Xamarin Essentials Share does not have load option

My app backs up its data in a zip file that uses Share.RequestAsync to store the file. This works great because it presents all the possible sharing options including email, messaging, and cloud devices like Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.
In order to load that zip file from wherever it was stored I use FilePicker.PickAsync. The problem is that this presents a very limited number of options for selecting the file. It offers either the local device or a single cloud service (iCloud on iOS or Drive on Android). What if I want to restore the zip file from Drive in my app on my iPhone?
Why is there such a difference in the xamarin share options when it comes to saving and loading files? It seems like the Share class should offer a method to load files that presents the same options that it does for sharing. Or at least the FilePicker.PickAsync should present the same interface as Share.RequestAsync for load options. Am I missing something?
Here is what the share dialog looks like compared to the file picker on iOS. It is similar on Android. The share offers access to iCloud, Drive and Dropbox while the picker only offers access to iCloud.

codenameone downloading files/images visible to other apps

I note that other apps (testing on Android) like WhatsApp, etc have folders that contains images the user has used/downloaded. These folders (like WhatsAppImages) are visible in other apps (Gallery/File Explorers, etc) so you can use those files to share, delete, etc like any other file.
In my codenameone app I download image files but they cannot be seen anywhere on the local device. I understand that for security apps run in a sandbox and this may be why.
But how do these other apps make their downloaded files visible to the general file system and other apps ?
Many Thx
Codename One doesn't support that at this time but you can use native interfaces to add this as explained here for Android: How to save image in android gallery
and here for iOS: How can I save an image to the camera roll?
You can also file an RFE to add this either as a cn1lib or API.

Xamarin Device Manager only shows Google play images in device manager screen

I have observed the following in the new Xamarin Device Manager for VS 2017 (15.6.4).
If i try to create a new device i can only choose between system images for sdk versions where the Google Play image has been installed.
But if i edit the device profile that was the default and created with the google api's not the play ones, i can without any issue choose all the system images installed. So it seems the Xamarin Device manager only looks for Google play system images and not for the google apis ones.
So a workaorund for now would be to copy the "existing" 7.1 device profile and edit that.
Can someone confirm this issue ?
Image shows that only Android 7.0 and 8.0 can be selected and are installed
SDk Manager shows that several system images are installed not just the ones we are able to choose in the create new dialog.
If editing device profile that was based on Google APIs not Play all images can be used
You can switch Google Play/Google APIs/Default images via tag.id property in the editor.

Microsoft Player Framework not playing local files

I am developing a windows 8 app in winjs and one of its features is to be able to play local video files. So far I am using:
Windows.System.Launcher.launchFileAsync
Which works fine but obviously suspends the app and opens the video with their default video program. I would rather keep the user in the app so I tried to implement it using the Microsoft Player Framework(http://playerframework.codeplex.com/). I know the framework is referenced correctly etc because it can play video files both in the 'app data' directory and online.
However when I try to play files within a folder that the user has picked (with the folder picker) or the videos library that the app has declared access to, the video fails to play. The app can however change the name, create new files in the directory and delete files so I struggle to see a permissions problem.
To get the path of the file I am using getFileAsync( and using the path property and simply using that to set the src property of the MediaPlayer control.
Do any windows 8 app gurus have any suggestions as to why it is not working?
Thanks in advance
p.s. let me know if any further info is required

Using Cordova/Phonegap to save an image taken from the phone camera Windows Phone 7

I am using Visual Studio 2010 and the Windows Phone 7 Emulator in order to create an app which allows the user to take a photo and then save it into a folder on the file system and also create a reference of it on the database so as all of the images on the database can be displayed on the app. I can't however save the Image that is taken by the camera, I have spent ages looking through the Cordova docs and other websites. It looks as if I need the file location of the image taken by the camera but I cannot get the consol.log to open, I have been through my Registry Editor and I cannot get it to display. I would love an example which would show me how to get the camera image and either save it to localstorage or create a copy in order to save it into a folder.
Thanks in advance
Use FILE_URI for Camera.DestinationType option. It will make the image captured stored in the device's image gallery.
