I am facing this error when perform partitioning by date on a hive table that have more 70 columns :

Try (in this order)
Increase mapper parallelism. The goal is to get more smaller mappers. Check how many mappers does it start and adjust figures. This will not work if you have too big files in non-splittable format like gzip, proceed with two next steps then.
--This is example, check your current setings and adjust to get x2 or more mappers
set hive.input.format=org.apache.hadoop.hive.ql.io.HiveInputFormat;
set tez.grouping.max-size=32000000; --bigger files will be splitted
set tez.grouping.min-size=32000; --smaller files will be combined on single mapper
Disable map-side aggregation (map-side aggregation often leads to OOM)
set hive.map.aggr=false;
Increase mapper memory if two steps above do not help (try to find minimum working container size)
set hive.tez.container.size=9216; --Adjust figures and chose minimum working size
set hive.tez.java.opts=-Xmx6144m;

When You work with Have on Tez, you have to define at least all of these 4 parameters, for example:
set hive.tez.container.size=8192;
set tez.am.resource.memory=8192;
set tez.runtime.io.sort.mb=2048;
set hive.tez.java.opts=-Xmx6144m;
set tez.am.launch.cmd-opts=-Xmx4096m;

Total file size in HDFS: 10TB.

They are mostly the default values. Any suggestion on which to tweak for optimum performance?

Getting a Intermittent issue while running Delete or Update in Hive

I have a very strange behavior with my cluster, I am running Delete/Update statement in Hive cli which sometime works fine and some time fails below is the Command. Table is ACID enabled.

Unable to find any Solution.
What is the cause, Do I need to enable something or do I need to verify any config or missing something in the cli?
You can try increasing the memory that is being used to run the query. Could be it is running out of memory allocation before it can finish the query. Also try using Tez, I find it normally runs faster... explanation between the two can be found here

try setting these values(increase the memory based off of need) before you run your query
SET hive.tez.container.size=4096;
SET hive.tez.java.opts='-Xmx2000m';
SET hive.execution.engine=tez;
or these two if you're set on using mapreduce
yarn.scheduler.minimum-allocation-mb
yarn.scheduler.maximum-allocation-mb
Set execution engine to MR and try. I will work as expected.

I have faced the same issue, just change the execution engine to MR and it will work.
NPE could be related to mapred.FileInputFormat. The inputformat name matters.
Try setting org.apache.hadoop.hive.ql.io.HiveInputFormat for hive.input.format.
set hive.input.format=org.apache.hadoop.hive.ql.io.HiveInputFormat;

GoogleHadoopFileSystem class is missing when enabling TEZ

We're running Hive on Hadoop leveraging Google Cloud Storage using bdutil version 1.3.2. One of the options that we installed is TEZ.

But, if I change the execution engine to tez:
