TortoiseGit does not show overlay icons for some files - sometimes - tortoisegit

I currently have a very strange issue. I have a repository, which includes another one as submodule. Recently, I added some files (three to be exact) within a subfolder of that submodule. I did that via git cli and not with TortoiseGit. Everything worked fine and the files show up correctly at the remote.
But in the Windows Explorer I was missing the overlay icons for the files as well as for the subfolder.
I started playing around. When I changed a file, the red overlay icon appeared. And it stayed there even after refreshing the explorer view. When reverting it back, the file got its green overlay icon. But when refreshing the explorer view or navigating around, the green icon disappeared.
So as the overlay icons are generally working (for all other files in all my repositories as well as sometimes for the files in question) it is not related to the typical icon overlay issue with too many programs claiming them as in [1].
I clone a new copy of my repo. All files are there and the icons work as they should.
I also checked the casing of my file names and folders as suggested by [2]. I did not spot any issues there.
I dug around more and tried the two answers [3] and [4] to a similar question. [3] did have no effect. Surprisingly [4] worked as long as the parent directory was renamed. As soon as I changed the name back to the original name I was back to the original non working behavior.
So here I am, without any clue what this could be. I know I could solve my problem with a new clone or with renaming of the folder. But I would like to understand the root cause. Because either I did something wrong in my process and probably should change it, or there is a bug in TortoiseGit, TGitCache or something like that, which maybe could be fixed.
Thanks for your help in advance.

TortoiseGit missing icon overlay for only files

Running into an odd issue where icon overlays for cloned repos are displayed on all folders but missing on the files. There's currently 9 tortoise and 8 one drive entries in the ShellIconOverlayIdentifiers in regedit but the tortoise ones are all at the top, having a " " at the start of each name.
I had seen that too many entries would cause the icons not to display, but since I still see the overlays on folders I was hesitant to start deleting items from the registry. Is this the same issue or could there be some other factor is icons are still partially working?
This looks as if the folder is excluded from status generation (i.e., show excluded folders as normal).
Please look at TortoiseGit settings and check Icon overlay settings (cf. https://tortoisegit.org/docs/tortoisegit/tgit-dug-settings.html#tgit-dug-settings-overlay)

Pasted folder replaced old one without asking in windows

Was hard to describe my problem in Title. Basically I opened zip archive, and dragged a map out of it to desktop. Then I realized, that I had a map with the same name on desktop with different content and windows just replaced the old map with new one, without asking.
What I want to know is if there is any place I can find the old map, that got replaced? Can't really find it and the content was really important.
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated, because I myself have this situation for the first time and could not describe the problem to google.
So again, what I did:
Opened zip archive.
Dragged one folder on desktop
The folder replaced an existing folder on desktop, which apparently had the same name.
SOLVED
The solution was quite simple, but I will leave this post up, if anyone else gets this kind of problem, or by mistake clicked replace folder.
At least in windows 10, you can press properties of the new folder and there preview previous versions of the folder. Then click open and you can get the contents back. Or just click restore for restoring the folder to previous version.

Issue with Xcode in Main.Storyboard

I've been working on a project the last few weeks in Xcode and everything's been great. Main.Storyboard all of a sudden, will not load or open. Other projects open fine. There hasn't been any significant changes in this project. The last thing I tried doing was adding a navigation bar to one of my view controllers, to add buttons or items. I also tried adding a navigation item. Things started to complicate after trying to do these things. I have the latest version of Xcode, my project settings are linked correctly and tried rebooting my Mac but it doesn't solve anything. Does anybody know what may have caused this error and how to resolve?
The easy way:
Check out the latest working version of the storyboard file and try the changes again. Likely something odd and transient happened that corrupted the existing storyboard file (I've seen it happen with managed object model files before which are also XML underneath).
If there are too many changes to redo them:
Make a copy of the current storyboard file outside the repo and then checkout the latest working version of the file from the repo.
Diff the two files moving over changes that make sense from the troublesome file keeping an eye out for balanced tags (i.e. if a view has an opening tag but no closing tag Xcode will get confused).
Try opening the modified storyboard in Xcode. With luck it will open and be fine. Otherwise you will need to do a bit more digging or go back to option one and redo the changes.
I downloaded your repo and I can open Main.storyboard just fine:

What is .DS_Store and why am I suspecting it has broken my web project?

I am working on a college assignment and am having a huge problem.
Everything was fine until I noticed a strange '.DS_Store' file in the main folder containing all my images, html, css and .js files.
Now my webpages look like this:
An old screen grab - I had just finished adding a custom sprite and tweaking a flexslider before this all happened:
I was trying to find some more information about this '.DS_Store' file. I can't find much online. Nor can I find any postings about similar problems. I did find this though but am hesitant to start deleting files from terminal.
However, I strongly suspect it has something to do with this '.DS_Store' file.
I have tried to solve this problem by:
Importing all images back into photoshop and saving to a new folder.
Importing all code and script to a pain-text editor and then back into Coda, Wrangler, Dreamweaver on Mac and Notepad++ on a Windows machine).
I am still getting the same effect when I try to view the pages in Chrome, IE, Mozilla - broken images and no formatting. Not compiling.
Does anyone know anything about this? I would HUGELY appreciate some information on how I can fix this.
.DS_STORE would not have broken your web project at all.
From wikipedia:
DS_Store files are automatically created by Mac OSX Finder in browsed directories. These files contain information about system configuration.
System configuration files would not affect your web project at all.
.DS_store is just a hidden file with info about the system. If you haven't touched it, there is probably another problem. Maybe you moved a folder? Made a typo? Added or removed code?

Issues importing xcode project from another computer

I have run into an incredibly frustrating issue. I wrote an iPhone app on one computer, and now I am trying to work on it on another computer. I zipped the project, and sent it to myself, but when I open it, it seems that none of the images came with it. When I was adding the images, I always checked the box to have the images get copied into my project. All the image files show up, but they are in red.
I tried fixing the path of one of the hundreds of images, and after doing that, the image appeared in the typical color scheme of xcode in my project. The problem was when I tried to run the code, xcode said it couldn't find the image I'd just imported.
Next, I deleted all the images, and tried importing them again. Once they were imported, they all turned red again.
Has anyone else run into this issue? Help!
In Finder go to where the actually code is, and see if it did in fact move the images into the project structure.
When the resources are red inside Xcode it means Xcode can not find them you can right click on them and see where it is expecting them to be located. You can also do this after you import images to make sure they are in the project structure.
Usually XCode folder structures have a "resources" folder off of the root of the source code, this is where you should put all images. I usually manually copy them in there, and then just import them into XCode from there.
