yup validation with dynamic data - validation

I have a yup validation with API response requirement for a react hook form.
My form is like:
import React from "react";
import useForm from "react-hook-form";
import { schema } from "./schema";
import { useTestProps } from "./useTestProps";
function Sub({ title, showForm }) {
const { register, handleSubmit, errors } = useForm({
validationSchema: schema
});
const { data } = useTestProps();
const onSubmit = (data) => {
//submit form
};
// console.log(errors);
return (
<div>
<form onSubmit={handleSubmit(onSubmit)}>
<label>{title}</label>
<input type="text" name="iip" ref={register} />
<br />
{errors.iip && <p>{errors.iip.message}</p>}
<br />
<label>Email</label>
<input type="text" name="email" ref={register} />
<br />
{errors.email && <p>{errors.email.message}</p>}
<br />
<input type="submit" />
</form>
</div>
);
}
export default Sub;
Validation schema of the form is like this,
//schema.js
import * as yup from "yup";
export const schema = yup.object().shape({
iip: yup
.string()
.required()
.test("validate with testProps", "iip not found", (value) => {
// validate that value should be one of testProps
// if value is in data, return true, or return false
return true
}),
email: yup.string().email().required()
});
My requirement is to validate iip field with data returned from API call in useTestProps which is like this,
{
"data": ["test1", "test2", "test3"]
}
How can I access data in schema object test where I can compare user entered value with JSON response?

Retriving data for input radio won't make a default selection

Goal:
Retrieve data 'smartphones', by API, and apply it as a default selection in the input radio component for the react hook form.
Problem:
The code do not work that makes smartphones as a preselection in the input radio button.
However, if I make a change by using hard coding, it works but hard coding do not solve the case.
I don't know how to solve it.
Info:
*Using React TS and React hook form.
*Newbie in react TS and hook form.

Thank you!
import React, { useState } from 'react';

const [category, setCategory] = useState('');

var data = await fetch('https://dummyjson.com/products/1').then((res) => {
return res.json();
});
console.log(data.category);
setCategory(data.category);
}
FetchData();
}, []);
const [data, setData] = useState(null);
const { register, handleSubmit } = useForm<FormValues>({

I got some help and the solution is:

favShow: string;
};
export default function App() {

const [data, setData] = useState(null);
const { register, handleSubmit, resetField } = useForm<FormValues>({
defaultValues: {
lastName: '',
favShow: '',
},
});
React.useEffect(() => {
async function FetchData() {
var data = await fetch('https://dummyjson.com/products/1').then((res) => {
return res.json();
});
setCategory2(data);
}
FetchData();
}, []);
React.useEffect(() => {
if (category2) {
const obj = JSON.parse(JSON.stringify(category2));
console.log(obj);
resetField('lastName', { defaultValue: obj.discountPercentage });
resetField('favShow', { defaultValue: obj.category });
}
}, [resetField, category2]);
const onSubmit = (data) => {
setData(data);
};
return (
<React.Fragment>
<form onSubmit={handleSubmit(onSubmit)} className="form-container">

'handleSubmit' is not defined no-undef

Here I am getting an error of handleSubmit function because ,here I am using this syntax 'function PostForm () ' instead of 'class PostForm extends Component {}',so what needs to be changed in order to work with handlesubmit function.
function PostForm () {
handleSubmit = (e) => {
e.preventDefault();
const title = this.getTitle.value;
const message = this.getMessage.value;
const data = {
id: new Date(),
title,
message
}
console.log(data)
}
return (
<div>
<h1>Create Post</h1>
<form onSubmit={this.handleSubmit}>
<input required type="text" ref={(input)=>this.getTitle = input}
placeholder="Enter Post Title"/>
<br /><br />
<textarea required rows="5" ref={(input)=>this.getMessage = input} cols="28"
placeholder="Enter Post" />
<br /><br />
<button>Post</button>
</form>
</div>
);
}
export default PostForm;
Since it's the function component you need to define handleSubmit as a function.
For example
const handleSubmit = (e) => {
...
}

