'sometimes|required',
'email' => 'required|email|max:255|unique:int.user',
'password' => 'sometimes|required|confirmed|min:6',
'password_current' => 'sometimes|required'
];
The unique rule works GREAT in this instance. It uses my database connection called 'int' and calls the user table. HOWEVER, when the rules are reversed like so:
$rules['email'] = 'required|email|max:255|exists:int.user';
I got this error:
SQLSTATE[42S02]: Base table or view not found: 1146 Table 'int.user'
doesn't exist (SQL: select count(*) as aggregate from int.user where
email = haleybuggs6#gmail.com)
It's trying to call an int.user table instead of using the int database connection.
Is there a reason exists doesn't act the same way as unique? Thanks.
instead of using connection name you can try with straight Database name which is defined in "int" connection. faced similar problem and these way worked for me. like
$rules['email'] = 'required|email|max:255|exists:DB_Name.user';
You can use
'email' => 'exists:mysql2.users|required'
Where mysql2 is second database settings array in the database.php file
Try it.
$rules = [
'username' => 'required|max:40|unique:connection_name.user',
'name' => 'sometimes|required',
'email' => 'required|email|max:255|unique:connection_name.user',
'password' => 'sometimes|required|confirmed|min:6',
'password_current' => 'sometimes|required'
];
Ultimately for Laravel 5.6.* you need to look at an existing instance of the model you are trying to validate, or specify ...
{db_connection_name}.{schema_name}.{table_name}
... to ensure that you are looking at the proper table.
Validation Example
validate it...
<?php
// for instance...
// maybe auth user is in a different db
// = so you cannot validate with your default db connection
$default_user = Auth::user();
// pass the instance in order to allow Validator to qualify the proper connection/name
\App\Validation\User::validate($_POST, $default_user);
User Validation class
<?php
namespace App\Validation;
class User extends Validator
{
/**
* #param \Illuminate\Database\Eloquent\Model|string $mixed
* #param string $default
* #return string
*/
public static function table($mixed,$default='default_connection.app_schema.users_table')
{
if($mixed instanceof \Illuminate\Database\Eloquent\Model){
$table = $mixed->getConnectionName().'.'.$mixed->getTable();
} else {
if (! empty($mixed)) {
$table = $mixed;
} else {
$table = $default;
}
}
return $table;
}
/**
* validation to create a new user
*
* #param array $data
* #param \App\User|string $mixed
* #return array
* #throws \Illuminate\Validation\ValidationException
*/
public static function validate(array $data, $mixed='default_connection.app_schema.users_table'){
return Validator::validate($data,[
'username' => 'required|max:40|unique:'.self::table($mixed),
'name' => 'sometimes|required',
'email' => 'required|email|max:255|unique:'.self::table($mixed),
'password' => 'sometimes|required|confirmed|min:6',
'password_current' => 'sometimes|required'
]);
}
}
$default_connection = 'db_name';
$rules = [
'username' => 'required|max:40|unique:{$default_connection}.user',
'name' => 'sometimes|required',
'email' => 'required|email|max:255|unique:int.user',
'password' => 'sometimes|required|confirmed|min:6',
'password_current' => 'sometimes|required'
];
