I am getting a null pointer exception on jdbcTemplate object in this MyMain.java class while mocking the jdbcTemplate.update() method. I have used #Mock for this in the MyMainTest.java class. Here are my code snippets:

For this purpose, you can write a test for your controller layer with #WebMvcTest as this will create a Spring Test Context for you that contains all #ControllerAdvice.
As your service is throwing this exception, you can mock the service bean with #MockBean and use Mockito to instruct your bean to throw the expected exception.
As I don't know how your controller looks like, the following is a basic example:

The method getStructuresByDocumentId expects a Pageable object as its second argument. Changing the annotation #SpringBootTest to

you used "myService" in your setupDocumentWithStructures whereas your #MockBean is myServiceImpl.......I think you meant to use myServiceImpl in setupDocumentWithStructures

I want to integration test a Spring Boot 1.5.4 service that uses an #EventListener. My problem is: when the test is run, the events are correctly published, but they are not consumed.
My ultimate purpose is to use a #TransactionEventListener, but for simplicity I start with an #EventListener.

For the record, the solution was: keep the event consumer method in another bean than the event producer method. That is, extract method consume(MyEvent) from class MyService into a new #Service class MyConsumer.

I register the ExceptionController and a mock StatusController in the Spring MVC infrastructure.
In the test method I setup an expectation to throw an exception from the StatusController.
The exception is being thrown, but the ExceptionController isn't dealing with it.
I want to be able to test that the ExceptionController gets exceptions and returns an appropriate response.
Any thoughts on why this doesn't work and how I should do this kind of test?

Since you are using stand alone setup test you need to provide exception handler manually.