React ajax call when button onClick event using hooks

import React, { useState, useEffect } from "react";
import axios from "axios";
function App() {
const [contact, setContact] = useState({
fName: "",
lName: "",
email: ""
});
function handleClick() {
const res = axios.get("url");
}
useEffect(()=>{
handleClick();
})
return (
<div className="container">
<h1>
Hello {contact.fName} {contact.lName}
</h1>
<p>{contact.email}</p>
<input name="fName" placeholder={contact.fName} />
<input name="lName" placeholder={contact.lName} />
<input name="email" placeholder={contact.email} />
<button onClick={handleClick}>Submit</button>
</div>
);
}
export default App;
I set initial state with empty string but I am trying to update input attributes with data from external source whenever user clicks submit button.
I heard I need to use useEffect method to api call in react, but I have no idea where to start.
if you're going to update the data on the button click, then you can use a count mechanism, a separate variable to keep track of the count.
const [count, setCount] = useState(0);
<button onClick={() => setCount(count + 1 )}>Submit</button>
async function handleClick() {
const res = await axios.get("url");
setContact(res.data);
}
useEffect(() => {
handleClick();
}, [contact, count]);

Unable to render redux form select input choices dynamically

I am trying to populate a select menu in redux forms dynamically.
I've been using the debugging tools in chrome and can see that the 'departments' variable sees the array list
({departments.map(department => <option key={department} value={department}>{department}</option>)}
but the final choice list isn't populating. I'm guessing it has something to do with the renderSelectField function, but I'm not sure what I am overlooking?
import React, { Component } from 'react';
import { Field, reduxForm } from 'redux-form';
import { connect } from 'react-redux';
import isValidEmail from 'sane-email-validation';
class SimpleReduxForm extends Component {
constructor(props) {
super(props);
this.onSubmit = this.onSubmit.bind(this);
this.renderSelectField = this.renderSelectField.bind(this);
}
onSubmit = async (data) => {
try {
let response = await fetch('/api/getRecords', {
method: 'POST',
body: JSON.stringify(data),
headers: {
'Content-type': 'application/json'
}
});
let responseJson = await response.json();
//display success message to user
alert('Form successfully submitted')
return responseJson;
//reset form
} catch (error) {
alert(error);
}
}
renderInputField(field) {
return (
<div className="form-group">
<label htmlFor={field.input.name}>{field.label}</label>
<div className="field">
<input placeholder={field.label} {...field.input} className="form-control" type={field.input.type} />
</div>
</div>
)
}
renderSelectField(field) {
return (
<div className="form-group">
<label htmlFor={field.input.name}>{field.label}</label>
<div className="field">
<select {...field.input}
className="form-control"
defaultselection={field.defaultSelection}
><option>{field.defaultselection}</option></select>
</div>
</div>
)
}
render() {
const { handleSubmit, pristine, reset, submitting, invalid } = this.props;
//Options for select - this should be an AJAX call to a table to get options list
const departments = ["Dept 1", "Dept 2", "Dept 3"]
return (
<form onSubmit={handleSubmit(this.onSubmit)}>

<button type="button" className="btn btn-warning" disabled={pristine || submitting} onClick={reset}> Clear Values </button>
</div>
</form >
)
}
}
//Validate Errors Before Submission
const validate = (values) => {
//create errors object
const errors = {}
/*Example showing to check is a field contains data

if (!values.username) {

}
/*check to see if email is provided and that submission is an actual email address*/
if (!values.email) {
errors.email = 'Required!'
} else if (!isValidEmail(values.email)) {
errors.email = 'Invalid Email!'
}
/* Example to show that the length of a field
* can be checked as part of validation */
if (values.num_field < 2) {
errors.num_field = "Must be at least 10 years old"
}
return errors
}
const mapStateToProps = state => ({
SimpleReduxForm: state.form.SimpleReduxForm
});
export default reduxForm({
validate,
form: 'SimpleReduxForm',
enableReinitialize: true,
keepDirtyOnReinitialize: true,
})(connect(mapStateToProps)(SimpleReduxForm));
I figured it out. Just in case anyone else runs into this issue. I needed to add {field.children} into the renderSelectField function. So the final function looks like:
renderSelectField(field) {
return (
<div className="form-group">
<label htmlFor={field.input.name}>{field.label}</label>
<select {...field.input}
className="form-control"
defaultselection={field.defaultSelection}
><option>{field.defaultselection}</option>{field.children}</select>
</div>
)
}

"Cannot read property 'requesting' of undefined" when passed custom props to component

