I'm new in Laravel. I attached my code whenever I update the form it gives same error. Please check my code throughly and let me know where is the error.
public function updateCategory(Request $request) {
$catname = $request->catname;
if($catimg = $request->hasFile('updatecatimg')) {
File::cleanDirectory(public_path().'/images/'.$catname);
$catimg = $request->file('updatecatimg');
$catimgnm = $catimg->getClientOriginalName();
$storeTo = public_path() . '/images/' . $catname;
File::makeDirectory($storeTo, $mode = 0777, true, true);
$catimg->move($storeTo, $catimgnm);
}
Category::where('cat_id', $request->catid)->update(['cat_name' => $catname, 'cat_img' => $catimgnm, 'status' => $request->status]);
return back();
}

namespace App\Models;
use Illuminate\Database\Eloquent\Model;
class AddCategory extends Model
{
protected $table = 'cms_category';
protected $primaryKey = 'cat_id';
}

Error
please help me...

Here is your updated answer. Category::findOrFail() will find the category object, using it, we can update specific field only and use save() function to update the object.
public function updateCategory(Request $request)
{
$catId = $request->catid;
$category = Category::findOrFail($catId);
$oldCategory = $category->cat_name;
rename(public_path() . '/images/' . $oldCategory, public_path() . '/images/' . $request->catname);
$category->cat_name = $request->catname;
if ($request->hasFile('updatecatimg')) {
File::cleanDirectory(public_path() . '/images/' . $request->catname);
$catImg = $request->file('updatecatimg');
$category->cat_img = $catImg->getClientOriginalName();
$storeTo = public_path() . '/images/' . $request->catname;
File::makeDirectory($storeTo, $mode = 0777, true, true);
$catImg->move($storeTo, $request->catname);
}
$category->save();
return back();
}

You should try this code.
This is your edit file
<input type="hidden" name="old_image" id="old_image"
value="{{isset($contact->cat_img)?$contact->cat_img:''}}">
After:
use File;
public function updateCategory(Request $request) {
if ($request->hasFile('updatecatimg')){
$image_path = public_path('/images/'.$request->old_image);
if(File::exists($image_path)){
unlink($image_path);
}
$file = $request->file('updatecatimg');
$catimgnm = $file->getClientOriginalName();
$destinationPath = public_path('/images/');
$file->move($destinationPath, $catimgnm );
$contact = "YOUR MODEL NAME"::find($request->cat_id);
$contact->cat_img =$catimgnm ;
$contact->save();
}
}
I hope this code is working in your Controllers.

Image resizing not working with Intervention image Package

The photo is saved, but without resizing, the original photo is actually saved
protected function uploadImage($images = '') {
$path = 'upload/images';
if (request()->hasFile('image') && $files = request()->file('image'))
$images = Image::make($files->store($path, 'public_files'))->resize(320, 240);
return $images;
}
public function store(CreateGalleryRequest $request, Job $job) {
$image = $this->uploadImage();
if ($request->hasFile('image')) {
$data['image'] = $image . $image->dirname . '/' . $image->basename;
} else
$data['image'] = null;
$job->gallery()->create($data);
return redirect(route('jobs.gallery.index' , ['job' => $job->id]));
}
You need to call save() function to save image
...
$images = Image::make($files->store($path, 'public_files'))->resize(320, 240)->save('image path');
...
wrote:
$images = Image::make($files->store($path, 'public_files'))->resize(320, 240)->save($files->store($path, 'public_files'));
error:
Illuminate\Database\QueryException
actually there is an error in the following code:
$job->gallery()->create($data);

How to convert base64 images to Url images when using summer note text editor in Laravel inside controller?

I am trying to use image url instead of base64. i kindof figured a way how to get images out of the editor and save it inside the directory, but i am trying to insert it into database. i get this error.
Object of class DOMElement could not be converted to string
below i have added the store function inside my controller
public function store(Request $request)
{
//
$data = $request->all();
if (!$request->has('published')) {
$data['published'] = 0;
} else {
$data['published'] = 1;
}
if (!$request->has('featured')) {
$data['featured'] = 0;
} else {
$data['featured'] = 1;
}
$img = null;
if ($request->hasfile('title_img')) {
$image = $request->file('title_img');
$name = time() . '.' . $image->getClientOriginalExtension();
$image->move(public_path() . '/uploads/blogs/', $name);
$img = '/uploads/blogs/' . $name;
}
/* summernote */
$detail=$data['description'];
$dom = new \DomDocument();
$dom->loadHtml($detail, LIBXML_HTML_NOIMPLIED | LIBXML_HTML_NODEFDTD);
$images = $dom->getElementsByTagName('img');
foreach($images as $k => $img){
$data = $img->getAttribute('src');
list($type, $data) = explode(';', $data);
list(, $data) = explode(',', $data);
$data = base64_decode($data);
$image_name= "/uploads/summernote/" . time().$k.'.jpeg';
$path = public_path() . $image_name;
file_put_contents($path, $data);
$img->removeAttribute('src');
$img->setAttribute('src', $image_name);
}
$detail = $dom->saveHTML();
/* summernote */
$data['title_img'] = $img;
$data['user_id'] = auth()->user()->id;
$title = $data['title'];
$data['slug'] = Str::slug($title);
auth()->user()->posts()->create($data);
return Redirect::route('admin.blog.index')->withSuccess('Whoopie!! New Blog Added!');
}
I hope i can get some help regarding this. Thanks in advance

