Curious to know the differences on how Getdate() is working with respect to SSIS and SQL Server. Is it possible to get the implementation details/Code of Getdate() function for SSIS and SQL Server.

I'm new to SSRS but comfortable with basic Oracle SQL's.
I have some ssrs reports that run well on oracle v12 and now have to migrate db to oracle v19.
these reports have several oracle function that are used as dataset source. so on ssrs dataset, under 'query type' i select 'stored procedure' and enter function name with parameters and output. this approach was working well on old set up but in the new setup, it fails with oracle error:
An error has occured during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
Query execution failed for dataset 'region'. (rsErrorExecutingCommand)
ORA-06550: line1, column 7: PLS-00221: '<>' is not a procedure or is undefined ORA-06550:line1, column7: PL/SQL: statement ignored.
Some details:
the old versions: Oracle db v12, ssrs report builder v12, oracle client (TBC)
the new version: Oracle db v19, ssrs report builder v15, oracle client OLEDB
when i provide source as SQL query, the dataset works fine.
Could someone pls help on how to get over this error?
Have you called Oracle function from SSRS report?
Most of these function return 'refcursor', could this be an issue?

EDIT: I tried dataset source to a simple function GET_FUNC_TEST but that also fails with same error.
The issue was Oracle driver. OLEDB driver doesnt support refcursors. Once we installed oracle / odbc client, it was working smoothly.
When I execute the following SQL using TOAD against an Oracle 11g database, the fully formed XML is returned successfully:

However, when I execute the exact same SQL against our newly installed Oracle 12c database, some of the XML data appears to be missing (around 5000 characters).
I have discussed this with the DBA who reckons its a client issue rather than a database issue as he says there is no setting against the database that would cause this.
Has anyone got any advise on how I can progress this issue?
I raised a service request with Oracle and they came back to me and advised that there is a bug with the dbms_xmlgen.Convert function within Oracle 12.1 that was fixed in Oracle 12.2. Basically the function fails with XML greater than 120 KB.

We are using Visual Studio 2013 and have an SSIS package that we are creating. We have a simple Data Flow Task that essentially takes some data from SQL and Pushes through to an Access Database. It has three DFD flow items:
I have a OLE DB Source (obtains the SQL via a select statement) --> Data Conversion (Convert SQL Data Types to Access) --> OLE DB Destination (Access Database)
The steps selecting the SQL and converting it works fine.
The issue we have is the SQL command that we are using to update the Access 2010 database.
We have tried to run and create a simple UPDATE statement to update a couple of fields with hardcoded data, but this doesn't update. We have also tried creating a stored procedure and then executing this within the SQL Command line in the OLE Destination Editor.
We can see from posts on the net that we can create a procedure in access 2010 and use this. We are also using Native OLE DB\Microsoft Office 12.0 access Database Engine OLE DB Provider. This connection tests successfully.
We can write a SELECT statement within the SQL Command line and this does pull back data. We just seem to have a problem with the UPDATE and or Create Procedure. In turn we are unable to populate the Mappings. the mappings display the destination box but no fields are displayed within here.
We have had a good look around on the internet but we are struggling to find a solution.
Here is a sample of the code in the form of the update statement we are trying to get working.

After some time I have managed to answer this question myself.
I have added unique parameters to each field I need to update and used the # char to set this.
UPDATE ReferenceFields
INNER JOIN Addresses
ON ReferenceFields.ID = Addresses.ID
SET ReferenceFields.Reference2 = #CustomerName,
ReferenceFields.Reference3 = #telephone
WHERE UPRN = #UPRN
This runs through the code and updates the MS Access database.
I have a GIS oracle database and I am needing to reference in a SSIS dataflow task. Ideally I would normally do something like this (which works perfectly in Oracle SQL Developer):
execute sde.version_util.set_current_version('SAFE.mvedits')
SELECT CAD_EVENTID
FROM SAFE.INCIDENT_POINT_MV
however when I try to use that as the SQL command of my OLE DB Datasource it throws me an "Invalid SQL" error.
How do I set the SDE version in a SSIS dataflow task data source?
Knowing nothing of nothing on Oracle, what you might try is
In your Oracle Connection Manager, change the property RetainSameConnection to True. This means that all connections will Oracle will use the same thread.
Add an Execute SQL Task before your Data Flow that talks to Oracle. Use your query there to modify the current version thing. This setting should be persisted on the connection.
In your OLE DB Datasource, start with the SELECT statement.
You might need to set DelayValidation to true as well.
If that's not working, let me know and I'll see if I can come up with anything else.
As it turns out this is a shortfall of interacting with GIS Oracle databases through thirdparty applications. In my situation we addressed it by just bundling the change up in a stored procedure that lives on the oracle server and invoking that stored procedure from inside SSIS.
I have a Desktop application that uses Linq To SQL as the DAL. It accesses a local SQL Express DB.
If I have a SQL CE DB that has the Exact same schema(table structure) can I re-use the generated dbml with just giving it a different connection string?
This article on LINQ To SQL on SQL CE from Matt Manela suggests that you could replace your SQL Server Express connection string with a connection string to SQL Server CE without any large issues. If it's just table-level querying that you're interested in, it sounds like you'll be in good shape.
He points out though, that CE handles connections differently than the larger SQL Server editions.
Without having tested it myself, I'd only want to determine if LINQ To SQL would ever generate any TSQL statements using keywords or features that SQL CE didn't support.
Also note, the current release does not support stored procedures or the XML datatype. It uses a subset of TSQL.
