I am unable to get a dropdown menu to work in the api management developer portal. There is very little documentation about this, but I have seen from github questions that it is suppose to be able to have a dropdown menu in the top menu bar like in this link
I am unable to get this myself. I have created pages in the navigation menu that have subpages,
and I tried to add a menu widget to the top bar with the root navigation item beeing the menu with subpages, but there is no options when editing the menu to select the list to be dropdown.
How can I get dropdown menues?
There are no "Submenu" or "Menu with Dropdown" widgets, the only other dropdown widgets I find is "List of APIs (dropdown)" and "List of products (dropdown)".
In the navigation structure you can create sub-menus by selecting a parent item and then clicking "Add navigation item" to add child items (also you can use arrow keys to make an existing item a subpage or promote it to parent level). After that, the Menu widget with "Horizontal" layout will display the dropdown when clicking on them. Menus with "Vertical" layout will form a tree of navigation items.

I want to create a side menu which appears along with article. I have created a side menu. But if i click on one menu item only the article is appearing. menu is not coming.
Hello you need to assign your article to a menu item and connect your side menu module to the menu item just created. If you want to hide that menu item so it is not visible on your main menu then create a new menu (called for example hidden-menu) and assign the menu item to it. This hidden menu does not need to be assign to a module to work. Hope i made myself clear :)
i've uploaded a joomla (version 1.5.26) site: http://srajib.info/s2l/
when i click any particular event (Right side), it also shows home slider:
http://srajib.info/s2l/index.php?option=com_jevents&task=icalrepeat.detail&evid=3&Itemid=1&year=2013&month=09&day=07&title=long-jump-event&uid=07390f799fedccea98b8ed46532fa4cb&catids=1
if i click any date of calendar (Right side), it also shows home page slider.
how can i avoid to show home slider both cases?
Try this:
Go to your Module Manager
Identify your frontpage slider module, and click on its name
In the Menu assigments section click the Select Menu Item(s) from the List option
From the list below it you can select the pages/menu items that you wish the module to be displayed on. Make sure to deselect the Events and Calendar menu items.
Click the Save icon in the top toolbar.
I have just installed Joomla version 2.5.9 and also the Kunema forum component version 2.0.4. I haven't installed any other components/modules/plugins.
I created a new top menu item called "Forum Sports" as a "Menu Alias Item" and pointed it to the Kunema Menu's "Forum" item (please see image below).
However, in the site when I click in the "Forum Sports" top menu item, it doesn't get active If I point this menu item to any other menu/article/page, the menu item gets active (please see images below).
How can I make the top menu item "Forum Sports" active when pointing to the Kunema Menu's Forum item?
The reason is Joomla assigns two different classes to menu items. If you're on the menu item page it will assign an .active and .current css class. Most templates (including Joomla's) menu items then base their styling on the .current class. To make the menu appear active just add in some extra css for the .current class into your templates css file :)
Im newbie to Joomla. How do I change the main menu like screen below to my customize menu?
Menu
Create your own custom menu from the backend. Login to your administrator panel.
Menus->Menu Manager->Add New Manager
Enter the menu details and you will be able to see it in the drop down. Select menu type items and assign articles, contact etc to your newly created menu.
Now under Extensions tab click on Module Manager . Now manage your custom menu to the position you want it to display. Like if you want to display your custom menu as main menu then go to main menu and assign your menu to it under basic options and the position you want it to display.

Not clear from your question that what you need to do but as per your menu image i will describe my answers.
If you need to change the position of menu then go to backend extension->Module Manager->select main menu and change position of main menu.
Also same you can change your custom menu positions.
If you need to change main menu and set custom menu instead of main menu then you need to change menu position and set position of custom menu from module manager.
Menu items will be added from the menus->select menu->add new menu items.
Not clear from your question that what you need to do but as per your menu image I will explain my answer below -
if you want to main menu to be a drop-down menu then you can use some free menu extension module of joomla like JB DropDown Menu or CK Megamenu, dropdown menu.
I tried adding some pages in joomla but the navigation on the left disappears when following the newly add link. Please have a look here and notice the left navigation bar not showing under the "Test Menu Item" (left bottom).
I have literally copied all parameters from another menu item (e.g. "MILIEU") but it doesnt seem to affect the behavior. In stead the "news archive" item is always listed in the left navigation area.
How to remove the news archive link and have the normal navigation shown?
Please help!

Check the menu assignment of the module you want to show when a menu item is selected. Check this: http://www.byte.nl/cms/images/joomlatemplatecursus/jt15_5/menu-assignment.jpg
