Issue with getting Tomcat Server to show pages - spring

Question

I just started a Spring demo on Udemy and I seem to be having some issue with my tomcat server. I created a war using the maven plugin on VSCode and I ran my war on the server. The resultant webpage only ends up showing my index.jsp file contents, not the files in my views page. When I try to use the mappings that I created in my controllers, I keep getting a 404 error.

I'm not sure what the issue is. Could it be the way I'm creating my war file? I usually clean > package for the maven plugin to create the war file.
