Finder App suddenly starts in read only mode (Mac OS) - macos

The finder app on my Mac Mini Server from 2012 with Catalina installed starts in a protected window. When i open drives from the desktop however, the normal window appears. This has been going on a few weeks already. I am not able to pin it to a specific event.
I already deleted the finder preferences file ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist without success after rebooting. Also first aid in the disk utility app on the Macintosh HD drive wasn't helpful at all.
Another thing that i unsuccessfully tried was to set permissions in the Macintosh HD drive to my user account including all subfolders.
Any idea on how this is caused?

Login screen password not working in MacOS bigsur. how to fix it?

While I start mac-mini. I was unable to login into the login screen. It shows the wrong password.
but the password is right and I daily use it.
CPU: Mac mini
OS: Big Sur
I Research and find the solution from the Apple support team. and I saw many people face this problem.
Solution:
Step 1:
Start on your Mac and continue to long press and hold the power button until you see the startup options window. Click the gear/settings icon labeled Options, then click Continue.
Note: If you're asked to select a user you know the password for, select the user, click Next and enter their administrator password.
Step 2:
Then select reinstall macOS from the utility window in macOS recovery, then click Continue and follow the onscreen instructions.
Follow these guidelines during installation:
If the installer asks to unlock your disk, enter the password you use to log in to your Mac.
If the installer can't see your disk or notifies you that it can't install macOS on your computer or volume, you may need to erase your disk first.
If the installer offers you the choice between installing on Macintosh HD or Macintosh HD – Data, choose Macintosh HD.
Allow the installation to complete without putting your Mac to sleep or closing its lid. Your Mac may restart and show a progress bar several times, and the screen may be empty for minutes at a time.
When the installation is complete, your Mac may restart to a setup assistant.

Verifying "Xcode" on every macOS boot

every time I start or restart my MacBook, macOS verifies Xcode.
This is not a picture from me I took it from another post but its basically the same just with "Xcode" (the app) instead of the image file.
It takes a while and for the time macOS is verifying Xcode the fan of the MacBook goes like to 100%. While its verifying I can't really use other applications because they freeze and will unfreeze when the verification is finished.
I tried to remove the quarantine xattr from the Xcode.app and recursively from all package components but there never was one set xattr: /Applications/Xcode.app/: No such xattr
I also tried to to reinstall Xcode. When booting into safe mode the same verification window appears.
This happened after I updated my mac to macOS Catalina. If you have any idea what I can try next, let me know.
Ok so apparently in my case there was something messed up with my system. I couldn't find any solution and besides the Xcode problem Reminders always wanted to access a keychain of mine. Not the login, the system or iCloud Keychain but a keychain I created myself just to store and organise some password. And when I clicked on "Deny" Reminders would ask again so I only could close this window and be able to do other things when I allow access.
Anyway after I completely reinstalled macOS (first erase the whole Macintosh HD and then reinstall Catalina) everything works fine.
So if any of you doesn't have that much of data on their Mac just a few files to back up I'd definitely try a reinstall. Took my 3-4 hours and now it works again.

Preferences Error "Could not load Sharing preference pane" El Capitan

Need to use Mac as Xamarin Mac Agent and configure remote login.
Anyone come across this error?
For some reasons, permissions are be changed so you are not able to see some panels. To fix it, you should restart your computer in SafeMode
Safe Mode boot deletes system caches that may help after an OS X upgrade.
Top left corner of your screen click the Apple  > Shut Down.
After your Mac shuts down, wait 10 seconds, then press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold down the Shift key. You should press the Shift key as soon as possible after you hear the startup tone, but not before.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple logo and progress indicator.
Once you are in Safe Mode, enter the Sharing panel (without changing anything) and then go back to the Apple  menu. From the drop down menu click: Restart.
This should fix the problem. If not, you should try to restore all files permission by using "Repair disk permission" utility. To do this,
open Disk Utility, which is in the Utilities folder of your Applications folder.
Select the startup disk from the list of volumes.
Click the First Aid tab.
To check permissions, click Verify Disk Permissions. To repair permissions, click Repair Disk Permissions.
Disk Utility checks a file's permissions only if the file has a corresponding receipt in /var/db/receipts. The receipt tells Disk Utility what the permissions should be. Not all installers include a receipt with the files they install.
I hope it helps.

What steps are needed to make OS X Yosemite use an alternate drive for home directories?

Immediately after restoring my Mid-2012 MacBook Pro (Retina) to OS X Yosemite 10.10.1, I copied the contents of my home directory to a separate logical partition called "Data" (/Volumes/Data/Username) and changed my home directory path in System Preferences > Users and Groups. I rebooted as it requires.
Since making this change, I have experienced frequent freezing, most notably when using Safari, Firefox, Chrome, Safari and System Preferences. Coinciding with the freezing, I found constant spamming in system logs like this:
kernel[0]: Sandbox: fmfd(298) deny file-read-metadata /Volumes/Data
Right or wrong, in fmfd.sb, under allow file-read-metadata, I have added:
(literal "/Volumes/Data")
Rebooted and now the system is not freezing and the errors in the logs have stopped.
Is the fix of allowing read permissions to this volume appropriate/safe? Are there are any other issues using a home directory on a separate volume?

XCode 6.0 does not open on OS X 10.9.4

I just downloaded XCode_6_beta_6.dmg from the official apple website. However, when prompted to drag the installation to the application folder, it just unarchived the installation but does not install XCode_6_beta_6. When i try to open xcode_6_beta_6 from the applications folder, the new xcode6 beta icon just keeps popping in the application dock and does nothing. How do i overcome this situation so that the new xcode6 beta is installed on my machine?
For some weird reason, apple does not trust this installation and hence does not continue.
Please follow the below instructions to continue with the installation.
Open System Preferences
Open Security and Privacy
Unlock the settings screen if it is not already unlocked.
select "Anywhere" from the "Allow apps downloaded from:" section.
lock and close the preferences screen.
Your installation shall start in a moment!!
Also happened to me. Used Deepak's fix but had an additional strange problem where the Icon would still stay bouncing in the dock. Be patient & wait (for me it took a good 10 minutes!) for a dialogue box to eventually appear saying 'This is an application downloaded from the internet, do you want to open?' Obviously click 'Open'. Odd, considering it's Apple's own app.
