How to call laravel variables from inside YAML file? - laravel

In laravel .env file we can call another variable like this ${APP_URL} . Now I uploaded my app to google cloud app engine and using app.yaml but it isn't working. Can anyone help me solve it?


As per what was discussed in the comments, I believe that what you want to do is to simply declare APP_URL in your app.yaml to use it as a placeholder in other parts of the same app.yaml file.
The problem with that approach is that yaml does not support placeholders natively, so in order to do this you would have to use Anchors and Alias nodes as a workaround. You can find more details and also an example on those topics in this community answer.


After I wanted to deploy my Laravel app to google cloud I have faced many challenges. For example, I couldn't access static files in my public folder. That was solved with 'handlers' in app.yaml. And for my own question, we can remove .env from exclude and uploaded beside app.yaml file and it works well and this syntax '${APP_URL}' is working well. My app is a single page and it is working on Google App Engine well right now. Thanks

change vue cli create path location on Windows

I am just getting started on Vue.js and I seem to have run into a weirdness I could use some help with. When I creates a new project with the CLI it creates the new project folder in the root of my user folder. This is just plain bad practice. I would not mind putting them into a vue-projects subfolder but would like it even better if I could put them in my c:\inetpup\ folder.
I can't seem to do either. If I specify a path during create I get the following error Error: name can only contain URL-friendly characters. I have tried a number of different formats vue create "vueprojects\helloworld", vue create "vueprojects/helloworld/", vue create ".\vueprojects\helloworld", vue create "c:\inetpub\vueprojects\helloworld" among others. I even true the vue ui but it gives me a JS run time error.
The docs and my Google fu are failing me. Seems like such a simple thing so I am baffled.

Forehead slap. It will create the project in the current folder.
So you have to cd into the folder you want to create the project in and then do your vue create.
Never mentioned in the vue cli guide or the tutorial I am using so one of those many "we assume you already knew it" things that hang us up learning new things.

What is the better way to deploy laravel application in live server?

I am confused about the deployment of the laravel project in the live server.
I searched for this and found many solutions.
There are many processes to deploy laravel projects in a live server.
Someone suggesting to remove all files and folder from public folder
someone saying to change .htaccess etc.
What is the perfect way to deploy laravel projects in the live server?
If, I have to remove public folder then, why laravel included it?
If I have to copy .htaccess to root directory and need to change it.
Then why it is not used laravel as default. Would someone explain it to me, please?

laravel not picking file through asset()

In my laravel project i am trying to get js file though asset('js/app.js') which is inside public folder. it is working fine on localhost but on server it is not picking file. It is working on another server. I think there is any issue with htaccess file.
I try to use url() and URL::asset() but not working. I checked source of page link is perfect but still fail to pick file
I want to access that js file.

asset('public/js/app.js')

include php files from other servers in Laravel

I am working in a E-Commerce Laravel project. In this project, I need to include/require/import files stored in a different server of the E-Commerce. How I can do that? What are the paths I have to include? And what are the files I have to modify?

You really do not want to do that. Even if there is a possibility to include php files from different machine, it's an awful idea. Do not do that.
If you need to get some data from another server, use RESTful API or something like this.

code igniter framework guidance for beginners

I am just a beginner in code igniter. I have just downloaded the code igniter framework. But i don't know that where should i keep my html, php files and stylesheets, images etc. Is there any procedure to do the things? Please guide me.

CodeIgniter has an awesome user guide that will come with the install you can read through (or read it online at - http://codeigniter.com/user_guide/ ), or you can watch some of the videos on their site - http://codeigniter.com/tutorials/
In comparison to most other frameworks you're going to find they have maybe the smallest learning curve and great documentation. I would also recommend learning basic PHP and getting familiar with your web environment maybe before beginning.

hi I am a weekend coder and picked up CI about a year ago.
It helped me a lot.
The best tutorial I found was on the IBM's developer site. It runs through putting together a simple application. Admittedly, there's nothing in it about directory and file placement but it helps cement ideas about how models, views and controllers (MVC), and why MVC is so helpful. Because the basic idea is quite simple, it's worth running through a simple CI tutorial again and again till you 'feel' or intuit the basic helpfulness of the setup.
Things like JS, CSS files can be kept in their own folders at the first level of your website folder e.g /js or /css or /images. You ask about PHP files as well. PHP files which you, the coder, write, are either 'views', 'models' or 'controllers'. These go in the folders with those names in the /application folder e.g /application/views/yourview.php or /application/controllers/yourcontroller.php. The CI install comes with a default view file and a default controller, which you are probably already aware of.
The files inside /application/config are important as well. Read the user-guide about tweaking these files. The most obvious tweaks are to database.php to connect to your db, autoload to give automatic use of CI helpers/libraries which you can choose, and to config.php to give CI the name of your website e.g the name you give to '/'.
The file 'index.php' comes with the CI installation (/index.php). You don't need to fiddle with it at all really except to determine the level of error reporting you want ('environment') and that's not a priority at all. But it's important to remember this about index.php - that CI uses it as the essential reference for defining paths to useful folders like CSS or images. So even if your view file is in /application/views, if it refers to an image like a logo.gif in /images for example, the path to it is just /images/logo.gif. It is not anything more complicated like ../../images/logo.gif.

here is my directory structure.

Basic HTML and PHP files should be location

--views (this is where to put HTML and PHP files)
For other things such as Controller , Models and Views , you can't put any where but put in their related area.
