Dynamic Date Selection Tableau - filter

Here is a sample data that I am working with. I want to make it more dynamic. Meaning, if a user selects a date, I need to display the 7 day, 14 day change based on the selected date. I have created a parameter with the date filter and also created a formula for 7 day change like this : LOOKUP(SUM([Sample]),-7) and LOOKUP(SUM([Sample]),-14)
I tried using these formulas, but it wont work when I filter to a particular date. Any help is appreciated.
Date Sample
7/1/22 491,556
7/2/22 74,027
7/3/22 65,938
7/4/22 74,099
7/5/22 636,580
7/6/22 508,986
7/7/22 630,481
7/8/22 495,756
7/9/22 71,503
7/10/22 64,875
7/11/22 73,174
7/12/22 642,674
7/13/22 517,709
7/14/22 638,848
7/15/22 490,698
7/16/22 68,802

Can I generate the number of business days in a month in Visual Studio?

I have a report that takes sales data from a few tables. I want to add a field that will divide the total sales for the given month by the total number of business days in that same month. Is there a way I can calculate that in an expression? Do I need to create a new table in the database specifically for months and their number of business days? How should I go about this?
Thank you
Intuitively, I would say that you need a simple function and a table.
The table is to host the exceptions like Independence day, labor day, etc.
The function will get two parameters: Month and Year (I'm not providing any sample code since you haven't specified which language you are using).
It will then build a date as yyyy-mm-01 (meaning, first day of the month). If will then loop from 2 to 31 and:
Create a new date by adding the index of the loop to the initial date,
Check if the resulting date is still within the month,
Check if it is a working or not working day (e.g. Sunday),
Check if it is found within the table of exceptions.
If the created date passes all the above tests, you add 1 to the counter.
Though it might look complex, it is not and it will provide you the correct answer regardless of the month (e.g. Feb.) and the year (leap or not).

Filter by date in Qlik Cloud

I have sheet in Qlik Cloud, where I have dataset from whole month. I would like to filter this dataset by date or time - 1 day, 1 week, 12 hours... column with date/time in format yyyy/mm/dd hh:mm:ss is in dataset for each row. Is possible insert some calendar? Or have you any idea?
Thanks for your answers ;)
Provided that your data is loaded correctly, drag the field directly onto the sheet. This will create a look-up box that can be searched.
You can see if the field has been identified correctly as a date as it will appear like this on the field selector
Another Option
Create a filter box option and add your date field to it, the benefit of this is that you can have multiple filters in one place. Allowing users to pick the part of the date relevant to them. For example showing the year field, the month field and the date field in one
one more option
Using non-standard Qlik extensions you can achieve the functionality that you require. SenseDateRangePicker is an extension that provides extended date selection functionality.

Visual Studio Report Designer: I don't understand group filters

I'm writing a report that has proposal information by estimator per month. So I created a matrix where each row is grouped by estimator and each column is grouped by the month.
The thing is, my query includes data for this year AND last year, but the columns by month should only contain this year's information. So I though simple, I'll create a filter: Year(variable_date) = Year(Today()).
When I do this, no record information shows up. But then I changed the column to group by month AND year and suddenly, it works. Only 2015 records show up in the calculations per month.
Why did I need to group it by month AND year? Why couldn't I just group by month and have the filter remove records that didn't have the correct year using the filter group property tab?
Thanks!
P.S. I hope I have the tags right...
It sounds like month and year are separate fields. So when you group only by month it is grouping all of the rows where the value for that field is the same. (Month=8 exists in 2014 and 2015.) The values are just numbers to SSRS and it doesn't know it needs to look at the year field too unless you tell it to.

Oracle SQL Output to Excel - Date format issue

I ran an SQL Query for Oracle which consists of Invoice date and Check date. When these data are copied on to an Excel Spreadsheet as text, it's dispayed as ex: "13-10-31" (Oct 31, 2013). However, when converted to date format, it's displayed as "10/13/1931". I've tried different date types but it always recognizes as the first part of the text as the day, then month, then year. I need these values to be setup as a date format as I need to calculate Days Payable Outstanding and other related ratios.
Is there any way to convert these values so that Excel recognizes the day, month, and year correctly? Would there be a macro that could automate this process for existing data and data that will be added in the future?
Thank you in advance.
Firstly, I hope the data type of your date column is DATE.
Secondly, the date should always have year as YYYY and not just YY. The world has already learned from Y2K bug.
If above two points are met, then while displaying use to_char(date_column, 'mm/dd/yyyy'). Thus, with YYYY format, there won't be any confusion between year and other fields.

SSRS how to show only month/year as a parameter using/customizing calendar control

I use SSRS 2005.I currently have two datetime parameters (for start and end dates) as parameters for my report. I get the default calendar controls to select the dates.
I want to show only month and year in the calendar control which can be selected by user. Is that possible?
I can create two text fields and let user enter month & year in each text field and i've two validate these two text fields. I dont want to do this because needs typing into the fields.
OR
I can create four dropdown lists for start month, start year and end month and end year with values but this involves clicking/scrolling a bit more. Dont want to do this either.
Can somebody suggest a solution?
Thank you
Bo
This cannot be done using the calendar control.
You can either use the calendar control ignoring the day or implement one of the other two solutions you mentioned.
In case of combobox, you can use select distinct month/year from your data to fill values.
To make this less annoying for your user's to run the report, default your month/year from/to values to these that usually the user selects to run the report.
Personally I would prefer textboxes with default values
eg. If user runs the report for current year from January to current month then the defaults would be
Month from: = 1
Month to: = Datepart("m", Now())
Year from, Year to: = Datepart("yyyy", Now())
