Security department of my company said to our application team, "your application have to use sqls to connect your database."
SSL is integrated into our application but our database has not certificate.
On the other hand, we use below connection string to connect DB;
spring.foo.datasource.jdbcUrl=jdbc:oracle:thin:#//10.126.1.12:1521/foo
What kind of releation between jdbc:oracle:this between sqls?
What does it mean "your application have to use sqls to connect your
database."?
What should we do?
Please help...
Thanks.
Step by step solution
1.Create certificate for DB type.
2.Create private key
3.Integrate certificate into DB server.

I have developed a c# windows application which uses SQL server 2012 database in Visual Studio 2015 which is running well on my pc.
I am to install this application on a number of computers without SQL server installed on it, but when I run the application, its gives me database connection error.
My question is, how can I create the setup file to be able to run the app on those clients pc without installing SQL server on all those computers. Please I need your help.
Thank you.
Am Emmanuel.
Use an Azure database and have the clients connect to that.
Have a look at https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/services/sql-database/
Alter your application connection string and make sure you keep the connection string secret.
Server=tcp:myserver.database.windows.net,1433;Database=myDataBase;User ID=mylogin#myserver;Password=myPassword;Trusted_Connection=False;Encrypt=True;MultipleActiveResultSets=True;
An important fact is that the clients need to allow communication via port 1433.
If this is not an option create an API application and query the database via that.
If you need a private database per client you can use a database file and connect to the file

Update based on reply
You can create a pop-up on the application allowing the users to add valid settings and credentials when your appsettings.json is blank or "a test connect" to the database fails.
I have a database Connection established in odbcad and Microsoft Access (aswell as working in Excel) via ODBC and want to also get it working in Oracle SQL developer.
It is a Windows SQL Server as far as i know and I have tried several Settings, of which None works. I have also installed Driver for ODBC. I would like to Import Settings into SQL developer as applied in MS Access, is there any possibility?
No, SQL Developer is a Java application and uses a JDBC driver.
But if you look at the odbc properties for your connection, those should largely translate to what you need to define a basic connection.
Oracle:
Server name or IP address of the DB, port # for the listener, and the name of the SID or Service, plus a valid username and password is all you need to connect to Oracle.
What error do you get when you try to connect?
Show us what you're trying.
Update:
You're trying to connect to SQL Server but you're getting"
Native SSPI library not loaded
You're trying to use OS Authentication for your connection. For this to work with the jTDS driver, you need to copy a DLL file named ntlmauth.dll (which is for NT authentication) under the jtds-x.x.x-dist\x86\SSO\ or jtds-x.x.x-dist\x64\SSO\, to any directories in the PATH environment.
Please update your question such that's it's clear you're connecting to SQL Server and share the error message so others can find it.
I imagine this question is a duplicate of many previous iterations of the same challenge.
I have already installed sqldeveloper and i can launch SQLdeveloper client on my Linux Ubuntu 16.04 system.
The problem occurs during the first attempt of the new oracle connection from the client.
Error returned:
"I/O: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection"
I have already tryed several times to connect at the database but i still missing the username and password.
Is it possible to configure username and password for SYS/SYSTEM(or who else) user after installation?
Full stop.
You don't have a database.
Installing SQL Developer is just giving you a client you can use to work with an existing Oracle Database, which we often refer to as the 'server.'
SQL Developer is not a database.
So you need to get one.
Then you can use SQL Developer.
You have a few options. I talk about them in detail here.
SQL developer is just like the Key for Safe lock. And Database is the Safe.
So right now you have the key for Safe but doesn't have Safe.
Please get the safe first.
SQL Developer is not the Database. So Installing SQL developer will not give access to DB
Instead SQL Developer is the client side tool to retrieve the data or to do the modification on Database.
To get the database you need to download oracle DB from below link
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/oracle12c-windows-3633015.html
I'm wanting to connect to an Azure SQL Server from jdbc.
I copy the connection string from the azure management console. It is something like:
jdbc:sqlserver://XXXX.database.windows.net:1433;database=YYYY;user=ZZZZZ#XXXX;password=PPPPPPPPPPP;encrypt=true;hostNameInCertificate=*.database.windows.net
When I try and connect with this value I get the following error:
com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: The driver could not
establish a secure connection to SQL Server by using Secure Sockets
Layer (SSL) encryption. Error:
"java.security.cert.CertificateException: Failed to validate the
server name in a certificate during Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)
initialization. The server name is *.database.windows.net, the name in
certificate is data.am2-1.database.windows.net.
Then if I change the *.database.windows.net to data.am2-1.database.windows.net as it says in the exception it works fine.
So is it a problem to set this name? I feel like if it is a wild card as default then it is probably going to change? and when it does I assume I won't be able to connect anymore.
Has anyone else had this issue? I am using the most up to date jdbc drivers for SQL Server that I could find.
Turns out an upgrade of the sql server jdbc version to version 4.0 cleaned up the issue.
I've got the same issue on JDBC driver version 4.1, downgrading to 4.0 resolved issue
You can also add trustServerCertificate=true in your connection string, but it's not recommended from a security perspective.
I followed the link http://mobileworld.appamundi.com/blogs/andywigley/archive/2008/12/08/building-a-sync-services-for-ado-net-solution-for-mobile-devices.aspx
and was able to sync DB.
Problem is that it is only for static connection string and Server IP where SQL server DB is located which i provided through designer wizard.
now i want to change the connection string and Server IP as provided in some file.So that user can change the Server DB location and synchronize.I don't know how to proceed. Please Help
In the tutorial the MiddleTierServiceLibrary project has an App.Config file with the DB connection string. You can set the DB connection there.
