Valet 502 Bad Gateway - laravel

valet is not working after I updated php from 7.3 to 7.4. I already tried to reinstall valet, php, nginx and dnsmasq but it's still not working.
Now the ngix server is running but I can't acces to my projects. I get the error 502 Bad Gateway for every project url.
The services are running but brew services dont show the correct status.
dnsmasq unknown root /Library/LaunchDaemons/homebrew.mxcl.dnsmasq.plist
gitlab-runner started user /Users/user/Library/LaunchAgents/homebrew.mxcl.gitlab-runner.plist
mysql#5.7 started user /Users/user/Library/LaunchAgents/homebrew.mxcl.mysql#5.7.plist
nginx unknown root /Library/LaunchDaemons/homebrew.mxcl.nginx.plist
php error root /Library/LaunchDaemons/homebrew.mxcl.php.plist
php#7.4 unknown root /Library/LaunchDaemons/homebrew.mxcl.php#7.4.plist
redis started user /Users/user/Library/LaunchAgents/homebrew.mxcl.redis.plist
Nginx error log
2021/01/27 16:35:21 [crit] 35081#0: *1 connect() to unix:/Users/user/.config/valet/valet.sock failed (2: No such file or directory) while connecting to upstream, client: 127.0.0.1, server: , request: "GET /favicon.ico HTTP/1.1", upstream: "fastcgi://unix:/Users/user/.config/valet/valet.sock:", host: "devtest.test", referrer: "http://devtest.test/"

I've managed to get mine working again.
I started by doing a full wipe down following the instructions that valet gives when you run valet uninstall which involved removing valet and all associated config, uninstalling php, nginx and dnsmasq via brew and cleaning up all remaining config. I then reinstalled everything, reconfigured my sites in valet and tried to load one up. Still I got the 502 Bad Gateway error.
I eventually tried running valet use php to make sure it was correctly bound to the right php version. Valet claimed that is was but I ran it again with the force flag just in case valet use php --force.
After that I was up and running again. Hopefully this might help you too.
What's strange is that my brew services list output lists dnsmasq, nginx and php as status unknown but they do all seem to be running correctly. I can't work out what's happening there but at least everything seems to be working again now.

Why can't Sequel Pro connect to my local XAMPP server on Catalina?

I'm trying to set up my first XAMPP server. Most recent version of XAMPP, Catalina 10.15.3. XAMPP seems to run ok, I have Apache and mySQL on. Doesn't seem to work at localhost default, but I selected the option to run at localhost:8080 and when I visit that url I see the sample site.
BUT when I try to connect with Sequel Pro using host: 127.0.0.1, username root, port 8080 it thinks for a minute (vs. instant failure with no port specified) then times out. Have restarted my computer, but no luck. Any clues?

Not found error on setting up local server using LAMPP

When I enter localhost/hello.php in my browser, I get below error.
Not Found
The requested URL /hello.php was not found on this server.
Apache/2.4.18 (Ubuntu) Server at localhost Port 80
I think there is some compatibility issue in the LAMPP and Ubuntu.
To start apache2 normally you need to first hard stop it through following command:
Sudo service apache2 stop.
And then restart the apache2 or LAMPP . This worked for me.

#2002 - Connection refused — The server is not responding (or the local server's socket is not correctly configured)

My phpmyadmin showing this error, I am working on Ubuntu OS:
2002 - Connection refused — The server is not responding (or the local server's socket is not correctly configured)
mysqli_real_connect(): (HY000/2002): Connection refused
Connection for controluser as defined in your configuration failed
mysqli_real_connect(): (HY000/2002): Connection refused
This problem is occurred on Ubuntu, I tried all previous stack overflow answers, but it doesn't work for me.
I faced that similar problem using lamp , check if you may have more than two mysql path like in
Find all the other mysql installed in your system
`whereis mysql`
`mysql: /opt/lampp/bin/mysql /opt/lampp/bin/mysql.server /usr/share/man/man1/mysql.1.gz`
Now if in you're system two mysql if overlapping then remove others and keep only one mysql installed by lamp
sudo rm -rf /etc/mysql
Here is the link i found for apache2 i did the same with mysql and it's working
http://xmodulo.com/how-to-uninstall-and-remove-apache2-on-ubuntu-debian.html
Finally stop all the mysql existing service running
sudo service mysql stop
sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 stop
sudo /opt/lampp/lampp start

Mac docker unable to access port 80 with nginx

I'm following the tutorial "Getting started with Docker for Mac" but I'm unable to access the nginx home page at localhost. Every time I access localhost, the displayed page is "It works!" which is the default page contained in /Library/WebServer/Documents/index.html.en. I tried to kill all httpd services to remove the binding to the port 80 but it didn't change anything. I also checked that there wasn't any application that was running on port 80 and that neither Skype, MAMP or an Apache server who could be using this port was running.
I think that my Docker installation is correct as I'm able to run the docker --version, docker-machine --version and docker-compose --version without error. I'm running the container with the command described in the tutorial
docker run -d -p 80:80 --name webserver nginx but it doesn't work. I tried many ports but it didn't change anything.
Here is the output of a
docker ps
So I tried to access the app via 0.0.0.0:80 but it didn't work neither, it always redirect me to the page contained in Library/WebServer/Documents/index.html.en. I tried binding to all kind of ports (8080:80, 8181:81, 8181:80, 8181:8181 ...) and nothing never changed. In those case, I got a page telling me
"Safari can't connect to server. Safari can't open the page "0.0.0.0:8080" because Safari can't connect to server "0.0.0.0".
I also tried replacing localhost by 127.0.0.1 but I still have the issue.
If you need further explanations or have any question, ask me. Thanks in advance for your help

