I am trying to get the Attunity CDC service to work for me on my laptop. I have created the MSXDBCDC database on my SQL Server and am in the process of setting up my first service
Test connection works fine.
I am using a service account that gets assigned to MSXDBCDC when I click OK on the above form
But then I get the following error
I am working from my laptop setting up a dev environment, but the SQL Server is on a server
Can you see anything glaringly obvious wrong with my approach?

I have developed a c# windows application which uses SQL server 2012 database in Visual Studio 2015 which is running well on my pc.
I am to install this application on a number of computers without SQL server installed on it, but when I run the application, its gives me database connection error.
My question is, how can I create the setup file to be able to run the app on those clients pc without installing SQL server on all those computers. Please I need your help.
Thank you.
Am Emmanuel.
Use an Azure database and have the clients connect to that.
Have a look at https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/services/sql-database/
Alter your application connection string and make sure you keep the connection string secret.
Server=tcp:myserver.database.windows.net,1433;Database=myDataBase;User ID=mylogin#myserver;Password=myPassword;Trusted_Connection=False;Encrypt=True;MultipleActiveResultSets=True;
An important fact is that the clients need to allow communication via port 1433.
If this is not an option create an API application and query the database via that.
If you need a private database per client you can use a database file and connect to the file

Update based on reply
You can create a pop-up on the application allowing the users to add valid settings and credentials when your appsettings.json is blank or "a test connect" to the database fails.
I am remotely debugging my application with azure and VS2019 and it works fine until I have to connect to the database.
Then I get the following error. "The underlying provider failed on Open."
On the other hand, if I debug locally everything works correctly.
Do you have to activate any permission in Azure or in the project config so that the database can be accessed remotely?
Right after the connection string I have put the following.
_context.Database.Connection.Open ();
So it returns the following error to me:
"Unable to connect to any of the specified MySQL hosts".
All this locally does not happen to me. Only when trying to debug remotely.
According to your description, we can ensure that the remote debug function of vs2019 is normal. An error is reported in this _context.Database.Connection.Open (); code. Obviously, the program cannot connect to the mysql database server.
Troubleshooting:
First make sure that your mysql database server can be accessed using tools (such as Mysql Workbench).
Using tools to ensure that the database is accessible is to ensure that the firewall of your database server is open (mysql in azure or other server).
Check the connectionstring of mysql in the released program. According to your error message, it is likely that the connection string is used incorrectly.
After rebooting my Windows Server 2016 Standard (SQL Server 2016) my SSIS process that runs this query:
select * from openquery(HRMPROD, 'SELECT QUERY HERE' )
started failing with this error:
I get the same error if I try to run the query in SSMS. I have the same linked server set up on my test instance and the query is successful when I run it there. I have compared the linked server create script on both instances and it is the same.
Any idea where I should look for what is causing the connection issue on the one server but not the other?
Thank you.
Saying the answer is on the Oracle side is just like pointing fingers across the way. Let's just fix the issue here.
There is a connection string that is used from SSIS, (which you also used in SSMS) The connection string contains three main components to connect and would result in the 12154 error if any of them were incorrect:
Host
Instance name (different than Instance on Sql Server, think database name)
port
The port most likely hasn't change, neither has the database name, but the host...No, hasn't changed, but the DNS server used to connect most likely has! I would ping the host and see what returns from the SSIS and your SSMS host that you're using. I would expect it to fail. Find out what IP address the host is using and ping that - see if it returns. I'm guessing that's the change that needs to be updated or your Network folks need to fix a DNS configuration/server issue.
Hope this helps!

Since you are getting a response from the TNS Listener, the problem lies on the Oracle side. See Architecture of Oracle Network Services for an overview of how the Oracle networking handles things. Keep in mind that based on the error message you've reached the TNS Listener, so you only need to check things between TNS and the Oracle database... In other words, your networking and SQL Server settings are fine or you wouldn't be able to get this error message.
I would agree with above that the issue might have to do with the network. I have come across that a few times, where we can set everything up, but a firewall is blocking communication between the two servers.
Open up powershell on the new server and run a tracert to the target to see the hops and identify if is connecting across the network.
If it is, then run a test-netconnect on the specific port, to see if the port is open from the firewalls.
Cheers!
My organisation wants to setup DB2 for our .Net application that links/uses the database setup on a remote desktop with a fixed IP address. Now, I'm trying to setup this DB2 databse using DB2 Express-C and IBM Data Studio and it is unable to connect to the database through the Java connection.
How do I know this? I tried performing a normal SQL operation using a DB2 command window and it worked.
If I try to do the same thing with Data Studio or command line processor, it doesn't work: always throws a 'user ID revoked' error.
I tried reconfiguring environment variables to JDBC4 driver, using it from an administrator account, but nothing works.
Question - How do I make this work properly? is there any guide or tutorial anyone can share to setup db2 express c properly.
I have an AWS server (MS SQL SERVER EXPRESS 2008 R2 with IIS), with an elastic IP of 54.214.8.111, security groups configured with HTTP, MS SQL and FTP, and I can connect to the remote virtual machine using the rdp file that amazon gives you in the console.
However when I try to connect via visual studio to test if the database is working, it gives me a "Login failed for user 'dbuser' error. I have a user called dbuser on my SQL Server (on the server side of course) with full access permissions etc. I also cannot connect to an ftp on the server, despite all guides and help doc. Something seems to be simply blocking my connection. I have tried the same thing on multiple computers.
Everything seems to be configured correctly except I suspect the server instance.
Can anyone help? PS I'm fairly new to web development, this is my first AWS EC2 server.
[UPDATE] I just tried to create a new instance in a different location, same thing, maybe I don't know how to configure the SQL Server on the EC2?
It appears that by default EC2 SQL instances have SQL authentication disabled.
In SQL Management Studio, connect as the built in Administrator account, then go to
Server Properties>Security>
Under Server Authentication, change to "SQL Server and Windows Authentication Mode"
Restart SQL
Your local accounts should now work
Try running in elevated mode (right click Visual studio and run as Administrator), solved some issues I was having recently.
