ElasticSearch bootstrap checks failed error for version 7.16.0 - elasticsearch

I initially installed 7.16.0 elastisearch and later updated it to 7.16.2.
Now i am downgrading it back to 7.16.0. But i keep getting the below error whenever I run the docker image.
ERROR: [1] bootstrap checks failed. You must address the points described in the following [1] lines before starting Elasticsearch.
bootstrap check failure [1] of [1]: the default discovery settings are unsuitable for production use; at least one of [discovery.seed_hosts, discovery.seed_providers, cluster.initial_master_nodes] must be configured
All the solutions for this error points to Linux OS but I am working on Windows OS.
Could anyone please help me resolve this?

DataHub installation on Minikube failing: "no matches for kind "PodDisruptionBudget" in version "policy/v1beta1"" on elasticsearch setup

Im following the deployement guide of DataHub with Kubernetes present on the documentation: https://datahubproject.io/docs/deploy/kubernetes
Settin up the local clusten with Minikube I've started following the prerequisites session of the guide.
At first I tried to change some of the default values to try it locally (I've already installed it sucessfully on Google Kubernetes Engine, so I was trying different set ups)
But on the first step of the installation I've received the error:
Error: INSTALLATION FAILED: unable to build kubernetes objects from release manifest: resource mapping not found for name: "elasticsearch-master-pdb" namespace: "" from "": no matches for kind "PodDisruptionBudget" in version "policy/v1beta1"
ensure CRDs are installed first
The steps I've followed after installing Minikube where the exact steps presented on the page:
helm repo add datahub https://helm.datahubproject.io/
helm install prerequisites datahub/datahub-prerequisites
With the error happening on step 2
At first I've changed to the default configuration to see if it wasnt a mistake on the new values, but the error remained.
Ive expected that after followint the exact default steps the installation would be successfull locally, just like it was on the GKE
I got help browsing the DataHub slack community and figured out a way to fix this error.
It was simply a matter of a version error with Kubernetes, I was able to fix it by forcing minikube to start with the 1.19.0 version of Kubernetes:
minikube start --kubernetes-version=v1.19.0

Can't pass path of my ES config file from the command line

Maybe I am thick, but I can't seem to find a way to pass ES a config file path from the command line. I have been searching and reading for 45 mins now (including several posts on Stack Overflow), and none of the proposed solutions works.
Here are the ones I tried:
elasticsearch -Des.config=/path/to/my/elasticsearch.yml
==> ERROR: D is not a recognized option
elasticsearch -Ees.config=/path/to/my/elasticsearch.yml
==> org.elasticsearch.bootstrap.StartupException: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: unknown setting [es.config] please check that any required plugins are installed, or check the breaking changes documentation for removed settings
elasticsearch -Econfig=/path/to/my/config.yml
==> org.elasticsearch.bootstrap.StartupException: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: unknown setting [config] please check that any required plugins are installed, or check the breaking changes documentation for removed settings
elasticsearch -Epath.conf=/path/to/config/dir/with/elasticsearch.yml
==> No exception, but the program terminates without any output whatsoever (no error message). Since I didn't specify the -d option, I am assuming that it's not running as a daemon and that therefore, the ES server is not running by the end of that.
Can anyone pull me out of the mud here?

I too struggled with the same issue and tried the same sort of commands as you did. The problem here is caused due to the version of elastic search.
If your version is above 5.0.0 and as per this none of the above commands will work. Also it looks like they have limited the types of parameters that can be passed from the command line.
The easiest way is to just cd to the directory you installed elasticsearch and then just ./bin/elasticsearch (Make sure you don't execute it as root, it doesn't allow you to run as root.)
The issue here is that after every new version of ES, some older functionality gets removed/updated which is frustrating. I'm currently working with Elasticsearch v6.4.0 and as for now this works.

