settings.getSettings() callback is not invoked on connector save - microsoft-teams

I have a connector configuration page set up to create a sample connector. It looks like I can successfully save the connector, but I'm unable to retrieve the generated webhook URL. Here's a sample of the code:

Yet, I don't see the URL printed to the screen. It seems like getSettingsHandler() is not being invoked as expected. I thought maybe the issue was that the config screen closes immediately after calling event.notifySuccess(), before the callback is invoked. But all of the examples I've looked at use this pattern, including an official Teams project here. Why isn't this callback being invoked?

How to get query sys_id of current.sys_id Service Portal (ServiceNow)

I have a question regarding a small issue that I'm having. I've created a widget that will live on the Service Portal to allow an admin to Accept or Reject requests.
The data for the widget is pulling from the Approvals (approval_approver) table. Under my GlideRecord, I have a query that checks for the state as requested. (Ex. addQuery('state', 'requested'))
To narrow down the search, I tried entering addQuery('sys_id', current.sys_id). When I use this query, my script breaks and I get an error on the Service Portal end.
Here's a sample of the GlideRecord script I've written to Accept.

If I understand your question correctly, you are asking how to get the sysId of the sysapproval_approver record from the client-side in a widget.
Unless you have defined current elsewhere in your server script, current is undefined. Secondly, $sp.getParameter() is used to retrieve URL parameters. So unless you've included the sysId as a URL parameter, that will not get you what you are looking for.
One pattern that I've used is to pass an object to the client after the initial query that gets the list of requests.
When you're ready to send input to the server from the client, you can add relevant information to the input object. See the simplified example below. For the sake of brevity, the code below does not include error handling.

nativescript-phone prevents Nativescript-contacts from returning

I have an app where I want to select a person from contacts and then send a text to that person. It works as expected for the first user, but after that the app never receives control after the contact is selected. I've isolated the problem to the Nativescript-phone plugin. If you simply call phone.sms() to send a text, and then call contacts.getContact(), the problem occurs. I see this on both Android and iOS.

I've spent more time on this and can see what's happening. Both plugins have the same event handler and same request codes:

What happens is that after invoking phone.sms, calling contacts.getContact causes control to return to the phone plugin, and NOT the contacts plugin. I tried changing phone's request code to 1002 but had the same results.
So, the next step is to determine how to avoid the collision of the event handlers.
Instead of using activityResult event, nativescript-phone plugin overwrites the default activity result callback.
A workaround is to set the callback to it's original value after you are done with nativescript-phone.

Getting file contents when using DropzoneJS

I really love the DropZoneJS component and am currently wrapping it in an EmberJS component (you can see demo here). In any event, the wrapper works just fine but I wanted to listen in on one of Dropzone's events and introspect the file contents (not the meta info like size, lastModified, etc.). The file type I'm dealing with is an XML file and I'd like to look "into" it to validate before sending it.
How can one do that? I would have thought the contents would hang off of the file object that you can pick up on many of the events but unless I'm just missing something obvious, it isn't there. :(

In the demo I've wrapped the Dropzone component in the EmberJS framework but if you look at the code you'll find it's just Javascript code, nothing much to be afraid of. :)
The things we'll do are:
Get the file before the network request
The key thing we need become familiar with is the HTML5 API. Good news is it is quite simple. Take a look at this code and maybe that's all you need:

The code above returns a Promise which resolves once the file that's been dropped into the browser has been "read" into Javascript. This should be very quick as it's all local (do be aware that if you're downloading really large files you might want to "chunk" it ... that's a more advanced topic).
Hook into Dropzone
Now we need to find somewhere to hook into in Dropzone to read the file contents and stop the network request that we no longer need. Since the HTML5 File API just needs a File object you'll notice that Dropzone provides all sorts of hooks for that.
I decided on the "accept" hook because it would give me the opportunity to download the file and validate all in one go (for me it's mainly about drag and dropping XML's and so the content of the file is a part of the validation process) and crucially it happens before the network request.
Now it's important you realise that we're "replacing" the accept function not listening to the event it fires. If we just listened we would still incur a network request. So to **overload* accept we do something like this:

including it in your init hook function

save the file contents to the .contents property of the file

To intercept the sending of the request on the network but still maintain the rest of the workflow we will replace a function called submitRequest. In the Dropzone code this function is a one liner and what I did was replace it with my own one-liner:

GWT FormPanel method replaced by input parameter

We've discovered a strange new bug in a GWT application I'm maintaining, and I'm not sure when it became an issue. Possibly with a new Firefox version.
We're sending a POST request to the server using a FormPanel, essentially like many examples I've seen online. But since we actually want a PUT request, one of the hidden input parameters is named "method" and has a value of "put".
Now, when I look at the request in Fiddler coming from Firefox, it is being transformed into a GET request with all the parameters in the QueryString. In IE and Chrome, the parameters are in the body of a POST request.
I've displayed the value of FormPanel.getMethod() in an alert, and in IE and Chrome the string "post" is displayed, whereas in firefox it is showing "object HTMLInputElement". Unfortunately, hosted mode debugging does not work with this project.
It obviously looks like the FormPanel's getMethod() function is returning the hidden input parameter named method instead of the actual form's method in Firefox.
Technically I should avoid changing the servlet as this is from an OpenSource project that we use, though I've found I can fix the issue by changing the hidden input parameter's name to "_method" on both ends.
Has anyone ever seen anything like this? I can't find anything in Google.

I would also suggest using XMLHttpRequest. In this case you [most probably] don't have to change anything on the server side.

can't seem to get progress events from node-formidable to send to the correct client over socket.io

So I'm building a multipart form uploader over ajax on node.js, and sending progress events back to the client over socket.io to show the status of their upload. Everything works just fine until I have multiple clients trying to upload at the same time. Originally what would happen is while one upload is going, when a second one starts up it begins receiving progress events from both of the forms being parsed. The original form does not get affected and it only receives progress updates for itself. I tried creating a new formidable form object and storing it in an array along with the socket's session id to try to fix this, but now the first form stops receiving events while the second form gets processed. Can you try putting console.log(socket_id);

I get the feeling that you might have to wrap that socket_id in a closure, like this:

The problem is that you aren't declaring socket_id and form with var, so they're actually global.socket_id and global.form rather than local variables of your request handler. Consequently, separate requests step over each other since the callbacks are referring to the globals rather than being proper closures.
rdrey's solution works because it bypasses that problem (though only for socket_id; if you were to change the code in such a way that one of the callbacks referenced form you'd get in trouble). Normally you only need to use his technique if the variable in question is something that changes in the course of executing the outer function (e.g. if you're creating closures within a loop).
