What defines an unknown source in Android Auto - android-auto

Currently,
My team and I are developping an Android Auto enabled app. And it appears to me this app is only available in my car unit, when I enable unknown sources in the Android Auto app.
However I'm wondering what defines an unknown source and how do I make sure my app is not an unknown source. Does Android Auto communicate with the Google Play Services for this or do i need to sign the APK with specific data?

How are you deploying your app? If you are deploying with Android Studio: as I recall you won't see it on your real automotive head unit, just the emulator. To show on the head unit it needs to be deployed in the Play Store, at least in developer and pre-release mode while under development.

First of all: Android Auto runs on your own device, meaning it adapts the same permissions you granted to particular apps. If your app doesn't have an app in the normal UI or you didn't open it on your phone once, then it would usually prompt you to grant permissions the first time you open it.
An unknown source is pretty much any way of getting your app outside of the Google Play Store (and OEM-specific app stores like Samsung App Store for Samsung devices etc.).
That is especially common if you e.g. download an .apk from the internet and want to install it, but your phone thinks their own file manager is an unknown source (because it is not intended to download apps).

Using DJI SDK offline

I am starting to get used to Android DJI Mobile SKD... Even successfully got DJI FPV sample code running on my Phantom 4 Pro+ GL300E screen (SDK 22).
My problem: it seems that an app using the SDK has to get the internet connection to be able to register to DJI before doing anything.
Such process apparently doesn't happen only once, but occurs every time I run my application.
My need: I should be able to use my UAV in the countryside, without any internet connection of course: will I be able to use a DJI-SDK based application in such conditions?
You only need to register the SDK once via internet. After the first successful registration, the app remembers it and you can use your app on offline mode. You will however need to activate it again if you make a clean installation.
Btw:
You don't need to have a SIM inserted to use your App.
You don't need to login to your DJI account to use your App.
The SDK seems to connect to the internet on it's own from time to time. The purpose is unknown to me but I guess it's e.g. to retrieve updates for the flySafe Database (FlyZoneManager).
To ensure the SDK does not connect to the internet apart from app activation you can additionally use the LocalDataManager (LDMManager) accessible from the DJISDKManager:

not able to add .ipa file in iphone device

i have generated the .ipa file and trying to add in any iphone device but its not adding.
the error is showing like:- couldnot install(in xcode).
i tried with apple configurator 2:- in this scenario app is installing a bit just assume
75% and after that the app icon is getting grayed out and clicking on that app is giving
popup as :- could not install please try later.
somewhere i saw that you have to allow from your device to trust this app, location is like :- settings > general > profile&management > you will find your profile here for new app installing.i didn't get any profile there.

i am using free developer account and created the xamarin app from windows and building it through mac, the xcode version is 9.4 beta and i also tried to override with xcode version 11.3.
i am not getting whether i am missing something or messed up with xcode versioning.

If using a free apple developer account , you can not install a .ipa file to iOS Device .This is limited by Apple.
About IPA Support in Xamarin.iOS , you will see there are two uses as follow :
Ad Hoc Testing — An iOS application can be deployed to up to 100 users (identified by specific iOS device UUIDs) for Alpha and Beta testing purposes. See our Provisioning an iOS Device for Development documentation for detailed information on adding test iOS devices to your Apple developer account, and the Ad-Hoc guide, for more information on how to distribute in this way.
In House / Enterprise Deployment — An iOS application can be deployed internally, within a company, which requires membership of Apple's Developer Enterprise program. More information on In House Distribution is detailed in the In House Distribution guide.
In either case, an IPA package (a special type of zip file) must be created and digitally signed with the correct Distribution Provisioning Profile.
If using a free provisioning , there is a Limitation as follow :
Access to iTunes Connect is limited and therefore services such as publishing to the App Store and TestFlight are unavailable to developers provisioning their applications freely. An Apple Developer Account (Enterprise or Personal) is required to distribute via Ad Hoc and In-House means.
Therefore , if need to add .ipa file in iphone device , you should use a paid Apple Developer Program account.

Can I distribute\install a copy of the UWP project to a different Windows 10 desktop system?

VS 2015, Xamarin Forms, PCL.
I can attach my Android phone by cable, and install to it. I can run "Local Machine" on my windows 10 development machine and test there. I want to give a copy of the UWP project to someone else to test with (on Windows 10 desktop). This is a new application, not in any stores, so...how to do this? Can it be done without using store distribution, and if so, can someone tell me how to do this, or point me to a link that documents this?
You could create package (like for publishing to store) and then with PowerShell install it on another PC. Packaging UWP apps
You can limit the distribution of an app to only a certain group of testers, without first publishing a submission that's broadly available, you can use the same app submission process as any app you submit. Desktop App Converter/Submit to Windows Store

I have an older application that I've converted using Microsoft's "Desktop App Converter" to create a UWP application. The application appears to convert fine, and I can install and run it on my local machine. Unfortunately, when I try to submit the application to the Windows App Store, I get the following errors:
Package acceptance validation error: We don't allow the capability you've specified: runFullTrust.
Package acceptance validation error: You don't have permissions to specify the following namespaces in the appx manifest file of the package DownloadManager.appx: http://schemas.microsoft.com/appx/manifest/foundation/windows10/restrictedcapabilities.
Are there any ideas what is causing this and what the fix is?

According to this article from the official blog, you cannot submit your Centennial apps to the Store just yet. You have to follow the process they mention in their article:

Xcode App Distribution to Friends

Yesterday I saw a Website of a Company which has a test version of their iPhone App downloadable for everybody from their website.
Since I am an Apple Developer, I know that you need the UDID of the target device to declare it as a test device, because you have to code sign it to the device.
When I have downloaded the file, it was a normal App file from Xcode. I dragged it to iTunes and from there to my Device, and what do you suppose happened?
Yes; it worked on my Device!! ;-)
I have not jail-broken my device and the app Works on any device I have tried it on without add the devices to any Developer Account...
Does anybody know how to do this???
How can I distribute an app to any device by email or web download without adding test device UDIDs to my account to work on any phone???

The company could either have distributed it as a source code (which can be run by anyone with a developer's account) or by a link to the app store
You can either do one of two things to distribute an app Adhoc:
1 . As a normal App developer you add devices UDIDs separately to the developer portal.
or
2 . Create a company Adhoc developer's account (which costs extra money and DOESN'T allow you to post to the app store (but that also requires UDIDs))
Alternatively you can post it on the app store and distribute it via that method.
Due to code signing only jailbroken devices may run unsigned apps (or apps not signed for them)
I'd love to know how they do that. I do the next best thing: I use testflightapp.com to distribute my apps. It does require UDIDs but easily collects them, and deployment to those users is one touch after building/uploading. There is also a feedback API that I find quite handy.
