Why Spring Boot ignores configuration file inside its jar? - spring

I have Spring Boot app with application-aficheDataProvider.yml in resources folder.
Content of application-aficheDataProvider.yml:

Spring boot application not fetching cloud configs on S3

I have a Java spring boot application with gradle. I have my config file in S3. This is the file I have:

it is named service-dev.yml on S3
I also have the appropriate prop classes:

but when I try to use the props in my code, I get the error: "could not resolve placeholder in string". For instance when I do "${firebase.base}".
When I run in intelliJ, I have the environment variables set to my S3 bucket with the password and such.
Any suggestions on where I may be going wrong?

Spring Boot: Autowiring app credentials within custom autoconfiguration bean returns null

I am working with a custom AWS Simple System Management client just to avoid the original from using the default AWS authentication chain, so I placed my class in /META-INF/spring.factories and excluded the original from being autconfigured in bootstrap.yml . What I'm facing right now is to get the credentials from application.yml and pass them to my new conf, but when I try to autowire them all I get is null. I wonder if there is any way to achieve it

#ConfigurationProperties does not create a bean like #Configuration or #Component does. In your case CustomAWSSSMAuthProperties type bean/object will not be instantiated in the Spring context.
Generally #ConfigurationProperties is used with #Configuration or #Bean to bind the some properties to the bean.
You can annotate CustomAWSSSMAuthProperties with #Configuration to fix the issue.

#PropertySource does not bind a String propety to enum automatically?

In our integration test using springboot 1.4, we used
#ConfigurationProperties(locations = "classpath:test.yml")
with the locations attribute. This was mapping a string property to enum automatically. But starting from springboot 1.5, the locations attribute is removed.
As a workaround, I'm using #PropertySource but this doesn't support yaml file. So, I'm using a factory class to convert the yaml to java.util.properites. But I'm facing issues, with string property not binding to enum automatically.
Is there any good solution for this?

The relative path of application.yml file is /myApplication/src/main/resources/application.yml.
The Spring application takes the first profile as the default profile unless declared otherwise in the Spring application.

Kotlin spring-boot #ConfigurationProperties

I'm trying to create the following bean AmazonDynamoDBAsyncClientProvider. I've application.properties that defines endpoint and tablePrefix which I'm trying to inject using #ConfigurationProperties
Following is the code snippet for the same. When I run my spring-boot app it doesn't work.
I've tried doing the same ConfigurationProperties class using a regular java class which does set those properties but when it comes to AmazonDynamoDBAsyncClientProvider, the properties are empty. What am I missing here?

Have you tried getting rid of the #Component annotation on your ConfigurationProperties class?

I tried your configuration class and it gets populated. I think your mistake is in the way you are trying to create the bean, the function needs to be in a class annotated with #Configuration, this should work:

Spring will inject the config for you, as long as you annotate the config with #Component, like you did above.
I had a similar problem and fixed it this way:
I defined the configuration properties class with lateinit vars:

Then configured a bean in my spring boot application:

spring boot application context was not properly loaded if the yaml file wasn't application.yml

With following configuration, my test can read the properties from the yaml file correctly.

Then I renamed the yaml file to my-application.yml, and changed the PropertySource to

YAML files can’t be loaded via the #PropertySource annotation
It appears to work with #PropertySource("classpath:application.yml") because that's the default location and spring boot looks there regardless.
You may be able to use #ConfigurationProperties(location="claspath:my-application.yml") instead but it doesn't really achieve the same purpose (and I've never tried it myself).
