I am working on the QuickSight embedded report url generation. I am trying to set the parameter default value programatically using below JAVA code.It is not working.
GetDashboardEmbedUrlRequest req = new GetDashboardEmbedUrlRequest()
.withAwsAccountId(awsAccountId)
.withDashboardId(reportInput.getDashboadId())
.withUserArn(userArn)
.withIdentityType(EmbeddingIdentityType.QUICKSIGHT)
.withSessionLifetimeInMinutes(sessionTimeout);
req.putCustomQueryParameter("CampaignName", "ABC");
req.putCustomQueryParameter("reportDev", "Program");
// get the dashboard URL
String embedUrl = quickSightClient.getDashboardEmbedUrl(req).getEmbedUrl();
LOGGER.info("URL:{}",embedUrl);
In the above code, "CampaingName" is multivalues parameter attached to the dropdown control. It's default value is set to "[All]" while building a report. Parameter "reportDev" is single value parameter with no default value and no control or any thing attached to it. Dummy parameter I introduced for testing.
After running the code, when I copy the url printed in console by logger and run it in the browser, report opens properly but with "CampaignName" and "reportDev" both set as "ALL".
Sample generated ulr is as below
https://xx-xxxx-x.quicksight.aws.amazon.com/embed/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/dashboards/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx?code=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx&identityprovider=quicksight&isauthcode=true
Well if I get the dashboard url and pass the parameter in the url to, it worked properly. "CampaignName" is set to "ABC" and "reportDev" set to "Program". According the data in the report also got filtered. Url working corrctly as below.
https://xx-xxxx-1.quicksight.aws.amazon.com/embed/xxxxxxxxxxxx/dashboards/xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx#p.reportEnv=Program&p.CampaignName=ABC
Can anybody please tell me what is missing in my code. I tried below variation as well but no luck.
req.putCustomQueryParameter("p.CampaignName", "ABC");
req.putCustomQueryParameter("p.reportDev", "Program");
Have you tried to drop the p. from the parameter name, eg
req.putCustomQueryParameter("CampaignName", "ABC");
req.putCustomQueryParameter("reportDev", "Program");
I know that worked for the javascript sdk.

I'm new to use Testcomplete , i'm using javascripts to automate my code, below are sample script ( converted one recorded first then converted into jscript) and in this scripts what i observe that TestComplete identified and captured the object element by using complete web url path not on only object specific .
efunction Test_Login {var UserName, Password, TestEnv;UserName = "XYZ";Pwd = "XYZXYZ";TestEnv = "https://test.Env.com/";Browsers.Item(btChrome).Run("TestEnv",1);Aliases.browser.pageTestenvCom.formFrmlogincomponent.textboxUsername.SetText("UserName");Aliases.browser.pageTestenvCom.formFrmlogincomponent.passwordboxPassword.SetText("Pwd");Aliases.browser.pageTestenvCom.formFrmlogincomponent.buttonLogin.ClickButton();}e
what i means lets see below example of login page
thank you
Whenever we record any Test case in Test-Complete, it stores all the object in the Naming Repository and then access the same.
This helps test-complete in easily recognisation of object and can improve the speed of test-case, in case there are multiple objects visible on screen
You can go through following link for more info on Name Mapping.

I am running a coded ui test in Visual Studio 2013 into a WPF data grid using values from a csv file. When I have a blank value in the csv file eg ,, it is working fine for input fields but when it comes to entering the empty string into a field on the data grid the coded ui test fails with the following error:
An exception of type 'System.ArgumentNullException' occurred in Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.UITesting.dll but was not handled in user code
Additional information: Value cannot be null.
When I run the test manually I can submit the form without this value so I know it is not mandatory on the UI, the code just seems to be falling over if a value is not sent. If I enter a value on the csv the test will run but I deliberately want the field to be empty.
Has anyone come across this problem before and if so is there a way I could either adapt the csv or the code to get this to work? I have also tried ,"", and this did not work either.
Thanks
I think the way you're doing it (using the isNullOrWhiteSpace method to determine if you should skip entering the value) is the right way. If you don't want to write that each time you're entering values into the field, you could write an extension method instead:
public static void EnterValue(UITestControl control, string inputString)
{
if (!String.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(inputString)
Keyboard.SendKeys(control, inputString);
}
And then just call that when you want to enter text:
string csvValue = /*value from the .csv file*/
StaticUtilityClass.EnterValue(myControl, csvValue);
Not a ground breaking change, but it would cut down on the number of times you have to write that if-statement.
I am creating a JMeter jmx file dynamically by using JMeter APIs. I am able to add a ThreadGroup within a TestPlan and a JavaSampler within the ThreadGroup. But when I add a CSVDataSet element within the Java Sampler, it does not get saved properly.
The following code is used to create a new CSVDataSet element
CSVDataSet csvDataSet = new CSVDataSet();
csvDataSet.setName("CSV Data Set");
csvDataSet.setComment("Sample CSV Data Set");
csvDataSet.setDelimiter(",");
csvDataSet.setFileEncoding("");
csvDataSet.setFilename("d:\\jmeter\\data.csv"); // variable
csvDataSet.setQuotedData(true);
csvDataSet.setRecycle(true);
csvDataSet.setShareMode(shareMode.all);
csvDataSet.setStopThread(false);
csvDataSet.setVariableNames("firstname, lastname, email"); // variable
csvDataSet.setEnabled(true);
When this is saved using SaveService.saveTree, the final jmx does not contain all the values which were set.
