Eclipse Buildpath issue for after Maven : Update Project

We are working on Sprint Boot in eclipse IDE Oxygen 4.7.3a with RTC Client v6.0.5
RTC - code repository where we keep our code base
The problem is whenever we do
Right click Project > Maven > Update Project (Force Update of Snapshots/Releases)
JRE System Library is downgraded to J2SE-1.5 from Workspace default JRE (java-11-openjdk)
It makes us to fix Java build path again to openjdk-11 manually. How can we avoid auto JRE downgrade after Maven > Update Project

For Simple Maven Project
M2Eclipse is using target parameter from maven-compiler-plugin information to set your eclipse project.
The default value is 1.5, if you are using a maven version under 3.8.0.
So you need to configure at maven level which java version you want to target by changing your pom.xml with :
<build>
<plugins>
<plugin>
<artifactId>maven-compiler-plugin</artifactId>
<version>3.10.1</version>
<configuration>
<source>11</source>
<target>11</target>
</configuration>
</plugin>
</plugins>
</build>
OR
<properties>
<maven.compiler.source>11</maven.compiler.source>
<maven.compiler.target>11</maven.compiler.target>
</properties>
About java version number, I think those both syntax (1.x and x) are supported. (E.g. for java8, 1.8 or 8)
For Sping Boot
It should work to use :
<parent>
<groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-boot-starter-parent</artifactId>
<version>version (e.g 2.5.6)</version>
</parent>
<properties>
<java.version>11</java.version>
</properties>
If you look at spring-boot-starter-parent, you will see that java.version properties is used to set maven.compiler.source and maven.compiler.target

Allure maven plugin should be in reporting section only. In regular dependencies you need
<dependency>
<groupId>ru.yandex.qatools.allure</groupId>
<artifactId>allure-junit-adaptor</artifactId>
<version>${allure.version}</version>
</dependency>
instead. Also for advanced Allure features (like attachments and test steps) you need to configure aspectj and java agent in maven surefire plugin.
Please check the details at https://github.com/allure-examples/allure-junit-example.git.
Thanks miheys, Vania. I see now Allure report getting created!! Pls see attmt.
But it says 0 Testsuites, 0 Testcases
What could be the reason. I ran the case against 1 test suite. Can you pls check. Also I tried allure-junit-adaptor, it errored out that it cannot find files to download. So I ram wihout it. Here is my POM below.
Here is the POM

I am converting one of my maven project into gradle. For doing this I am runngin following command where pom.xml is located
gradle init --type pom
But it is giving me java.lang.NullPointerException

<groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-boot-starter-parent</artifactId>
<version>1.2.2.RELEASE</version>
<relativePath />
</parent>
When you remove the <relativePath/> element or set it correctly, the gradle will initialize the project.
<parent>
<groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-boot-starter-parent</artifactId>
<version>1.2.2.RELEASE</version>
<!-- <relativePath>../parent/pom.xml</relativePath> -->
</parent>
The problem was with the incorrectly set relativePath element, which didn't point to the parent pom file as it should.
I don't know why but worked after commenting the "repositories"
Thanks for all help
I feel a cleaner way to convert a maven project with parent module to a gradle one is by following steps below:
Get an effective pom.xml for the project to pom_eff.xml:
mvn help:effective-pom -Doutput=pom_eff.xml
Remove parent tag from pom_eff.xml
Take backup of the original pom.xml and rename pom_eff.xml to pom.xml.
Do gradle init
This way gradle engine gets a flattened version of the pom.xml that is far simpler to decode for the gradle system.
In the Gradle page:
Note Gradle doesn’t support the import scope in the POMs of dependencies, so you’ll have to manually import them using the above syntax.
https://gradle.org/migrating-a-maven-build-to-gradle/
Not only will the Gradle init task allow you to create a new skeleton project, but it will also automatically convert an existing Maven one to Gradle. All you have to do is run the command
$ gradle init

Spring-boot no maven parent and unittests not running

I tried modifying the spring-boot-sample-integration project's Maven build in the samples to not use a parent spring-boot-starter-parent, but to import the spring-boot-dependencies pom in the dependency management. This is because I would like to use spring boot as a Maven module to an existing project.
All build ok; however, the junit test does not run on the Maven install lifecycle. I´m wondering what else I need to do and why the difference. Below is the pom I used. I did not modify any of the sample classes. I just modified the pom. Any help would be most appreciated.

Our convention is to end our test with Tests instead of Test so you need to instruct the maven-surefire-pluginabout our default.
Something like
<plugin>
<groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId>
<artifactId>maven-surefire-plugin</artifactId>
<configuration>
<includes>
<include>**/*Tests.java</include>
</includes>
<excludes>
<exclude>**/Abstract*.java</exclude>
</excludes>
</configuration>
</plugin>
