Today I saw a video on the internet about customizing the XFCE desktop environment (video link:https://youtu.be/uvvoJU69uNo?t=1215). In the video, the launcpad area in the MacOS operating system was imitated using Rofi Launcher. I also downloaded and installed Rofi, but the interface that appeared when I ran it was much different. So I started messing around with Rofi's files and found an area where we could set the theme. When I try to try other themes, I get the error No such file or directory. How do I open this issue? I use Linux Mint 21.1.
Screenshots:
launchpad, the only theme that comes by default and works:

The error I get in other themes:

I was trying to emulate the MacOS Launchpad app using rofi launcher. But what I got in the end was much different and worse. What I expected was something like the video I linked.

I just installed Virtual BOX to run linux labs. I am running into the issue, when I download Ubuntu or Kali .ISO or .OVA file extensions these files appear as if they were PDF files - so VM does not recognize them. Any suggestions towards correcting this scenario is appreciated.
View of a .OVA download
I am not sure about .ova files but you can try downloading the Ubuntu ISO file from here.
Also, are you correctly using the ISO file in Virtual box by going to the VM -> Settings -> Storage and then clicking on the disk icon besides controller, that should open the file explorer and give you the option to add the ISO file.
Sorry I can't use comments just yet, (which is where I think this should be) however, if you're using windows 10, there's Windows Subsystem for Linux, or WSL for short. Its extremely simple to install and may be able to accomplish your needs. Lots of great features if you have the latest dev build of windows 10 like reading ext4 filesystem's and making them available to windows.
As for the original issue, I'm not sure I 100% understand what you mean by opening them as PDFs, but it sounds like maybe its a matter of changing the default program for those file extensions in your windows settings. Have you tried right click->open with on the files in question ?
Had not seen the picture at first... Yes this is a default program issue. You can do as I suggested with right click, or go to settings->Apps->default Apps->choose default apps by file type

I cannot display the drop-doown-menus of any KDE applications like kile, okular texmaker. However, I can click on the menus, but it does not show all the elements that it should show.
ubuntu 18.04.1 (gnome3) LTS
Any hint is appreciated!
Solved: There was a problem with the display that I do not know why prevented to correctly display the menus. So I turned off one of the 3 monitor in the setting displays menu and then it worked! Thanks cadash!!!
Just in case, I would try setting colors, window style and window decoration to defaults.
Since you mention it happenned during a system upgrade, also try doing:
sudo apt-get update --fix-missing
If it installs anything, reboot and give it a try.
If none of this works and you can backup your personal info, doing a fresh install might be the best option as you might encounter additional issues caused by the upgrade in the future.
I just re read your question, I thought you were using KDE but now I see you are using Ubuntu and native QT/KDE applications are looking bad. Try looking for some graphical setting that allows you to change the style or color for KDE/QT applications.
I dont use gnome or ubuntu so I wouldn't know exactly where to find it but I think GNOME had an option to change QT settings. If you can't see anything like that you should look for available qt packages related to gnome, I would do something like that:
apt-cache search qt | grep gnome
You should even be able to install some new QT styles like Oxygen for your apps

I don't understand that StackExchange, where I can post question about computers, so I think, this will be good.
Friend of mine wanted to reinstall windows and clear everything. He had windows XP. He don't know a lot of computers, so I decided, I will do that. I took his HDD to home and connected to my computer. Installation of windows XP started and everything worked well.
But when I bring HDD back to his computer and connected it, all I get after start computer is that (picture bellow). It is something like cursor, flashing on screen and never end. Does someone know, what could went wrong, when that worked well in my PC and its same windows, which he had before? (Sorry for bad english)
Windows is configured based on the hardware underneath. Installing windows in one system and then placing the HDD in another usually does not work. Use a Bootable USB to install Windows in the system as the DVD Drive isn't functional.

I've searched everywhere and can't seem to find a single answer to satisfy my issue. I have a few applications on Mac (10.9.2) that no longer open via their icons. I can open a Terminal window and type 'open /Applications/[app_name]' and they work fine but attempting to open via the LaunchPad fails. IntelliJ is the most recent application that is causing me headaches. When I click on the icon I receive the following error in the system log:
com.apple.launchd.peruser.503[306] (com.jetbrains.intellij.ce.76944[5866]): Exited with code: 1
I have checked my UID and I am 503 so I should be able to open it. This only happens with certain applications though. Network Connect (Juniper Networks) is another one that has recently started to cause issues:
com.apple.launchd.peruser.503[306] (net.juniper.NetworkConnect.30128[6000]): Exited with code: 1
Any help in understanding what is going on would be greatly appreciated!!
I love how I keep being the one to answer my own question but anyways, I found the solution. I ended up reverting the LaunchPad back to its default settings by using the following command:
rm ~/Library/Application\ Support/Dock/*.db; killall Dock
Once the dock database was rebuilt everything worked as expected. Hopefully this helps other out there who have this problem.

A friend of mine is showing me how to use the shell (on my mac) and I used ls -a to look at all of the files in my home directory and there are a few that I'm wondering if they're garbage.
The ones that seem non-native to the computer (I'm running Mountain Lion)
.cups
.drjava
.nbprofiler
.netbeans
.profile
I googled netbeans (and "cups" unsuccessfully) and it seems like netbeans is an IDE, but I never installed it and it's not on my computer. I'm just curious if some of these files are garbage that piggybacked here on other downloads. Thanks for any knowledge you guys might have of this!
All of the files that you mentioned are part of Mac OS X already. Cups is to manage printers, netbeans is an IDE, drjava is for writing java applications, nbprofiler is to uncover memory leaks, and .profile can be used to set up aliases that act as shortcuts to commands. It is an optional file which tells the system which commands to run when the user whose profile file it is logs in. Hope this helped!
