I installed
$ gem install jekyll-feed jekyll-seo-tag
for my user but they do not appear in $GEM_HOME/bin:
$ ls $GEM_HOME/bin
bundle bundler jekyll
What could go wrong?

I'm just trying to use bundler 2.3.25 to bundle my gems. And I currently have Ruby 2.7.0
And I've uninstalled Bundler version 2.4.5
When I ask for the version of bundler I have installed, I get different results which is causing issues.
Currently my Gemfile.lock file is bundled with 2.4.5 - which is not installed
When I do bundle show I get * bundler (2.4.5) - again, not installed
When I do bundle -v I get Bundler version 2.4.5 finally, yep still not installed
When I do bundle _2.3.25_ -v it returns Bundler version 2.4.5
But when I do gem list bundler I get bundler (default: 2.3.25)
gem list bundle -d returns bundler (2.3.25)
When I delete my lock file and then do bundle _2.3.25_ install to re-generate the lock file, its bundled with 2.4.5
I've gone as far as to delete the file from
\\wsl$\Ubuntu\home\me\.rbenv\versions\2.7.0\lib\ruby\gems\2.7.0\gems\bundler-2.4.5
I do use rbenv and I wonder if that is forcing the issue, but I'm not sure.
When I run gem update --system I get:
Latest version already installed. Done.
When I bundle exec rake -P I get:
Gem::GemNotFoundException: can't find gem bundler (= 2.4.5) with executable bundle
I found this and ran it: which bundle
And it returned:
/home/todd/.rbenv/shims/bundle
I also ran this: eval "$(rbenv init -)" and it didn't do jack didly.
I am using ruby 2.6.5 and I try to install bundler -v 2.2.27 gem according to documentation using this command:
gem install bundler -v 2.2.27 --default
And this is the output I get:
gem install bundler -v 2.2.27 --default
Successfully installed bundler-2.2.27 as a default gem
ERROR: While executing gem ... (Errno::ENOENT)
No such file or directory # dir_chdir - /Users/jedrek/.rvm/gems/ruby-2.6.5/specifications/gems/bundler-2.2.27
It says it installed the gem but errors out at the same time :)
When I check current version of bundler I get this output
gem info bundler
*** LOCAL GEMS ***

(2.2.27, default): /Users/jedrek/.rvm/rubies/ruby-2.6.5/lib/ruby/gems/2.6.0
(2.2.24): /Users/jedrek/.rvm/gems/ruby-2.6.5
(2.1.4): /Users/jedrek/.rvm/gems/ruby-2.6.5
As you can see it says that bundler -v 2.2.27 is installed.
When I try to install dependencies in my project I get this error:
bundle install
Resolving dependencies...
Bundler could not find compatible versions for gem "bundler":
In Gemfile:
bundler (~> 2.2.27)
Current Bundler version:
bundler (2.1.4)
This Gemfile requires a different version of Bundler.
Perhaps you need to update Bundler by running `gem install bundler`?
Could not find gem 'bundler (~> 2.2.27)' in any of the relevant sources:
the local ruby installation
Listing current bundler version locally shows this output
gem list bundler
*** LOCAL GEMS ***

bundler-audit (0.7.0.1, 0.6.1)
capistrano-bundler (2.0.1, 1.3.0)
I am so confused. Is this is a bug?
I am using rubygems 3.2.27
gem --version
3.2.27
UPDATE
I tried upgrading rubygems to 3.2.32 and have the same issue.
when I use this command to run fastlane:
bundle exec fastlane beta
shows error:
~/Documents/GitHub/cruise-open/ios on main! ⌚ 14:59:47
$ bundle exec fastlane beta ‹ruby-3.0.0›
Could not find gem 'xcode-install' in any of the gem sources listed in your Gemfile or in gems cached in vendor/cache.
Run `bundle install` to install missing gems.
(base)
then I install xcode-install like this:
$ gem install xcode-install ‹ruby-3.0.0›
Fetching xcode-install-2.6.8.gem
Successfully installed xcode-install-2.6.8
Parsing documentation for xcode-install-2.6.8
Installing ri documentation for xcode-install-2.6.8
Done installing documentation for xcode-install after 0 seconds
1 gem installed
(base)
still not fix this problem. what should I do to fix it?
In your Gemfile you need to add this line:
gem "xcode-install"
Right after
gem "fastlane"
And run fastlane command again.
Jekyll's document says,
If you’re interested in browsing these docs on-the-go, install the
jekyll-docs gem and run jekyll docs in your terminal.
When I tried to install jekyll-docs on my MacBook Air running macOS Sierra, I bumped into the following problem:
sunqingyaos-MacBook-Air:myblog sunqingyao$ jekyll docs
You must install the 'jekyll-docs' gem to use the 'jekyll docs' command.
sunqingyaos-MacBook-Air:myblog sunqingyao$ sudo gem install jekyll-docs

sunqingyaos-MacBook-Air:myblog sunqingyao$
As you can see, rubygems told me it has successfully installed jekyll-docs-3.3.0, while jekyll docs kept falling. I've restarted the terminal, still not working.
Had the same issue.
In my case I had two jekyll gems:
sergpank$ gem list jekyll
*** LOCAL GEMS ***
jekyll (3.4.0, 3.3.1)
jekyll-docs (3.3.1)
jekyll-feed (0.8.0)
jekyll-sass-converter (1.5.0)
jekyll-watch (1.5.0)
I have simply uninstalled 3.4.0 (because there was no jekyll-docs-3.4.0):
sergpank$ gem uninstall jekyll -v 3.4.0
Successfully uninstalled jekyll-3.4.0
---------------------------------------
sergpank$ gem list jekyll
*** LOCAL GEMS ***
jekyll (3.3.1)
jekyll-docs (3.3.1)
jekyll-feed (0.8.0)
jekyll-sass-converter (1.5.0)
jekyll-watch (1.5.0)
After what jekyll docs was successfully started!
I was trying to install bundler in Linux Mint.
but I'm getting this error
$ gem install bundler
ERROR: Could not find a valid gem 'bundler' (>= > 0) in any repository
Tried to do
$ gem update --system
but this is not permitted in Debian based systems.
what to do??
Run
gem sources -a http://rubygems.org
Then run gem install