Valet (Laravel): DNS address can not be found

I'm trying out Valet, it looks really nice from what I've heard.
I've been trough the "whole" installation process, Valet is succesfully installed.
But when I cd into my projects file and enter valet park and browse to http://blog.dev, I get "The DNS server address of blog.dev can not be found."
I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. :)
When you run valet install it attempts to install dnsmasq. It requires sudo privileges.
You can check that it's installed and running using
brew services list
You should see something like
dnsmasq started root /Library/LaunchDaemons/homebrew.mxcl.dnsmasq.plist
You may however need to tap brew/services first
brew tap homebrew/services
If it's not there, run
brew install dnsmasq
brew services start dnsmasq
Run valet install again to set up dnsmasq and keep an eye out for any errors. What this should do is append a line to the bottom of /usr/local/etc/dnsmasq.conf similar to
conf-file=/Users/{YOURUSER}/.valet/dnsmasq.conf
/Users/{YOURUSER}/.valet/dnsmasq.conf then should contain
address=/.dev/127.0.0.1
Check that your dns server is responding to requests
dig testing.dev #127.0.0.1
You should see a response like
;; ANSWER SECTION:
testing.dev. 0 IN A 127.0.0.1
To actually ensure that your Mac knows that it should resolve *.dev using your local DNS server, it need to be told to do so. Valet also handles this for you but you can check if it's done it's job by doing the following.
Inside the directory /etc/resolver, there should be a file entitled dev with the following contents
nameserver 127.0.0.1
This creates a custom DNS resolver for *.dev and points all requests at your local DNS server.
Restart dnsmasq with either of the following commands and then give it a try again.
// this
brew services restart dnsmasq
// or this
sudo launchctl stop homebrew.mxcl.dnsmasq
sudo launchctl start homebrew.mxcl.dnsmasq
If this is all working, you should be able to ping anything.dev
ping anything.dev
PING anything.dev (127.0.0.1): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 127.0.0.1: icmp_seq=0 ttl=64 time=0.039 ms
64 bytes from 127.0.0.1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.081 ms
That ensures the DNS related bits are working.
Ultimately the question is about DNS related problems but as this started off as a here's everything you need to have tried, I'll leave this below. That said, if you're unable to ping something.dev or get an error like "The DNS server address of blog.dev can not be found." as per the OP, it's something above to do with DNS which needs resolving.
Since Caddy serves websites on port 80, you need to ensure that nothing else is running on port 80.
sudo lsof -n -i:80 | grep LISTEN
Ideally this should return caddy if valet is running as expected. You want to see the example below or nothing ideally; nothing because it means we can just start Valet.
caddy 76234 root 3u IPv6 0x4f871f962e84fa95 0t0 TCP *:http (LISTEN)
You may see other webservers, such as Apache or Nginx (and their child processes, _www and nobody) in the example below.
httpd 79 root 4u IPv6 0xf4641199930063c5 0t0 TCP *:http (LISTEN)
httpd 239 _www 4u IPv6 0xf4641199930063c5 0t0 TCP *:http (LISTEN)
nginx 4837 root 6u IPv4 0xf4641199a4e8e915 0t0 TCP 127.0.0.1:http (LISTEN)
nginx 4838 nobody 6u IPv4 0xf4641199a4e8e915 0t0 TCP 127.0.0.1:http (LISTEN)
Assuming you've installed Nginx with homebrew you can run the following to stop it.
brew services stop nginx
OSX ships with Apache installed so you can stop with with the following if it's running.
sudo apachectl stop
At this point you can likely start Valet with valet start and it'll work.
You may get a further error which is caused by PHP being installed without FPM. You can check this using
brew info php70 | grep php70-fpm
Which should yield something along the lines of
The control script is located at /usr/local/opt/php70/sbin/php70-fpm
If it doesn't appear to be installed, use the following.
brew uninstall homebrew/php/php70
brew install homebrew/php/php70 --with-fpm
valet restart
I had the same problem - getting stuck at ping foobar.dev - and fixed it by restarting my Macbook (after valet install). I am sure this is not an exact solution and I reckon there is a way to do this without restarting. Yet, it worked for me. I did not have to do any other steps.
[Edit - Additionally, before restarting I made sure to try the installing with fpm tip, and to follow all brew's suggestions upon installing php70 (tweaking the path, making sure php70 starts on system start. I cannot say whether these things helped, so probably want to try just restarting, first. If it's really just a restart that's required, or some other additional step to properly start services, I think the laravel documentation probably needs some clarification.]
I had the same problem, post installation I got stuck at pinging foo.dev.
I checked for running services.
> brew services list
Name Status User Plist
dnsmasq stopped
nginx stopped
php71 stopped
Started all the three services manually with
> brew services start dnsmasq
> brew services start nginx
> brew services start php71
Ran valet install.
Ping successfully to foo.dev