I got an issue may cause from react-boilerplate Or "redux-form/immutable", wish someone can help me out.
I tried to put some custom props into Form component and this will print out messages of error when submit.
Here is my code:
import React from 'react';
import { Form, Icon } from 'semantic-ui-react';
import { PropTypes } from 'prop-types';
import { Field, reduxForm, reset } from 'redux-form/immutable';
import { connect } from 'react-redux';
import { ReduxFormInput, ReduxFormCheckbox } from '../../components/ReduxFormInput';
import { signupSync, passStrength } from '../../components/Validate';
import StyledButton from '../../components/StyledButton';
import AcceptTerms from './acceptTerms';
import signupRequest from './actions';
class Signup extends React.Component {
static propTypes = {
handleSubmit: PropTypes.func.isRequired,
submitting: PropTypes.bool.isRequired,
signupRequest: PropTypes.func,
signup: PropTypes.shape({
requesting: PropTypes.bool,
successful: PropTypes.bool,
messages: PropTypes.array,
errors: PropTypes.array,
}),
}
submit(values, dispatch) {
console.log(values);
this.props.signupRequest(values); // will be undefined 'props' after submit
}
render() {
const {
handleSubmit,
submitting,
signup: {
requesting,
successful,
messages,
errors,
},
} = this.props;
return (
<Form onSubmit={handleSubmit(this.submit)} >
<Form.Field>
<Field
type="text"
name="accountName"
component={ReduxFormInput}
icon="user outline"
label="Tên tài khoản"
placeholder="Tên tài khoản của bạn"
/>
</Form.Field>
<Form.Field >
<Field
type="email"
name="email"
component={ReduxFormInput}
icon="mail outline"
label="Email"
placeholder="Email của bạn"
/>
</Form.Field>
<Form.Field required >
<Field
type="password"
name="password"
component={ReduxFormInput}
icon="lock"
label="Mật khẩu"
placeholder="Nhập mật khẩu"
warn={passStrength}
/>
</Form.Field>
<Form.Field required >
<Field
type="password"
name="confirmPassword"
component={ReduxFormInput}
icon="lock"
label="Xác nhận Mật khẩu"
placeholder="Xác nhận lại mật khẩu"
/>
</Form.Field>
<Form.Field>
<Field
defaultChecked
type="checkbox"
name="confirm"
checkboxLabel="Tôi muốn nhận thông tin thông qua email, SMS, hoặc điện thoại."
component={ReduxFormCheckbox}
/>
</Form.Field>
{AcceptTerms}
<div>
<StyledButton primary fluid type="submit" disabled={submitting} >
<Icon name="add user" />
Đăng ký tài khoản
</StyledButton>
</div>
</Form>
);
}
}
const mapStateToProps = (state) => ({
signup: state.signup,
});
const connected = connect(mapStateToProps, { signupRequest })(Signup);
const formed = reduxForm({
form: 'signup',
validate: signupSync,
onSubmitSuccess: afterSubmit,
})(connected);
const afterSubmit = (result, dispatch) => dispatch(reset('signup'));
export default formed;
My reducer
import { SubmissionError } from 'redux-form/immutable';
import {
SIGNUP_REQUESTING,
SIGNUP_SUCCESS,
SIGNUP_ERROR,
} from './constants';
const initialState = {
requesting: false,
successful: false,
errors: [],
messages: [],
};
const reducer = function signupReducer(state = initialState, action) {
switch (action.type) {
case SIGNUP_REQUESTING:
return {
requesting: true,
successful: false,
errors: [],
messages: [{
body: 'Signing up...',
time: new Date(),
}],
};
case SIGNUP_SUCCESS:
return {
requesting: false,
successful: true,
errors: [],
messages: [{
body: `Successfully created account for ${action.response.email}`,
time: new Date(),
}],
};
case SIGNUP_ERROR:
return {
requesting: false,
successful: false,
messages: [],
errors: new SubmissionError({
email: 'failed',
_error: 'failed',
}),
};
default:
return state;
}
};
export default reducer;
Inject reducer on routes.js
...
{
path: '/signup',
name: 'signup',
getComponent(nextState, cb) {
const importModules = Promise.all([
import('containers/SignupPage/reducer'),
import('containers/SignupPage/sagas'),
import('containers/SignupPage'),
]);
const renderRoute = loadModule(cb);
importModules.then(([reducer, sagas, component]) => {
injectReducer('signup', reducer.default);
injectSagas(sagas.default);
renderRoute(component);
});
},
}
...
Then I got an error screen like this.
TypeError: Cannot read property 'requesting' of undefined

I notice that react-boilerplate doesn't use react-hot-loader so I guessed it may cause from boilerplate, but I don't have enough webpack experience to config it.
This error message means your signup property is undefined, which may happen if your state does not have signup property or that property is undefined. Have a look at your reducer.