Updating an image in laravel does not save to DB, only saves when adding new record

I have the form of a service where a name, description, and photo is required. When adding a new service the form works fine, everything is saved in the database.
Problem is when I want to change the photo and upload a new one its not working.
**Here is my controller method **, for both adding and updating service
public function post(ServiceRequest $request, Service $service)
{
$service = Service::firstOrNew(['id' => $request->get('id')]);
$service->id = $request->get('id');
$service->name = $request->get('name');
$service->description = $request->get('description');
$image = $request->file('photo')->store('services/');
$service->photo = $image;
if ($request->hasFile('photo')) {
$image = $request->file('photo');
$name = time() . $service->name . '.' . $image->getClientOriginalExtension();
$destinationPath = public_path('/images/services');
$image->move($destinationPath, $name);
}
if ($request->has('photo')) {
$image = $request->file('photo');
}
$service->save();
Alert::success('Service Saved');
return redirect()->back();
// dd($service);
}
I need some assistance with updating the image and removing an old one that was added on update record.

Not updating database and not throwing error in laravel

I have an issue while updating the user. When I try to update the user after clicking the save button then it redirect me to the same page and not throwing me any error but also its not updating anything in the database. Below is my code. I have no idea what's going on here. Help me :)
Controller
public function update(ReportRequest $request, $id)
{
$report = Report::findOrFail($id);
$input = $request->all();
if ($file = $request->file('photo_id')) {
$name = time() . $file->getClientOriginalName();
$file->move('images', $name);
$photo = Photo::create(['file' => $name]);
$input['photo_id'] = $photo->id;
}
$report->update($input);
return redirect()->back();
}
Route
Route::resource('admin/reports', 'ReportController', ['names'=>[
'index'=>'admin.reports.index',
'create'=>'admin.reports.create',
'edit'=>'admin.reports.edit',
]]);
Models
class Report extends Model
{
protected $fillable = [
'student_id',
'student_name',
'class_id',
'subject',
'teacher_name',
'report_categories_id',
'total_marks',
'obtained_marks',
'percentage',
'position',
'photo_id',
];
public function photo() {
return $this->belongsTo('App\Photo');
}
public function studentsClass() {
return $this->belongsTo('App\StudentsClass', 'class_id');
}
public function student() {
return $this->belongsToMany('App\Student');
}
}
Make sure you have your $fillable properties in your Photo and Report models, otherwise the create() and update() methods won't work as expected.
Check the $fillable fields in the Model as above. If the error persists check your laravel log on storage/logs/laravel.log.
In controller:
public function update(ReportRequest $request, $id){
$report = Report::findOrFail($id);
$input = $request->all();
try{
if ($request->photo_id != '') {
$path = 'images/';
$file = $request->photo_id;
$name = time() . $file->getClientOriginalName();
$file->move($path, $name);
$photo = Photo::create(['file' => $name]);
$report->update(['photo_id' => $photo->id]);
}
return redirect()->back();
}catch(\Exception $e){
return redirect()->back()->with('error_message', $e->getMessage());
}
}

Laravel 5 - Image Upload and Resize using Intervention Image Package

I want to upload a photo with some posts.
This is my controller
public function store(WisataRequest $request)
{
$input = $request->all();
if ($request->hasFile('gambar')) {
$gambar = $request->file('gambar');
$filename = time() . '.' . $gambar->getClientOriginalExtension();
if ($request->file('gambar')->isValid()) {
Image::make($gambar)->resize(300, 300)->save(public_path('/upload/gambar/'.$filename));
$input->gambar = $filename;
$input->save();
}
}
$wisata = Wisata::create($input);
Session::flash('flash_message', 'Berhasil Terkirim');
return redirect('admin_wisata');
}
But when it runs i found an error
Attempt to assign property of non-object
Change
$input->gambar = $filename;
$input->save();
To
$input['gambar']= $filename;
$input variable is not an object, it is an array. You can try accessing gambar in $input by doing $input['gambar']
You can put
$input['gambar']= $filename;
Instead of
$input->gambar = $filename;
$input->save();
OR
public function store(WisataRequest $request)
{
$wista = new Wista;
$wist->name = $request->name;
-----
$wista->save();
if ($request->hasFile('gambar')) {
$gambar = $request->file('gambar');
$filename = time() . '.' . $gambar->getClientOriginalExtension();
if ($request->file('gambar')->isValid()) {
Image::make($gambar)->resize(300, 300)->save(public_path('/upload/gambar/'.$filename));
$wista->gambar = $filename;
$wista->save();
}
}
Session::flash('flash_message', 'Berhasil Terkirim');
return redirect('admin_wisata');
}