Unable to disable Google Analytics via Spring to address DS-2718 (failed GA connections prevent file downloads) when building DSpace 5.3 with Mirage 2

I'm working on a fresh installation of stock DSpace 5.3 (Windows Server 2012, Tomcat 8.0, Maven 3.2.5, Ant 1.9.6). This particular instance will be a dark archive without Google Analytics enabled; we don't currently have a GA account or analytics key, although we plan to register one eventually for a separate public-facing instance.
As per the problem described in JIRA ticket DS-2718, DSpace hangs with the following message in dspace.log when I attempt to download a bitstream:

Since we won't be using GA on this instance, disabling it in Spring is a good workaround until the issue is resolved. As per the instructions, I commented out the Google Analytics entry in dspace-5.3-src-release\dspace-xmlui\src\main\webapp\WEB-INF\spring\applicationContext.xml, disabled Tomcat and rebuilt DSpace. An initial attempt running mvn package -Dmirage2.on=true still produced the problem, so I tried a "ground up" rebuild:
cd d:\dspace-5.3-src-release\dspace
mvn clean package -U -Dmirage2.on=true
[successful build]
cd d:\dspace-5.3-src-release\dspace\target\dspace-installer
ant update
[successful update]
[copy webapps to Tomcat 8.0\webapps and start Tomcat]
Even after the rebuild, however, I'm still getting the same error, with the same java.net.SocketException in dspace.log.
Not sure why this isn't working. Have I missed a step or setting in the rebuild process so that the change to applicationContext.xml isn't being applied?
FWIW, I tried grepping for "google" in dspace-5.3-src-release\dspace-xmlui-mirage2 to see if this could be a Mirage 2 problem, but I don't see anything that looks relevant.
This isn't an answer to why you're still seeing the SocketException, but the real fix for the problem you're describing is to remove the default GA key from dspace-services/src/main/resources/config/dspace-defaults.cfg, see https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/commit/5b84fef1ad789443d06c338558a92f854b20c8ef. Have you tried doing that?
The issue resolved itself after I ran mvn clean -Dmirage2.on=true in both [dspace-src] and [dspace-src]\dspace. I'm guessing that the issue originated on our end due to someone running a maven build from the wrong directory.
I've also removed the default key from dspace-defaults.cfg as suggested. Everything's now working.

Elasticsearch server stops due to java.io.IOException break

I am facing problems with Elasticsearch.
I am unable to get the results. I checked in log files i got the following error:

Below are the version I am using:
elastic search version: 0.90.5
java version: 1.6.0_33 64 bit

The strange thing is that, whenever I am getting this error, I restart the elastic search server and its works.
So I think something is getting overloaded.
Based on seeing the Runtime.getRuntime().exec() call, it could be related to a dynamic scripting vulnerability in the defaults of elastic search prior to version 1.2. See this document on scripting security.
If that is the source of your problem, you can put in a fix in your current version (or upgrade to a newer version). From the link above:
If you are running an Elasticsearch node prior to the 1.2.x release,
you can make this change on your system by putting the following
setting into elasticsearch.yml:
script.disable_dynamic: true
Then restart each node in your cluster. Dynamic scripting will now be
disabled. If you are running Elasticsearch 1.2.x or later, dynamic
scripting is already disabled by default.

starting cassandra on windows 7 error the system can not find the path specified

I have tried to get cassandra working on windows 7. I followed the instructions from:

I have double checked the steps of creating the folders and changing the yaml file but always get the message after running cassandra.bat:
Starting Cassandra Server
The System cannot find the Path Specified
I can not find which path exactly, any tips?
Cassandra will fail to start with no logs if the values in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Apache Software Foundation\Procrun 2.0\cassandra\Parameters\Java are not correct.
For example, if the Jvm REG_SZ value is not pointing to the correct path for jvm.dll you will get a System event log Error with
"The cassandra service terminated with the following service-specific error: Incorrect function".
You can find where java is with >echo %JAVA_HOME%
To any future Googlers, in my case the issue was that Cassandra had created the service using the 32-bit version of prunsrv.exe. To fix it, I manually replaced the 32-bit version with the 64-bit version (found inside the amd64 folder).
