I'm building an Ionic 4 PWA and I am looking for a "simple" solution to the following:
For each item in a list e.g. a newsfeed or comments list: I want a "more" icon (the dotdotdot icon) to show a list of options the logged in user has available e.g. if they own the comment or newsfeed item they will have extra options like "edit" and "delete" etc.
Now I can use an ActionSheet to show these options and dynamically add the correct options into the sheet - all well and good. But this only looks good on a mobile device. If the user is on a desktop then an action sheet looks out of place. So, a Popover would look better but only on the desktop view.
Is it possible to dynamically create a popover in code without having to create a component for it as the items in the popover list will vary depending on what type of object it is e.g. newsfeed, comment etc and their access rights to that object e.g. edit/delete etc.
Not sure if I have explained this very well but looking for a slick, simple UI Ionic 4 way of displaying "options" to the user when then click/tap on the more icon depending on device.
I did go down the route of having ActionSheet for mobile users and Material Design Mat-Menu for the desktop but it just seems over complicated.
Any advice would help.
Thanks,
Rowie
How about a popover with a custom css class that is using a screen media query?
Hi does anybody knows if I can make a button in Xamarin Forms that opens a small dropdown menu? I did this in android studio but I can't find a way how this could work in Xamarin.
It should look like this:
And like this if the button is clicked:
And the Button should not be in the navigation bar because this page don't have one.
So if anybody could help me I would be very grateful and sorry for my bad english.
The closest API in Xamarin that does that is to display a pop-up using DisplayActionSheet, but the dropdown menu will be at the bottom of the screen. Or you can use a Picker (link to documentation).
If you want to implement something that look exactly like the image in your post, you can create a StackLayout that contains a few buttons, and show it when the drop down menu button is clicked.
i think that you can do it not directly but if we let some things be together we can achieve it, you have to add toolbar item for the button and for the menu list it's a popup page that has transparent background and list menu on the top right !
I have created AppShell Page as a master page for my mvvmcross UWP(windows 10) app and added hamburger menu in it. Now I want to add two buttons like Users and Customers in hamburger menu. When click on users button i want to open sliding panel from right side with animation and display list in it and when user click anywhere in page except sliding layout then hide sliding layout.
Please suggest me any good way to achieve this.
Thank you.
Easy - use a TranslateTransform to animate sliding and Visibility to make it show up or hide.
I am developing a web application. I used radio buttons for selecting the category as shown in following image.
On Selecting the first radio button hides the Overlay button. On selecting the second radio button shows a button where on click of that i can select the data from overlay.
After clicking on second radio button, if i click on browsers refresh button the option2 is selected by default but the "select From Overlay" is not displayed. This issue is coming in Mozilla Firefox. Can anyone suggest how to solve it?
The value being preserved across the refresh is a convenience feature of forms. In this case, you will need some extra page init script to look at the value on the radio buttons to initialize as if the click happened.
Note: If you refresh with Ctrl+F5, you will generally see the browser will load the page with all the form values from before the refresh tossed out. Your user won't do this, but it illustrates how the browser is juggling your input in an effort to preserve it.
Is there a way to show text along with the icons permanently rather than when a user clicks the "..."?
Or should I instead just use standard buttons instead of the application bar?
As far as i know there is no way to achieve what you are telling.. the user should click on the "..." to see the menu...

I would say, if you have maxium two buttons to display on the page, you will probably be fine with standard text buttons, like the screenshot below from the windows phone marketplace. However, you probably don't want any icons on them.
Also try putting a rectangle behind the buttons so it looks like an application bar. :)
