I am trying to make a jquery ajax call but I am unable to do do this can anyone help me out of this?
<form action="" method="post" name="contact-me" id="contact-me">
<div class="form-field">
<label>Name: </label>
<input name="name" type="text" placeholder="Type your name" required>
</div>
<div class="form-field">
<label>Email: </label>
<input name="email" type="email" placeholder="Type a valid email" required>
</div>
<div class="form-field">
<label>Name: </label>
<textarea name="comment" placeholder="Type your comment" required></textarea>
</div>
<input type="hidden" name="action" value="send_form" style="display: none; visibility: hidden; opacity: 0;">
<button id="backup_button" type="button">Send message!</button>
My jquery code
jQuery(document).ready(function($) {
$('#backup_button').on('click', function(e) {
var data = {
'action': 'my_action',
'whatever': 1234
};
// since 2.8 ajaxurl is always defined in the admin header and points to admin-ajax.php
jQuery.post(ajaxurl, data, function(response) {
alert('Got this from the server: ' + response);
});
});
});
Here Is my PHP code
add_action( 'wp_ajax_my_action', 'my_action' );
function my_action() {
die('ddd');
global $wpdb; // this is how you get access to the database
$whatever = intval( $_POST['whatever'] );
$whatever += 10;
echo $whatever;
wp_die(); // this is required to terminate immediately and return a proper response
}
What is your response? Do you get contact with your action?
Try to remove your "die('ddd');" and before your wp_die() you should either echo or return something.

I am using laravel and ajax to update records from table. Currently, the records are successfully being updated but somehow a refresh is triggered, making the ajax feature useless. i need a way to just post the form to update my database record without refreshing the page.
The following is my code.
View File Ajax
$(document).on("click", "#primaryButton", function(e) {
e.preventDefault(); // Prevent Default form Submission
$.ajax({
type: "post",
url: "{{ route('event-qr-post') }}",
data: $("#message").serialize(),
success: function(store) {
location.href = store;
console.log("success!");
console.log(location.href);
console.log($("#message").serialize());
},
error: function() {
console.log("fail");
}
}).done(function(store) {
console.log("itsdone");
});
// e.preventDefault();
return false;
});

// unset($ins['_token']);
// dd($ins);

Your page is being refreshed because of the location.href = store; that you passed after the ajax request receives a success response.
location.href redirects the webpage to the specified URL.
So change your Ajax code to this:
$(document).on("click", "#primaryButton", function(e) {
e.preventDefault(); // Prevent Default form Submission
$.ajax({
type: "post",
url: "{{ route('event-qr-post') }}",
data: $("#message").serialize(),
success: function(store) {
// location.href = store;
console.log("success!");
// console.log(location.href);
console.log($("#message").serialize());
},
error: function() {
console.log("fail");
}
}).done(function(store) {
console.log("itsdone");
});
// e.preventDefault();
return false;
});
when normal request performed , it saves data without any error but through ajax it returned error: [object HTMLDivElement].
but when I comment the create function in controller , request is performed successfully.
csrf token added in meta tag
data can be saved through normal request but not with the ajax
Route is properly configured
ass far as i understand , error is generating while performing create function in the controller.
Controller
public function store(Request $request)
{
$data = $request->all();
Contact::create($data);
return response()->json(['success'=>'Message Sent Successfully']);
}

Most of your <input> elements don't have name attributes. So this won't include them:
new FormData(contactForm)
The file input works because it has a name:
<input type="file" name="attachment[]" class="form-control border-0 w-auto" multiple="multiple">
^----- here ------^
Add names to the rest of the inputs that you want included in the FormData object.
Like David said most of your <input> elements dont have name attributes and thats why the FormData method dont include them, you have two work arounds here:
Get all your data into an array using the id of each element and pass this array to your ajax e.g:
let data = {
name : $('#name').val(),
email: $('#email').val(),
.....
};
add the name attribute to each input.
Hope it helps
I am using ajax but it behaves different. I just want code that I should

This while contain two operation insertion and fetching the data from that db.

I am trying to get a dynamic script for nested comments to work.
My first problem is that I don't know how I can do endless nesting. For now I planned to do 3 layers, cause I don't know how to make it work dynamicly.
The second problem is that when i submit the form, the values of the models is not submitted to the JS-script. The values are just undefined.
I guess my approach is just wrong - The ng-model elements are not bound inside of the ng-repeat, also the values of all forms would be bound to the same element... Maybe someone has some tips. If it is important, my backend runs with Laravel 4. Here is my code
var commentsApp = angular.module('commentsApp', []);
function CommentsCtrl($scope, $http, $compile) {
var url_segments = window.location.host.split('.');
var section = url_segments[0];
$http.get('/api/' + section + window.location.pathname + '/comments').success(function (comments) {
$scope.comments = comments;
});
$scope.toggleForm = function (id) {
var container = document.getElementById(id);

var elem = $compile(html)($scope);
angular.element(container).append(elem);
}
$scope.addComment = function () {
var comment = {