<org.apache.jorphan.collections.HashTree>
<CSVDataSet testname="CSV Data Set Config" enabled="true">
<stringProp name="TestPlan.comments">Sample CSV Data Set Config</stringProp>
</CSVDataSet>
<org.apache.jorphan.collections.HashTree/>
As seen above, only the test name, enabled, and comments are added. The rest of the variables are completely ignored.
Is there something that needs to be set in order to get all the values as expected?
or is this a bug in JMeter? I am using version 2.11
The basic code is as per section 4.3 from following link
http://blazemeter.com/blog/5-ways-launch-jmeter-test-without-using-jmeter-gui
To that I add the code shown above. The way it is added is,
testPlanTree.add("testPlan", testPlan);
testPlanTree.add("loopController", loopController);
testPlanTree.add("threadGroup", threadGroup);
testPlanTree.add("httpSampler", httpSampler);
testPlanTree.add("csvDataSet", csvDataSet);
SaveService
.saveTree(testPlanTree, new FileOutputStream("d:\\test.jmx"));
output of CSVDataSet block is as shown above.
After looking into the JMeter source code, it seems all the properties are set using the setProperty function rather than the individual setter functions. So putting the following code does the job of creating the CSVDataSet element properly.
csvDataSet.setProperty("delimiter", ",");
csvDataSet.setProperty("fileEncoding", "");
csvDataSet.setProperty("filename", "d:\\data.csv");
csvDataSet.setProperty("quotedData", true);
csvDataSet.setProperty("recycle", true);
csvDataSet.setProperty("shareMode", "shareMode.all");
csvDataSet.setProperty("stopThread", false);
csvDataSet.setProperty("variableNames", "var1, var2, var3");
Not sure why setters are not used in the code, but this seems to be the way to go for now
It is clearly not a bug in JMeter otherwise CSV Data Set could not be saved.
It is probably an issue in the way you build the HashTree, but unless you show the full code, you cannot get help.
By the way, as I said in a previous answer, what you are trying to do to build different tests based on input parameter is not good idea IMHO, the approach will be very fragile towards upcoming versions of JMeter.
JMeter provides ways to do it that you should follow.
I want to add a default value as javascript for a report parameter so I did the following (in the eclipse birt designer):
The problem I have is: when I deploy the app (that contains the report) the javascript is not evaluated:
However, when I preview the report in the birt report designer it evaluates the javascript default value:
Here is the code that I use (filtered to have only the relevant stuff):
IReportRunnable design = getReportRunnable(pathToTemplate);
IRunAndRenderTask task = _birtReportEngine.createRunAndRenderTask(design);
task.setRenderOption(options);
task.getAppContext().put(EngineConstants.APPCONTEXT_CLASSLOADER_KEY, ReportEngine.class.getClassLoader());
task.setParameterValues(parameters);
task.validateParameters();
task.run();
The question is: did I miss something? Should I add an option somewhere that forces the evaluation of the default javascript expression?
The code you show is the code for creating and rendering a report but it's not the code for displaying the parameter form.
Are you using the Birt-Webviewer or a self developed Web App?
In the latter case and if you retrieve the default parameter values per org.eclipse.birt.report.engine.api.IScalarParameterDefn.getDefaultValue(), the javascript expression will not be evaluated.
To get default paramater values with expressions evaluated you have to use the engine task IGetParameterDefinitionTask and there the method org.eclipse.birt.report.engine.api.IGetParameterDefinitionTask.getDefaultValue(IParameterDefnBase arg0).
Using BIRT designer 3.7.1, it's easy enough to define a report for an XML file data source; however, the input file name is written into the .rptdesign file as constant value, initially. Nice for the start, but useless in real life. What I want is start the BIRT ReportEngine via the genReport.bat script, specifying the name of the XML data source file as parameter. That should be trivial, but it is surprisingly difficult...
What I found out is this: Instead of defining the XML data source file as a constant in the report definition you can use params["datasource"].value, which will be replaced by the parameter value at runtime. Also, in BIRT Designer you can define the Report Parameter (datasource) and give it a default value, say "file://d:/sample.xml".
Yet, it doesn't work. This is the result of my Preview attempt in Designer:
Cannot open the connection for the driver: org.eclipse.datatools.enablement.oda.xml.
org.eclipse.datatools.connectivity.oda.OdaException: The xml source file cannot be found or the URL is malformed.
ReportEngine, started with 'genReport.bat -p "datasource=file://d:/sample.xml" xx.rptdesign' says nearly the same.
Of course, I have made sure that the XML file exists, and tried different spellings of the file URL. So, what's wrong?
What I found out is this: Instead of defining the XML data source file as a constant in the report definition you can use params["datasource"].value, which will be replaced by the parameter value at runtime.
No, it won't - at least, if you specify the value of &XML Data Source File as params["datasource"].value (instead of a valid XML file path) at design time then you will get an error when attempting to run the report. This is because it is trying to use the literal string params["datasource"].value for the file path, rather than the value of params["datasource"].value.
Instead, you need to use an event handler script - specifically, a beforeOpen script.
To do this:
Left-click on your data source in the Data Explorer.
In the main Report Design pane, click on the Script tab (instead of the Layout tab). A blank beforeOpen script should be visible.
Copy and paste the following code into the script:
this.setExtensionProperty("FILELIST", params["datasource"].value);
If you now run the report, you should find that the value of the parameter datasource is used for the XML file location.
You can find out more about parameter-driven XML data sources on BIRT Exchange.
Since this is an old thread but still usefull, i ll add some info :
In the edit datasource, add some url to have sample data to create your dataset
Create your dataset
Then remove url as shown
add some script
