In my project I have a gridpane of Hboxes, and directly adjacent to the bottom right box in the gridpane I'd like to add another pane with a label in it. This pane must always share the height of the GridPane's elements, and also share the same y axis coordinate as the bottom right element.
I tried to accomplish this by providing the gridpane's bottom right element the name "actionLabelPin" and providing the new pane the name "ActionLabel" and executing
actionLabel.prefHeightProperty().bind(actionLabelPin.heightProperty());
Though this doesn't work to bind the heights of the two containers.
Below is an image to help visualize the task I'm trying to accomplish, where the grey pane is "ActionLabel" and the box directly to the left is "actionLabelPin"

I have an issue on triggering mouse event on a svg.
I am using the library d3.js to handle some graphic tasks. Specifically, when I manually click on a position on the svg, d3 draws a red or blue (depending on the path I am clicking on) circle on it and then returns the d3.mouse coordinates of the click.
Now, suppose I have a set of coordinates and want to trigger programmatically click on the corresponding point on the svg, so that it draws a red or blue circle automatically. How can I achieve that?
I read many solutions here but none allows to click on specific coordinates (while I can easily click on a specific path, for example).
My ideal function would be:
var svgd3 = d3.select('svg#id_svg')
function d3click(x,y,svgd3){
//does the click on [x,y, x,y are relative coord. depending only svg viewBox
...
}

I am trying to build a scene in my 2D game which has a panel whose elements are arranged as in this image:
The ScrollRect should dynamically add rows after users provide values to the InputField, select an option from the Dropdown, and then click the Button. This all works fine, except that the viewable area of for the ScrollRect has the same vertical size as its siblings within the parent panel.
This happens because the GridLayoutGroup of the parent panel requires the child cell sizes to be specified, and if I specify a value which makes sense for the top two panels it is too short for the ScrollRect. Putting a ContentSizeFitter on the parent panel does not help (also, despite Unity warning against it, there is a ContentSizeFitter on the content of the ScrollRect since without one the newly added rows will not appear when scrolling).
So my question is:
what do I need to do to allow the vertical sizing of the children of the top level panel to be based on their sizes, when one child's vertical size will change dynamically?

For grid layout you cannot control the cell sizes dynamically . Instead you can use horizantal / vertical layout groups where you can find an option control child size . And as mentioned in above ans add Layout element to child component and adjust the sizes
Both #Programmer and #Salma572 answers are true. If you want that size to be a fixed number or pixels, use a LayoutElement. However, It doesn't seem you can use a scale (in percent) or anything else dynamic.
It's a shame but you'll probably need to write a script.
It is possible. Attach Layout Element component to each child GameObject. You can then dynamically change the size of each child GameObject by modifying the Layout Element's Preferred Width and Height variable.
I have a borderPane with a menu top,a grid left and an image in the center.I want the image to have the same size as the center of the border because now the image goes over my grid.
I tried this:
imageView.fitWidthProperty().bind(box.widthProperty());
where imageView is the name for my image and box is the BorderPane object.Thank you.
See JavaFX Feature Request RT-21337 Add ImageViewPane and MediaViewPane controls which contains a code attachment for a sample ImageViewPane implementation which which will resize the ImageView it contains to the area available to the region. To get the behaviour required you might also need to implement computeMinWidth and computeMinHeight on the ImageViewPane so that they return zero rather than the minimum size of the Image.

This is because the minimum size of your image is currently larger than the available space of the center of your BorderPane:
BorderPane does not clip its content by default, so it is possible that childrens' bounds may extend outside its own bounds if a child's min size prevents it from being fit within it space.
Some potential alternatives to prevent the center content overflowing the border:
Manually set a clip on the center node to prevent it overflowing the borders.
Dynamically resize the ImageView as in the ImageViewPane sample linked above.
Place the ImageView in a ScrollPane.
Use the css -fx-background-image attributes to display and dynamcially resize your image rather than using an ImageView.
Set the center of the borderpane first before setting the border content, that way it will be rendered underneath the border content.
Use a different construct from a borderpane (e.g. a HBoxes, VBoxes, etc.) which don't overlap their nodes when the nodes are larger than the available display area.

My guess from the code provided is that this didn't work because the enclosing box of the image is a dynamically resizable pane of some sort, so the minimum width of the box is being determined by the width of the image and not vice versa.
Here is what exactly I am trying to do.
I have an image with square elements inside it. When i click on top left and bottom right corners of those elements they are surrounded with divs with border. I then have functions to drag and resize those divs(once they are created by two clicks). I want to be able to record the resized coordinates of those divs in text boxes. For example if the image is with height=700 and width=500. Then if i create a square div inside it with coordinates top left(x=190,y=150) and bottom right(x=290,y=250). Then if i drag this div around the image i want those coordinates to change accordingly. Same thing to happen if i resize it.

Then you`ll see a box on the right with the coordinates of this Green bordered div. I want those coordinates to change when i drag or resize this div. You can see the code in the source of the page.

It is possible to bind functions to the resize event through jQuery.
For example, ur kiroid has a class of ui-resizable. You could use something like:
$('.ui-resizable').resize(function() {

I've written some code which displays a wx.Frame, within which there is a wx.Panel, within which there is a jpg. The jpg is the same size as the frame, so that when the program starts up the user is presented with a picture covering the whole of the window. Overlayed over the top of this picture, and in the centre of the panel I want to put a wx.BoxSizer containing various widgets. So far I've got the sizer visible but, try as I might, I cannot shift it from the uppermost lefthand corner of the panel to the center. No doubt there are many round-about ways of doing this involving grids and borders, but before I set off down this path, I was wondering if I'm missing something simple and there is a command that can be used to position in widget in a specified part of a panel.
ps. I also know I could do this using absolute positioning, but I want to be able to resize the window while keeping the sizer at its centre.
Normally, you can't see a sizer. But regardless, you don't really center a sizer. You center the widgets INSIDE the sizer. So when you add a widget to the sizer, you'd want to do something like this:
mySizer = wx.BoxSizer(wx.VERTICAL)
mySizer.Add(widget, 0, wx.CENTER|wx.ALL, 5)
Now, that will only center it horizontally. If you want it in the very center of the panel, then create another BoxSizer that is oriented horizontally and add the first sizer to the second one, centering it too.
hSizer = wx.BoxSizer(wx.HORIZONTAL)
hSizer.Add(mySizer, 0, wx.CENTER)
